The always down in the dumps Milwauke Bucks (3-2) has seemingly rises from the ashes in this early edition of the 2009/2010 NBA season. Gone are the days of being pushovers and training fodder for the the majority of NBA teams. Todays Bucks are carrying a swagger unseen in these parts in decades.
Why? As with any sucessful team, there is no one reason why the Bucks are off to a good start, but all the excitment that is building is because of the play of Brandon Jennings, the brash confident PG who broke tradition by getting in David Sterns dog house bypassing college and playing a year over seas, opening the potentil flood gates for other prep stars to follow.
But it has not just been Jennings. Below is a quick synopsis of the current Bucks roster and how they are all fitting together.
Luc Richard Mbah A Moute: Long , athletic, versatile. One of the top five defensive players in the league. Can gaurd four positions. Has been quite thus far. We haven’t seen the payoff yet on his jumper he worked on all off season. If he, Ersan and DelFino break out, we could be scary good.
Hakim Warrick: Dunks a lot. Long, athletic, versatile. Knows how to draw fouls. Would much rather have him for one year at 3.5 mill as opposed to Charlie Villanueva at 7-8 mill per for five years.
Ersan Ilyasova: Considered the top player in Europe playing for Barcelona. Long, athletic (kinda) and versatile. He’s adjusting to the NBA. Once he gets reacclimated, I want him shooting. Has range to beyond the arc.
Carlos DelFino: Rugged, smart, hasn’t had a breakout game yet. Very physical, good rebounder, scrappy, very good range. Good guy to have, but haven’t seen his best yet.
Jodi Meeks: Will be seeing more of him. Excellent shooter, live body, knows defense comes first in order to get out on the court.
Brandon Jennings: Would rather have Jennings for four years as opposed to Sessions being the starter the next four years. He is actually a very nice, well mannered genuine kid, who puts team first. He is exciting, but he is doing a nice job of getting everyone involved, including center Andrew Bogut.
Andrew Bogut: Mr. Everything has been showing off his immense skilles these last three games (19/10). Not coincidently, Redd has been out all three games. Excellent passer, when half court offense goes through him ,good things happen, I mean almost always.
Luke RidNour Steady heady PG, a nice compliment to BJ3.
Charlie Bell: Has been playing steady defense, but Meeks will beat him out soon, then we will use an all rookie backcourt at times this year, and that’s a good thing.
Dan Gadzurich: Rule of thumb still applies “Never count on Danny G.” I will say this though, so far so good this year. Skiles has had an effect on Gadz. He has slowed down on the offensive end, and brought some positive vibes defensively. However I still hold my breath when he enters a game and that feeling won’t go away anytime soon, nor should it.
Roko Ukic: I like him. I like he is six feet four and seems fundamentally sound with a good head on his shoulders. Too early to tell anything concrete.
Francisco Elson: Incomplete. Gadz beat him out which should tell you something.
Mike Redd: I have never liked his game. A designated shooter who would be a good third option on a good team. No leadership whatsoever, terrible passer, can not finish on a break. The two time’s he did he got hurt. Chucker mentality.
Joe Alexander: Biggest disappointment for me personally in several years, after I defended this pick to the bitter end. I still think he is going to be a NBA player in time.
Kurt Thomas: I like Skiles candor when he said about Thomas…” he is too slow to play with us.” As long as Gadz is playing the way he has been this year, Thomas won’t be needed as much save for going up against Boston, Cleveland, Spurs, ect.
Overall we are all excited about the tough defense, the unselfishness, and a kid named Jennings. We are number one in scoring defense and rebounding. Everyone is contrubuting. We're playing Duke basketball basically, moving, cutting, sharing the ball, and on defense, well, Scott Skiles is our coach, nuff said. Keep your eye on the Bucks, they may be a team you want to start watching :)
I like your passion!;):)
Nice to see a true fan of another team than the usual suspects (boston,la,cavs, magic)!:)
But common it could be you sell your players too high!:D
Mbah a Moute my man from cameroon: I like him a very good defender, actually i saw many times in person but he's not top 5 defensive players in this league at least not yet, what about KG,Battier,Duncan,Dwight,Ariza,Kobe,Artest,Cp3,Ron do for example.
Ersan Ilyasova was never considered as the top player in europa,he was euroleague mvp of the month(october i think),but the best player in europa, common way too high, say one of the best talents for sure but top player europa no way,you should follow more the euroleague then you'll know names like Ramunas Siskauskas,Papaloukas,Tiago Splitter(great great player hope he'll come to the nba real soon),Spanoulis,Pekovic.... and the best player on Barcelona last year was Juan Navarro euroleague MVP this year by the way!
Jennings over Sessions so far jennings is great but don't forget poor Sessions didn't get the freedom last year that Jennings has now,i don't understand why is sessions not starting in Minnesota but any way i agree Jennings real big big talent, about his attitude as long he doesn't talk in radio,he's good kid, actually he has now a press coach!:D
Andrew Bogut barring injury is a top10 nba center!
Don't hate Redd,he's not his fault,ya know you can't predict injuries, and the time he signed that big contract he was bombing the ball like hell! His 2005 season was truly crazy good, too bad injuries and expectations not reached but at one time he was worth that money ya know! Now not anymore!:o
Now don't be excited so far with bucks wins this year cause you know it was against sub-par teams like Minnesota and new york ya know teams that will not make the playoffs and another win against Detroit a rebuilding team who likely will not make the playoffs this year!
I just tell you that cause don't be surprised to see them at the botton of the league again cause really they can match with the potential playoffs teams!
Enjoy the ride of jennings and Bogut, maybe the revival of Redd but don't expect a lot of wins this year.
By the way welcome to the forum!:)
what about KG,Battier,Duncan,Dwight,Ariza,Kobe,Artest,Cp3,Ron do for example.

Thanks for the comments fella's. Yes I know it's early, but if they fall on their face from here on out, I had to take this window of opportunity to at least try to get people looking our way. Scott Skiles said Mbah A Moute was a top five defender this off season. When you consider he can equally shut down PG's, SG's, SF's and PF's, he adds a deminsion others you name don't have.
Ersan? He was ranked with Splitter as a top Euro player. I think once he gets the cob webs out of his head, and re groups, he will be shooting "lights" out. The kid is deadly. Same with DelFino, whom many will remember as being a leader on the Argitine team that upset USA basketball a few years back. You add Jodi Meeks and now all of a sudden you can knock down some outside shots.
I know the league now how a book on the Bucks and NBA coaches aren't stupid, but I do like what I see, compared to past Bucks teams, not so much how they stack up against the rest of the league.
At least with us playing hard nosed tough defense now, we should be in allot more games than in recent past. My prediction is 34 wins...but hopeing for more.
========
When the Golden State Warriors (3-5) visit the Bradley Center tonight to play the Milwaukee Bucks (4-2), an excitement will be in the air. The Warriors are second in the league in scoring at 109 ppg, but they are also last in the league in scoring defense, giving up an unconscious able 111 ppg.
The Warriors have six players averaging in double figures, led by PG Monta Ellis at 18.5 ppg, and Steven Jackson at 16.0 ppg. Rookie PG Stephen Curry is averaging 7.6 ppg in 26 minutes.
Milwaukee on the other hand is second in the league in scoring defense, yielding a mere 88 ppg, while ranking a modest 23rd in scoring (93 ppg).
The Bucks are led by an exciting duo. Brash, confident and most of all talented rookie PG Brandon Jennings leads the team in scoring at 20.7 ppg and assist (5.2) in just over 32 minutes a game.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/f0ac0689-25a6-48fd-8f93-bda8e47dec8c.jpg
The other half of Milwaukee’s new found duo is fifth year center Andrew Bogut, (15/9)

So is it going to be a track meet? Or a grind it out defensive slug fest??
I am thinking this will be the highest scoring game thus far the Bucks will have been involved in these first seven games. Why?
Because slowly but surely, with the team…
• coming in a month early
• then going through training camp
• 8 preseason games
• six regular season games
• several days to practice and watch film in between these first six games
• They have been home for a week.
• They are playing faster it seems every game.
• They are getting some chemistry from all of this time together.
• The players have been focused, they have been attentive, and they have been good soldiers all, to Head Coach Scott Skiles and his basketball bible.
Certainly their hard nosed defensive philosophy will still be present, but I think they want to move the ball and play fast.
They have been getting better at early offense, and with their continued unselfish play, and getting more efficient at moving the ball faster, combined with the Warrior’s “lack of something” on defense, I see an up and down game tonight.
I think tonight is the perfect night for the Bucks offense to explode. Of course defense and rebounding is the key. Last night the Warriors had only 17 assist on 45 made field goals, meaning they must “iso” allot.
Hold the fort defensively, rebound and get out and put up IF you got a good shot early. If not, swing it around, go through Bogut, and do it over and over again, all night, just be aggressive against this team, constantly moving and passing to the more open shooter.
Last year in China we played GS, and those games were played the same way I am saying here, but now even faster. Throw in the fact Bucks rookie PG Brandon Jennings thrives in this style of pla.y…in my crystal ball I see the table set for some good old fashion up and down 1980’s basketball tonight.
Then when we need too late in the game, I think we are starting to have the ability to slow things down, get some defensive stops and close out another one, with an inside/outside game.
You don’t wanna miss this one.
Bucks 113
Warriors 104

I like the Bucks defensive mentality this year. Its something they've been lacking in recent years. 35 wins would be a good estimation in my opinion but hey the signs for the future are all good :D.

they've shocked me, to say the least. i pegged them between 10 and 20 wins this year. jennings has been surprisingly good. still, two of their best players get hurt for a lot of every season (Redd and Bogut). we'll have to wait and see...
Roko Ukic: I like him
lol love the post, next we should do a suns breakdown :)

I like what I see about the Bucks. About Ilyasova you can't say there is a top 5 in Europe. That's bullshit. Nobody plays 35+ minutes or takes 15+ shots a game to show that dominance.
PG's - Jasikevicius, Papaloukas, Spanoulis, Prigioni, Rubio
SG's - Kaukenas, Siskauskas, Rakocevic, Spanoulis, Diamantidis
SF's - Childress, Kleiza, Boki Nachbar,
PF's - Velikovic, Pekovic, Fotsis, Lorbek, Garbajosa, Lavrinovic, Ilyasova (the time he was there)
C's - Boroussis, Splitter, Reyes, Vazquez, Andersen (the time he was there)
They're all the top players. You pick a top 5 based on who you like the most, not like the NBA where it's LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Paul and Howard/Duncan

Last night’s game pitting the Milwaukee Bucks (4-2) vs the Denver Nuggets (6-3) was a litmus test of sorts for Milwaukee. They had been playing well this season, but hadn’t faced an elite team before hosting the Nuggets at the Bradley Center.
These “new look” Bucks have had a swagger about them all this early season, and last nights game shows you reasons why. The Bucks have been playing Duke type of basketball.
They are extremely unselfish, from one through 12, who ever is on the court, they are expected to play sound, solid hard nose defense, because if you don’t, Bucks Head Coach Scott Skiles will sit your BEHIND on the pine.
Case in point…starter Hakim Warrick wasn’t putting out the effort expected by the demanding coach on the defensive end, so Skiles sits him for the next twelve minutes.
The Bucks have been getting contributions from every direction, as evidenced once again by the leagues leading rebounding team having at least four players with at least six rebounds, while two other players had five and four rebounds as well.
The constant big guns for the Bucks are their two best players, fifth year center Andrew Bogut, who turns 25 this month, and 20 year old rookie PG Brandon Jennings.
After that, it’s a “BY Committee” type of thing, where on a given night two or three other players come up big as well. Top to bottom this has been a roster full of contributors.
Some numbers from last night reads…
Brandon Jennings: Career high 32 points on 11-19 shooting from the field, 8-8 from the free throw line, and 2-2 from three point range . He had 4 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 turnovers in 38 minutes.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/f0ac0689-25a6-48fd-8f93-bda8e47dec8c.jpg
If you can believe it, Jennings had a “quite” 32, that is until he hit those big three’s and knocked down 6/6 at the free throw line in the final minute..
Jennings is getting his numbers within the flow of the offense. He isn’t forcing anything, he is sharing the ball, and he has been playing very efficient, showing maturing beyond his years.
With Milwaukee ahead 91-90 late in the fourth, Jennings delivers two back to back daggers from beyond the arc to put Milwaukee up seven, 97-90. The Bucks withstood a strong push at the end by Denver.
Andrew Bogut: His 23 points on 10-15 shooting (3-3 FT’s), 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 4 blocks, and 2 turnovers in 38 minutes once again gave the Bucks an inside presence, opening things up for everybody else. He hit perhaps the biggest shot of the night with 24 seconds left, when he hit an 8 foot runner, putting his team up 102-97.
http://www.docsports.com/images/lib/large/andrew-bogut.jpg
Since SG Mike Redd’s injury, the last four games Bogut is averaging 19.5ppg, 10.3rpg.
Ersan Ilyasova: 17 points on 5-8 shooting from the field, 4/4 FT’s, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, and 1 turnover in 22 minutes.
http://offsideswithfletcher.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/ersan.jpg
Ersan is finding his way. After playing all summer in international ball, he had eight days off before starting training camp. He is seemingly getting more comfortable every game, going 3 for 3 from downtown, all in the first half, helping the Bucks open a double digit lead..
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute: 10 points on 3-8 shooting (4-4 from the line), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block, and 1 turnover in 35 minutes. Carmelo Anthony got his 32 points on 9/25 shooting. When Luc and Carmelo were matched together, Luc Richard made him shoot 7/20 (35%) while forcing Melo into five of his game high seven turnovers..
http://cache.nba.com/media/act_luc_mbah_a_moute.jpg
He too is starting to come around after a slow start recovering from a bruised left knee he got in practice prior to the opening of the regular season.
The most impressive thing through all of this, is the overall team play. The unselfishness, the chemistry between Bogut and Jennings, the effort, the fast pace by which they play, all has been a pleasant surprise for this (going on 40 years) Bucks fan.
Can they sustain it? Can Bogut stay healthy? Will the wear and grind of a long NBA season be too much for the slight framed Jennings to handle?
Who knows? We’ll see, but the early returns are these are not your Daddy’s Milwaukee Bucks. In fact, these guys are fun to watch, especially with the next four games still to be played at the Bradley Center.
Stay tuned.

You are correct. We have not seen the best of Carlos DelFino yet. He has been contributing with toughness, leadership and even has knocked down a couple of big three's for us, but his shot has not been falling the way it will when he breaks out of his funk. Same with Ersan, Luc Richard, Warrick.
Jodi Meeks played 13 minutes and went 1-7, yet didn't take a bad shot. Once he gets used to playing, he will be a nice addition to the bench rotation as well.
Chauncey Billips was giving Jennings props last night after the game.

Two years ago Jim Pauske, the Bucks play by play guy for television, said repeatedly Ersan, Louis Scola and Tiago Splitter were the top three players in Europe. He sited that was the general consensus of the majority of the European coaches, whom I think were polled.
You'll learn I just don't throw bullshit out there. If I say it, it's either true or I am quoting someone else :)
The reason I am here is am am locked out of one of my forums, and the other one closed down, so I am looking for a cyber home, if you will.
So don't beat up on me too badly, we're family.

He wasn't in the league last year. He can play the SG or the SF. Tough, gritty, can knock down the three. Heady. Nothing great, but can get hot and contriute big some nights.

i agree
bucks have put a nice little team together
though as good as they've been, without redd it'll get tough to break through the 25-win-margin
The minute he got hurt I said they would play better. They have gone 3-1 only losing by two points to Chicago since he went down. They were playing better without him last year, but people forget soon after Redd went down, Bogut went down. The few games they played with Bogut and not Redd they were like 2-2. With Redd AND Bogut out we were 3-17 during that one 20 game stretch :)
I have watched hundreds of games Redd has played in. Besides the fact we are about one hundred games below .500 with him as a starter, he is a shooter, and thats pretty much it. Now, his contract being the tenth highest contract in the league may bias my opinion (ok it does bias my opinion), but beyond that, he is a terrible passer, no leadership, he is soft as butter, and he stalls any attempt at a flowing offense because he is a black hole, once he gets it its going up pretty much.
When Mo Williams was here I dubbed them "Chucker I and Chucker II". Two years ago Mo and Redd were 0-17 closing out games when the game was within four points either way with under four minutes to go.
Why? They would stand outside, pass to each other and launch missles.
Granted Redd was playing his best ball when he got hurt last season, and Skiles has basically reined everyone in, but when and if he returns, he needs to get with the program, play hard and constant on defense, and pass to the more open shooter, or dump it down low to Bogues.
If he isn't willing to do that, sit his ass down like everyone else. I believe Coach Scott will do just that, his 35 garanteed millions over the next two years be damned.
We have finisehed last in our division five years in a row, so yeah, I think we could have gone 100 games under .500 and last in the division the last five years by not paying Redd 97 million total, but that's just me

Hi Ben, it's always nice to talk to fellow Bucks fans and basketball fans from all over. Brandon Jennings is the real deal. I think the majority of Milwaukee's early success is Scott Skiles.
He is consistant, firm, knowledgable and garners respect from the players and officials alike.
He has them playing team ball, and part of that is our new PG, Brandon Jennings. Skiles and Jennings after every game, the very next mourning they get together all by themselves, close the door, turn the lights off and rolls the film.
At that time Skiles and Jennings critique Jennings decision making. Skiles doens't fluff anything, nor does he rip into you. But he will just matter of factly tell you when you suck, and also when you do well.
Brandon takes it to heart, absorbs it and goes out and does it on the court.
There is another special relation building within the corridors of the Cousins Center, and that is Jennings and center Andrew Bogut. Their relation is blossoming into a really nice duo.
As I explained, when we had Chucker I and Chucker II back in the day, while they were out top playing two man basketball, you know what else was happening? Bogut was being shut out.
When the half court offense goes through Bogut, it is amazing to see the decisions he makes. He makes the correct decision so many times it is scary.
He'll do his patented baby hook, or find an open shooter or zip it to a streaking team mate down the lane, any number of options and he always makes the correct one, in a split second.
Jeinnings has and is realizing this, plus now he knows if he does do it and if he doens't have anything, Bogut gets it right back to Young Money, and they do it all over again.
But they just don't do it over again, they are always moving the ball, FAST. All of this practice time and only having played six games so far, the Bucks have had time to play games, have two and three days off, watch film, practice and go play again.
The schedule has been perfect for this very young team. Next up is Saturday night when Golden State and Stephen Curry make their only appearance at the Bradley Center this season.
THAT should be a good one :)

You're right sidewinder:) Jennings is the right choice for the Bucks, but I really feel it will be a good leader in the future even he impresses me personally already are age, size, and finally I takes about the same as Rose's) my leader Rose: D, yes I put the same level, even if Rose & much more athletic than Brandon Jennings but when he shot it does not often magnifying its either remotely or set to 3 PTS. But it was Charlie Villanueva to the Bucks not before? He and partly for Detroit now.

Yes Charlie V had range beyond the arc and he is now in Detroit. I think our three point shooters are of course Redd, and Meeks, Delfino, Ilyasova, Jennings, Ridnour, Charlie Bell and Roko Uvic.
Of those, our best shooters would be Redd, Meeks and Ersan with Jennings and Delfino close behind. Joe Alexander can shoot as well, but he is on the self til mid January at the earliest with a nasty hamstring injury.
This is a great thread. I love reading through it, you have some really good points man.

Well tonight puts an exclamation point on what I have been trying to tell you fella's all week in this thread and others. This ain't your Daddys Milwaukee Bucks.
Tonights game was the most entertaining of the night.
I will write more tomorrow. Tonight I willl bask in the prospect of a bright future ;)

An amazing thing took place at the Bradley Center last night, one for the ages as far as franchise lore goes. These ‘new look’ Milwaukee Bucks (5-2) is riding a four game winning streak after last nights 129-125 win over the Golden State Warriors (3-6).
Brandon Jennings: This night was his. We thought his previous game was his coming out party when he dropped 32 on Denver in Milwaukee’s 108 / 102 victory over the Nuggets on Wednesday, but that was spoken too soon.
Turns out that was only the appetizer as the rookie laid a double nickel (55) on the unsuspecting Warriors. He scored 45 points in the second half, 29 in the pivitol third quarter including 16 in a row. For an encore he stroked 16 in the fourth, and every point was critical as the Warriors led as late as 111 / 110.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/12420eb9-aa7f-4616-a445-21925146f699.jpg
“They kept going under the screens in the first half but I was looking to get my team mates involved,” Jennings said. “ They kept going under in the second half and I thought ok, if you are going to keep disrespecting me, I’m going to start taking advantage of it.” .
Boy, did he ever. He broke a 39 year 9 month old franchise record in points scored by a rookie. The most points ever scored in a quarter by an opponent against Golden State.
His new nickname may have to become The SHOW.
Andrew Bogut: Yes there were other players in the game as well. Bogut has continued his strong play during the teams four game winning streak, coming up big again last night recording 19 points and 11 rebounds on 9/12 shooting.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/11d7abc1-00ea-43b4-86c2-8c013389672d.jpg
He and Jennings are really playing the pick and roll to perfection. But as Bogut said…”tonight we picked, we didn’t roll. When Brandon gets hot like that, I just want to get him open”. That my friends, is leadership
Luc Richard Mbah A Moute: Eight points, twelve rebounds, two steals and three assist for the garbage man hustle man for Milwaukee. On a Jennings turnover he stole the ball right back late in the game with the Bucks clinging to a 1 point lead.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/e302f412-d35d-4fe5-8fd3-3da546bec881.jpg
He has gotten stronger, and silently has become a very strong rebounder with his added bulk he put on this off season..
Charlie Bell: Charlie “dumb” Bell after his over and back violation with under a minute to play, and the Warriors made us pay big time for that gaff. Otherwise stellar, solid and steady defensively for 38 minutes with the lone turnover.
Made a huge 3 to put Milwaukee up for good.
Luke Ridnour: Much needed extra ball handler on this night as Skiles went with Bell, Jennings and Luke (36 minutes) to counter the Warriors small ball.
Thirteen points and four assist and two big 3’s.
Jodi Meeks (16 minutes) and Ersan Ilyasova (14 minutes): Combined for 17 points and 8 rebounds in their roles tonight. Ersan is long and active, Meeks plays fast, seems to be a good rebounder at his position and has room for growth.
Overall the team snapped out of its first half doledrums with just enough to beat an amazing team on the other side. Golden State was a nightmare to defend. Monta Ellis led Golden State in scoring with 26, followed closely behind by Corey Maggette with 25, and Stephen Jackson with 21. Rookie gaurd Stephen Curry netted 14 points in 26 minutes of action.
Talk about playing fast!! That’s us next year
The Bucks allowed just 2 offensive rebounds on 36 Warrior misses, while getting 15 offensive rebounds of their own, dominating the glass 46 to 31.
When Coach Skiles was asked after the game what he said to Jennings, he said “get some rest and say hello to Jason Kidd on Monday”.
Such is life in the cold hearted NBA.

Thats sort of by design. The previous game he was scoreless in the first quarter as well and ended up with 32. They try to establish Bogut early, thereby opening up things for everybody else later.

55 points is insane.. hopefully he doesn't get injured.. it always seems like the best prospects get hurt before they get to fully develop :(
When i saw Jennings game that reminds me of young AI with the quickness and the quick shooting release!
Now it's pretty soon to tell how good he will be but it looks like he has more passing skills than rookie AI so fortunally he wil become a 20-10 guy in this league!
But rellay that game was nice saw it live by the way!:D

but i like his style of play, and him beeing a lefty makes him even harder to defend

Of course he could fall into the punk attitude, the "I am going to get mine attitude", but until he does, I am going to say he will not. Here is how Brandon has been since he has been here...
Since June he has lived in Milwaukee, save for a three week hiatus after summer league where he went and chilled. During his chilling period I know he played some ball with Marcus Williams, Charlie Villaneuva and Ben Gordon on UCLA campus, but not sure what else or where he went.
Then he came back in August, where he, Meeks, Joe Alexander and Mbah A Moute worked on their games all summer at the Bucks training facility (The Cousins Center).
So they would workout, play pick up games with former Marquette players such as Dominic James. Then at 9:00pm every night, he and Bucks assistant coach Kelvin Sampson would go back down to the Cousins, and Jennings would shoot 1,000 jumpers, working on his flawed mechanics, where it looks like that has paid off.
Then in September, the whole Bucks team came in early, practicing every day informally until the start of training camp. Jennings continued his candle light meeting with coach Sampson.
Throughout preseason and the early regular season thus far, Young Money has been a team guy all the way. He has realized Bogut is the best big man he has ever played with, and with him, he doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting himself.
They also have been working diligently on how to best use the pick and roll, and that has been undefendable with that pair thus far. BJ3 got a huge amount of his points of the pick and roll with Bogut, because they went to stay with Bogut because he dumped 11 first quarter points on them, as did Bogut drop 15 points in the first quarter the game before this one.
http://lottobound.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/r153584_551261.jpg
Both games, Jennings netted zero points in the first quarter of those games. So they have been forging Bogut early, the double teams come, and Jennings, the other six quarters of those two games, he has scored 87 points.
It's amazing though guys, that except for a bad first five minutes against Golden State, he hasn't forced anything. It's all coming with the team system. Scott Skiles said regarding Jennings 29 third quarter points..."I know it sounds silly, be he wasn't forcing anything. He was looking for his team mates too. But GS kept going under the screens and it gave Jennings an opening, and he was knocking them down,"
So what I am saying is Young Buck has been nothing short of perfect in his attitude. He always acknowledges Bogut in interviews, he recognizes how hard his team mates are working, he has been humble, and has kept his nose clean.
So...until if or when he starts being a malcontent, I am going to say he isn’t going to be one, because he doesn't deserve it. His actions have been exemplary :)
Too bad your Pistons got beat Rip, you seem like a big time fan. I’ll only hate on them when we play you guys.
I think that Jennings won't score more then 40 points again this season.Other teams will take him seriously and watch for him so I think statistics won't be so great somewhere in the middle of season

When was the last time a team with a 20-10 PG won a ring ?
For point guards on great teams scoring and, to a certain extend, even assists are irrelevant. It´s all about IQ, a feeling for tempi and most of all not turning the ball over.

The NBA is about adjustments. The league has adjusted to the Bucks defense, and now the Bucks need to counter that adjustment. The Bucks have gotten tourched in the first half of each of the last two games. Dallas shot 68% in the first half and 52% for the game.
Ersan is getting comfortable (19/12) and Luc Richard Mbah A Moute is so dam good (13/7). We are missing an enforcer, ala Joakim Noah, Rasheed Wallace, someone who can help Bogut out underneath. He can't handle all the guys on the other team as most every good team has at least two Bigs, where Milwaukee has really only one.
Bogut was non existent down the stretch. Nice 18 point comeback, we had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but fell short.
Hats off to the Mavs. Next up will be another nice PG matchup on Wednesday when the New Jersey Nets and Devin Harris (former Badger) comes to the Bradley Center.
Thanks for the link last night. The next 16 Bucks games are televised, but I be haningin around here a bit if you don't mind.

Thanks fella's for all the nice words. As I wrote in the game day thread it's time to get back on track after a last second shot went in for Dallas Monday last.
We need more production from certain people, and if we get it, we could really be a fun team to follow (of course your favorite team comes first).
Hakim Warrick is capable, but not consistent offensively. Defensive he isn't totally selling out on that end, and as a result, he has played 12 minutes each of the last two games, riding the pines next to Head Coach Scott Skiles.
He has these bad habits where he lapses into a player who doesn’t know the first thing about defense. With his long athletic frame, he could be "killer" on that end, but he's never been pushed to do it, therefore he's not used it, so he sits.
If he ever snaps out of it, he could be a helluva baller, but until then...he is on a one year 3.5 million dollar deal, and this is his tryout for a long term deal.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/e26290de-0627-415c-a2fd-68c6f7e1974d.jpg
Milwaukee will have five open roster spots this off season, and 52 million currently scheduled for 2010/2011 salaries. Depending on what the soft cap is, perhaps 67 million?
Two draft picks puts the roster at 12, and maybe 3.5 against the cap. If that's the case we'll have some cash (apprx 10.5 million) to go get a good player, preferably a banger to put next to Andrew Bogut.

Warrick is not going to start, he now is coming off the bench. Ersan Ilyasova (12/9 these last five games) has emerged as the starter next to Bogut along the front lines. Warrick will be vital with the second unit.

Behind Bogut is a cast of probably the worst collection of big men in the league. Dan Gadzurich, Kurt Thomas, and Francisco Elson.
Defend and rebound and the other guys can pick up the rest. We'll see.

does anyone know anyway I can watch the Bucks vs Nets game from a few days ago? I pay for International League Pass and they "lost" the game.
Today, when I try to watch Bucks vs Bobcats on ILP it plays Mavs vs Kings.
I'm really unhappy with this service but I see no real alternative at the moment unless I can somehow use the US League Pass with a proxy or something. Does anyone know how to do that?
I hate missing Bucks games!!! :(
alternatively if someone can upload Bucks games for me for the rest of the season (HD quality if possible), I'd be happy to pay a fair price for it. let me know if anyone is interested.
Jennings: 29 points, 7 assists.
Just another day at the office. Again, how old is this guy?:)

The Milwaukee Bucks (7-3) was hosting the last game of their six game home stand, playing host to the Charlotte Bobcats (3-9).
The Bucks were playing their first game after hearing the news that center Andrew Bogut’s injury he sustained against the New Jersey Nets that Bogut would be out 2 to 4 weeks with a lower left leg injury.
Versatile all everything Luc Richard Mbah A Moute would also be missing his second game due to an ankle injury, and his staus remains day to day. With SG Michael Redd still on the shelf with a knee injury he sustained on Halloween night, it was becoming apparent the Bucks were going to be asking even more of their prized rookie, PG Brandon Jennings who for the season is averaging 25ppg and 6 apg.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/65d566cb-4af5-4f4f-8824-df6729ba1504.jpg
Jennings didn’t disappoint as he got his team kick started by scoring 17 first quarter points as Milwaukee jumped out to a 53-41 half time lead, keeping Charlotte at bay in the second half by not allowing the ‘cats to get any closer than 8 the rest of the way.
Charlotte was led by Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace with 22 points apiece.
Jennings finished with 29 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds in 40 minutes of action. It’s the same story that has followed Jennings and the Bucks all season though, and that is the overall play of the entire team. Jennings gets everything within the flow of the offense.
So does Ersan Ilyasova, who is continuing his ascension up the ladder on the team list of important players with another solid performance (13/7).
In the last five games Ersan is averaging (13/8) and playing tough hard nosed defense and constantly keeping balls alive for others to grab offensive rebounds.
After an inauspicious start, Hakim Warrick came alive and had a nice game, finishing with 16 points and 9 rebounds in 31 minutes.
Luke Ridnour gets his shots within the team concept. He’s averaging 10 points in 21 minutes, often teaming with Jennings, providing a smart, heady, extra ball handler the Bucks need against pressuring defenses.
Carlos Delfino gets his within the flow as well. I love Delfinos toughness. He rebounds well, plays tough defense, and is very unselfish. His modest numbers 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist in 40 minutes while playing tough defense is one of many unsung efforts Milwaukee has been getting from a variety of players all year these first ten games.
In the absence of Bogut, Dan Gadzuric and Kurt Thomas combined for 6 points and 10 rebounds in 38 total minutes between the two. They defended, didn’t hurt the team, and let everybody else do their part. Nice first game without Bogut for these two guys
Charlie Bell was once again steady, playing 32 minutes, 6 points, no turnover’s while defending Jackson. Jodi Meeks is continuing to get more comfortable everyday defending and rebounding and taking his shots within the flow as well.
The key to the Bucks success, and will be moving forward can be summed up in three words. TEAM. TEAM. TEAM. That’s how their winning, and Jennings, as a rookie deserves kudos for leading the way in a very humble manner.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/70766d75-6322-4391-a7da-383577df1f51.jpg
His “airness” was at the game watching with a critical (and bloodshot) eye.
Next up is a road game at Memphis tonight, who got a combined 73 points and 29 rebounds from their starting frontcourt of Marc Gasol Rudy Gay and Zach Randoph in last nights 103-97 Grizzlies win at Philadelphia. This is a game we'll miss Luc and Andrew.
well, looks like another brandon jennings night with a lot of space to drain shots.
noone is actually defending in memphis and mike conley is actually a farce!!!
so looks like 8-3, which isnt really good news to fans of other central-division-team :mad:

There has been a common theme throughout this early season for the (8-3) Milwaukee Bucks, and it was never more evident than in the Bucks 103-98 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies (4-9) on Saturday night.
The Bucks have been playing unselfish to say the least. Take last nights game for example. Milwaukee’s rookie sensation Brandon Jennings led all scorers with 26 points, including 12 each in the third and fourth quarters as the game was hanging in the balance.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/2d7ccf13-2a28-4608-9fff-7790b7165c80.jpg
Yet there were four other Bucks who deserved the Player Of The Game honor more so than he, and Jennings would be the first one to tell you that.
Kurt Thomas (in the absence of Andrew Bogut) played a solid 31 minutes, scoring 8 points and grabbing 10 rebounds and helping solidify the middle against the Grizzlies imposing front line.
Charlie Bell played 40 minutes of hell defense, knocked down five huge three’s in route to a 19 point night.
Then there was Luke Ridnour, being a second ball handler to Jennings, moving the team fast and with precision. In 33 minutes he had 12 assist with no turnovers. to go along with 13 points.
But none of them is my POG. That honor goes to Ersan Ilyasova, who is more and more reminding me of a poor man’s Kevin McKale. He uses his length to maximum advantage; he can rebound or keep a ball alive.
http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/b92025c2-d4f3-46fa-bd7f-f594b93115c5.jpg
He has more range than McKale, but doesn’t have McKales post up game. I see similarities. Ersan finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, an 3 assist, and played hard and physical defense all night long on whoever he was guarding.
He is getting more and more comfortable all of the time. He knocked down two more 3’s, forcing teams to come out and guard him.
On the flip side, Bucks fans take note; Hakim Warrick is a cross between Dan Gadzuric and Tim Thomas. He isn’t a smart player, his hands are suspect, and he just makes too many mistakes, all the while having everyone drooling over his athleticism.
It’s fools gold and I am not buying, nor should you. Yes he will have a game here or there, but you can’t count on it.
BTW, the “never count on Danny G” rule still applies. He had an opportunity to really contribute and help his team, but here he is with 4 fouls in 9 minutes.
But Jennings and company put on a complete team showing last night, and it’s been common all through out the season. That’s why I say “These are not your Daddy’s Milwaukee Bucks”.
Next up is San Antonio on Monday.

well, i dont really understand your problem with warrick
what do you expect?? he came in the league a few years ago and memphis picked him high but then undertstood his limits. he was a bench player all the time with a couple of nice energy moments.
so when the bucks decided to get him, they should've known, that he wont provide anymore than before. so dont hate on him, he's a solid bench player

Yes I was expecting more from him, but as you say, historically he hasn't been anything more than a contributing bench player so why would he be any diferent now? Good point.

You mean Kevin McHale i guess by saying mcKale!:D
But it's a long way to compare Ersan with McHale,if i would compare one player to MChale in the league it would be only Pau Gasol with the similiraties in the post game, not about the toughness McHale was tough as hell!:)

Thanks for the spelling correction :) Yes I know Ersan isn't McHale, but he reminds me of him with how he rebounds, how his toughness shows through and how long he is. Ersan can shoot the lights out beyond the arc, McHale was best posting up..

The below bold text is a quote from Bogut himself on how his back and rehab is going.
It’s been a while since I got in contact with all the fans out there. With the season starting just under a month ago I have been focused on playing and keeping my back strong, this meant not a lot of time for blogging and such. For that I apologize.
I can tell you I’m more frustrated than ever, and doing everything I can to be back on the court. My back was the major concern this season, including how it would hold up. I must say that it has held up very well, the rehab and training in the offseason really paid off! Now I can hear the average fan saying, ‘’ wow Bogut is always hurt’’. The last two seasons they have a valid argument, but like I told the media I never want to be hurt, and never want to miss games, esepcially with the success we have had to this point. This latest injury is a tough pill to swallow; it was nothing to do with being weak in the area, or stepping wrong. I took a freak hit from a player in the last 3 minutes of the game Vs New Jersey. The only silver lining in this injury is that doctors think I’m very lucky not to have blown my knee or ankle. This injury is very, very rare. Basically the hit I took came from the side, and usually with these hits you see guys go out with blown knees or ankles. I definitely was down when hearing I would be out hurt, but a little positive was that news I just shared with you regarding that it could have been much worse. I have stayed back from the latest road trip we are in. I am currently doing 3 hours therapy. Along with that I’m doing some upper body weight lifting and pool conditioning. (pool conditioning is great with injuries like this, it keeps your fitness up without any pain or pounding on the legs) To finish off my days I usually have a Acupuncture session. On top of that when I get home I ice at least 2-3 separate times. As you can see I’m running around more with treatment and rehab than I would be if I was healthy and playing. This goes to show that being hurt is not a paid holiday as some people think. I always try to do everything possible to be back and healthy. Ice, massage, stretching or whatever it is, I’ll do it so I can get back to doing what I love

He played great for the Magic in the Bucks series...and at this time the Magic had players who couldn`t help him much...John Amaechi, Pat Garrity, Michael Doleac, Monty Williams, Don Reid, Andrew DeClerq and an injured Grant Hill...T-Mac was on his own with Darrell and perhaps Mike Miller...he is a great baller and i hope he will come back strong...although i think he can destroy the harmony from the Rockets...

I like your passion!;):)
Here is what ESPN's Hollinger had to say about Mbah A Moute and his defense...
Mbah a Moute's PER is an ugly 7.05 so far this season, but you'll note that he's still playing 29 minutes a game. There's a reason for that, and it's his suffocating defense. Mbah a Moute doesn't need to contribute much at the offensive end because he can guard any position on the floor and guard it extremely well. He didn't get much credit for it last season, but he's an All-Defense-caliber stopper with long arms, outstanding quickness and great tenacity.
rise of the bucks came to an end, at least if you look at the standing.
its still amazing that they're 8-5, but from spot no 3 a couple of days ago they went to no 6.
it will be hard for that kind of a team to get a single digit ranking, when their best player is 1-6 from the line and is not even close to beeing worth his >15M$ contract
so i like jennings' play and the passion they are playing with, but in the end it wont be anything but a rank no 11 or 12 , i'd say

Redd's contract is 17 mill this season :) and 18 next. As I have stated before, we are a better team with out Redd, 1-3 with Redd, 7-2 without. As far as the Bucks overall, my preseason prediction was 34 wins, if totally healthy.
You're right, we don't have a lot of talent. Give me Bogut, Jennings, Mbah A Moute and Ilyasova (maybe Ridnour) and everyone else is junk. Meeks is too early to know his value so I'd keep him also.
That's six guys out of 15 on the roster I'd keep, everyone else is absolute garbage, including Redd and Charlie Bell.
We need upgrades all accross the board. Our Bigs are garbage with Gadzuric, Elson and Kurt Thomas.
Hakim Warrick shows flashes but he ain't nothing to write home about. Delfino is still sleeping through the season
But we as fans have to pull for those cards we are dealt with, but I also see improvement this year compared to last.
And Jennings is fun to watch...
So the beat goes on :)
