That was an exciting matchup skinny. It was close until the last night's last game.

If any of you wondered where I was, I woke up at my girlfriends house on Sunday morning and I felt a slight pain in my chest so I checked my heartbeat and it was 40, and a few minutes after checking I passed out and woke up Sunday night at the hospital. Doctors said it was a minor heart murmur.. :o

I am okay now. My heart beat is roughly 55 normally and thats where it is now.

But I doubt anyone missed me.

Sorry but I don't think it works like that. You've to make a choice who you would like to line-up, it's part of the game.

I've the same problem all the time and rely on Leftwinglock.

Think we've also made a rule about that at the beginning of the season that mods will not make these changes.

We discussed that rule just a week ago. Goalies WILL be changed if it is posted before game time. You all knew of that fact!

You can't have people inserting their line-up only to find out that one of their goalies is not playing.... then change it for them. I'm assuming THC thought Rinne would not play since he played the night before... and sat him in place of Backstrom. Then oh, Backstrom is not playing and Rinne is!? OK well let's hurry and "change" that :mad: Whether this is the case or not once players are locked their locked... you can't wait to see if he is playing then change lol

you´re right, i thought rinne wouldn´t play because he played the night before and backstrom didn´t play his last game. i only knew it becasue of habs post, but as i wrote i was 10min too late. (the game hasn´t even started but the players were locked already).


This is different than losing points on your bench though. He posted the message at 7:10, which means the puck was probably only dropped 2-3 minutes before, if at all. It would be one thing if he said something after the game when he saw his goalie had the win, but we've always allowed goalie changes at the start of games.

Aah, sorrry. Lets make it different. I wont check everyone`s rosters. cause I usuallly watch the Panthers in the afternoon :D But why not post before the games here. If it is before game time the goalies will be added. Even if I have to adjust the score on the next day. But only when nobody has not changed it then. :)

i'm kind of a fan of the "tough shit" mentality. if you forget to enter your player, or he wasn't playing etc... etc.... that's too bad. now, the reason i think this can/can't work is because LM's always have the power to change their own lineups which is usually a 3 second fix....... so if LM's can do it, then everyone should right???

That pretty much is the rule. We never said 10 minutes exactly, but I think if someone catches it before the 1st period is half over, that's acceptable. Sure LMs can change it themselves, but they should also be following the same rules as everyone else. I realized at about 8:30 last night that I had a couple guys on my bench, but I knew it was too late to do anything about it, so I screwed myself and lost the points.

I don't see why we can't be a bit lenient with last minute changes, because I don't believe in someone being punished for something they had no control over.

I too think that posting a change should be done no later than 10 minutes after puck drop (Real time minutes not hockey minutes). Even then it should be five or less as a couple goals could be scored in ten minutes... The sooner the change the better. If a GM is thinking a change may be needed he/she should be around to see right away. So I would say max a 15 min grace period from scheduled start of game. ex. For a 7:00pm game any change requests should be posted no later than 7:15pm. One minute late then it's "tough shyte" ;)

Yeah I thought about that too. How can we solve this issue? Give a break if a GM can prove the puck drop was late? I'd be cool with that. In fact, if a GM can prove that a change was requested no later than ten real time minutes after puck drop (on any night) then I would be cool with that as well.

EDIT: So we could say the rule is...

No changes will be made once 15 real time minutes has passed since scheduled start time
But, changes will be made if proof is given that shows a change was requested no more

We find Goalie 2 is not playing. Goalie 3 is. I think it's important that we establish a cut-off time. (ie. 15 mins aft start time or, 10 real time mins aft puck drop) Otherwise a GM/Owner will be able to watch how his goalie is doing first, then decide whether to ask for a change... one will not ask for a change if his stopper is down 4 zip after the opening period... and already at minus 3 ;) But, if his goalie is hot and his team is up 4 then, of course he will ask for a change. :) See what I am saying?

I think you should have to post something before all goalies start, and set lines accordingly day by day. At 7, if one goalie didn't get the start and the roster is locked, and if there is a goalie on the bench that's going to play at 10pm, you shouldn't be able to switch past the same 10 minute rule we were talking about.

You play two goalies, then you find out after the fact that one isn't starting and now want to replace them... Okay, say you have 2 goalies dressed to play at 7, but it turns out that one of the goalies isn't playing, and you have one on your bench that isn't supposed to start until 10. As long as you say something here before the 10 o'clock game, then your goalie that didn't play at 7 should be able to be swapped out for that goalie that will be playing at 10. I think that's perfectly fair.

so we made that exception rule last year that if we have a goalie on the bench who´s playing but a goalie on the daily roster who isn´t we can change them.
and i think we should keep that rule unless we vote with a 2/3 majority against it!

and if a game starts at 7 and somebody posts at 7:30 to make that change, than its not too late....

edit: and again: that has nothing to do with the skaters. locked means locked and there are no changes to be made! but with the goalies we have to show some "fingerspitzengefuehl"!

we can insert goalie 3 (even though he has played) at 10:00PM (or after) once it is known goalie 2 will not play?

Bench 8:00pm - Goalie 3 0.3 (The start time here could be 9 or 10 etc... but aft 8/Goalie 2)

We find Goalie 2 is not playing. Goalie 3 is. I think it's important that we establish a cut-off time. (ie. 15 mins aft start time or, 10 real time mins aft puck drop) Otherwise a GM/Owner will be able to watch how his goalie is doing first, then decide whether to ask for a change... one will not ask for a change if his stopper is down 4 zip after the opening period... and already at minus 3 ;) But, if his goalie is hot and his team is up 4 then, of course he will ask for a change. :) See what I am saying?


There are 2 different scenarios. If we all agree on the above "rules" then e-mails, pm's etc. can be sent to all GM's/Owners... we won't have to discuss this again. I think the only thing to be determined is the cut-off time for changes. Whether It's 5 minutes or 50 minutes after puck drop, we should decide. Honestly... I'm not really concerned about the length of cut-off time because we are all playing by the same rule and it adds another little factor to the game. As long as the cut-off time is not too late.... it should all be good :)

No, I'm totally serious. Sure, my team has been less than stellar this year, but I just don't have the time anymore to spend hours scouting players, nor can I always be around to grab the good players when they do become available on free agency. I have just enough time to set my lines, but that's about it. It turns out that's not enough to make it in this league, so I think I'm throwing in the towel now before I invest anything else in this. I'll still be setting my lines, but I wouldn't bother sending me any trade offers, because chances are you won't get a reply in time.

The rivalry, that started with the creation of Original Six, has given fans the opportunity to watch two of the best franchises in NHL history face off against each other five or six times per year.

What makes this series so special is that the teams have played each other often in the playoffs and even have played each other in the Stanley Cup five times, with Toronto leading 3-2. Although this series is not as talked about, a lot of the big time hockey fans know that this rivalry is the most important in all of hockey.

I just don't have the time to put in this season that I had last season. Unless you're a vulture who hovers over free agency 24 hours a day, you don't stand a chance.

You and a few others like myself were harping on people to be active, which means you should be as well. That includes more than just setting your lineup every day. I understand you're frustrated that your team isn't doing well, but that's no reason to not be active. If you're giving up you should just hand your team over and call it quits all together. I'd rather see you stick around though.

It has nothing to do with not having 10 minutes, it's checking the league page every couple days to find out any FA worth grabbing is already long gone. I really think going with bigger rosters was a bad idea.

I'm still fairly active. I respond to trade offers, and I try to check the league page every other day or so, but I think this league is just too serious for me, or I'm just not serious enough to make it in this league this season. I don't have the time it takes to keep a competitive team.

I'm not going anywhere yet, but I will most likely hand my team over to someone else at the end of the season.

I'm not giving up because my team sucks, I'm giving up because I just don't have the time it takes to be competitive in this league, and as a result, I just happen to have a shitty team. Even if I were in dead last, I still wouldn't go anywhere if I thought I had the time to manage my team. I think it would actually be a lot more beneficial for me to be in a slightly less active league, otherwise I just can't keep up anymore.

I totally agree with this, there's no real decisions to be made like this. The players available on free agency are hardly ever real difference makers and like you say its the luck of the draw if your online when that player becomes available. I say, cut the amount of players in half and do the same with keepers. Should make things a lot more interesting. It will also make results vary more week to week. But that's me.

Btw, it looks like Luongo is starting but if he doesn't can someone put Crawford in for me?

That's exactly what I'm saying. If I had a team that didn't need managing, then my lack of time wouldn't be an issue. But because I don't have the time anymore, I'm not able to manage my team and it has become an issue.

I doubt you'll find anyone that wants to part ways with their better goalies, considering this has been kind of a wacky year for most of the better ones. I sent you a pretty sweet offer. Niemi see's most of the starts for SJ, and seems like he's rounding in to form lately. As you can see I'm not asking for much, just a small piece of offense. I figured I could probably get more, but I'll settle with what I asked for. I'd be surprised if you didn't accept this offer. :)
