I got a message from him too, but if he's not going to be active on MyP2P, then I don't think it's a good idea to let him keep his team. We did it late in the afternoon cause I havew the sam problem as you. We usually draft at 3 pm ET und normally it doesnt take more than 60 to 90 minutes.

Guys, I know everyone is eager to get this season started, but it's beneficial to everyone if we have the draft as late as possible. It's always good to see what happens in training camp and pre-season games. If we're going to do it September 12th, it might as well have been July 12th. I also read the MLB thread and I believe we should make clear rules on LM involvement after a roster for a specific day has been shot. Can someone please work these rules out? I know this has also been an issue in this league last year.

btw,@ the trade proposals for me: appriciate it guys, but i have the problem that i have 5-6 players (connolly, vanek, roy, jordan staal, ruutu)...who have to fill 2 spots on my keeper list, and if i trade a draft pick, i would get a player like laich or bourque or neal (according to the offers) who are just slightly better than one of the guys above... and i don´t want to lose a draft pcik and get something in return i already have, if you know what i mean...
my other 4 keepers are: ovechkin (surprise! :D), perry, rinne, backstrom (the goalie)

And I know we still need to have a poll, but 5 goalies is way too many. If it turns out that everyone wants 5, then I think we're going to have to have a maximum number of goalie starts in a week like we do for pitchers in baseball, or some people will have 2 starting goalies, 7 nights a week.

hey guys, i know there's a poll about this (and i voted) but seriously.... 6 IR slots? I feel that this is bordering on ridiculous, and that the result will most likely be GM's hoarding players on their IR because they refuse to drop them. With "only" 4 IR slots, there is a stronger degree of competition, which I feel is the point of fantasy sports... Obviously I understand that not all IR slots will most likely be used at one point, but I see no reason that any one GM can retain SIX players that aren't on their team, aren't taking up a bench spot, and are basically being put on the shelf for a later date. I'm sorry if it would be your team that would succumb to injuries, but at that point, having the potential to put nearly your entire forwards section on the IR is a bit much... just some thoughts, how do other owners feel about the IR slots?

With "only" 4 IR slots, there is a stronger degree of competition, which I feel is the point of fantasy sports... Obviously I understand that not all IR slots will most likely be used at one point, but I see no reason that any one GM can retain SIX players that aren't on their team, aren't taking up a bench spot, and are basically being put on the shelf for a later date. I'm sorry if it would be your team that would succumb to injuries, but at that point, having the potential to put nearly your entire forwards section on the IR is a bit much... just some thoughts, how do other owners feel about the IR slots?

didn´t think about that before, but its not a big problem because if someone thinks he can just fill the IR slots with injured free agents, then he has to drop some players of the roster first. its not possible to put injured free agents directly to the IR!
and on the other hand, if a player in the IR is not marked as "O" or "IR" then he must be removed. i don´t think that was the case last season, but now in the offseason for example, i couldn´t do any move becasue i had a player on the IR who was healthy! so we must be sure its the same in the regular season, or we control each other and every one who has a healthy player (even DTD !) is forced to drop him in lets say 24hours....

The problem is I had more than two players on the bench because of some players out for a weeks. And I tell you I wont drop either Booth or Horton because of that...
I know someone who adds the players even if they are out the whole year. Habs you sent me a pm about that person! So, we should strictly forbid that. But I cant live with 4 IR spots as I have Booth in my lineup and he had a concussion last year..

besides acquisition limits (which i think should be at 5, just like baseball). who was unhappy with the amount of IR slots or amount of goalies last year? I found there was a lot of "rotational" style goaltending, where goalies were added and dropped nightly because the slight chance they could pick up wins. Based on our scoring system, you had little to lose and a lot to gain from playing almost any goalie whereas in baseball pitchers can lose substantially more points than a goalie (even a losing one). is 3 goalies not enough? I feel this problem will only get bigger if we add more G-tending slots...

I'm also for no more than 3 goalies. If a few teams are hoarding goalies, then it will make it extremely difficult for those of us who rely on 2 or 3 goalies to find a free agent that gets any playing time. If the number of goalie slots goes up to 5 or 6, then I think the only fair thing to do would be to set the maximum number of goalie starts in a week to 8-10. But because of the rotating issue, I think we should do this anyway.

Of course we're still going to have to vote on all this, but I'm just putting my two cents in.

But TBH, 4 would also be okay if you have Scott Clemmensen or Brodeurs backup. Clemmensen was 20+ games in a row on the bench...

I just think the problem with people having 4+ goalies is that NHL teams only have 2 goalies on their rosters at any given time, and some backups don't even play very often (Yann Danis). It's not like baseball where there is an abundance of starting pitchers to choose from. Only having 3 goalies also keeps people from rotating goalies into their lineup the day they get a start, and then dropping them the next day. If everyone only has 2-3 goalies, chances are they'll all be good enough that they won't want to drop them to bring on another guy for a day.

Last year was a test as far as I'm concerned. Now we just need to work out all these bugs. :)

Which brings me to something else I wanted to mention. We should have a minimum time on a roster rule. I don't know if there's a way to set this, but I think if you pickup a player, he should have to stay on your roster for a minimum of 1 week. This obviously doesn't apply in the case of injuries, or players being sent to the minors though.

Yeah, you're right. Mack, did you change that??

We had 25 players total last year as well. I think we need to reset everything to the default and start from scratch here, otherwise this season will be over before it even starts. I really don't like the idea of major things like this being changed without anyone knowing.

I think due to all this confusion we should leave everything exactly as it was last year, or rather we should put things back to how they were last year. Before the maximum number of goalies was changed to 15 or whatever ridiculous number it was of course. ;)
