View Full Version : Wierd bug...does anyone have any idea?
Hey guys, i've just upgraded to version 1.1.2, and have an issue...when i launch sopcast, it runs normally for about 5-10 seconds, then quits. I've cleaned out the files and reinstalled it several times and it still did it. I also tried installing the old version, and it logged in, updated itself, then worked fine. I was able to watch nba last night, but tonight it's doing it again...i launch the program and after a few seconds it exits itself. I have no idea what is going wrong...thanks for any help
never mind....after trying to launch it for the 100th time it worked...seems totally random
hm that's strange, report back if it gives problems again ;)

i also have a slight problem with sopcast.
seemed to work fine for months, but now, somehow, after launching sopcast, a window opens telling me that sopcast main application had to be closed and if i want to debug it and send or not send it.
i uninstalled it, cleaned the registry and all that...but it wont work.
Seems to be doing it again, it just terminates the program after a few seconds...
Maybe I haven't completely cleaned the registry, is there a list of files/locations that need to be checked?
I'm getting a similar problem to you sportbund, however I'm not even getting the error log/debug window
Here's an interesting fact about my problem: using internet explorer, when I try to launch the sopcast webplayer, internet explorer terminates in the same way. There is some sort of issue within sopcast itself, doesn't matter if it's the old version or the new version, it just won't run on my pc anymore....
Maybe this will give someone an idea: I recently had to reinstall norton antivirus 2007, and ended up using a utility that cleaned out the old version of the program, emptying some parts of the registry.
I doubt it did anything to any sopcast related files, but you never know...

my problem expanded a bit. its not just sopcast anymore which is not working. even tvu player wont work. a few weeks ago, both programs were working perfectly. since then, i got that error report using sopcast, to send an error report, debug it or just not send any report. this window appears everytime i try to start sopcast, no matter wether its the latest or an older version.
tvu wont stat at all. theres just the icon down at the right bottom but the program itself isnt starting an opening. im using the latest IE and the latest WMP. and mcafee for firewall and all that.
been working on that bug or error for several hours now and still dunno what the heck is going on. been reinstalling, totally uninstalling and deleting folders and files and registry keys, but it didnt help so far. even tvants wont start becaus of a missing //localhost:16900 or something like that.
in fact...i didnt chance anything about my systems settings or whatever. i can only imagine that its got something to do with the IE settings, changed from outside the system. cuz everytime i try to access the sopcast website and its channel list, i get an error. maybe its some activeX error or something like that.

In your place I would uninstall all p2ptv programs and codecs packs .... reinstall IE ... and then install codecs and p2ptv programs again.

well...tonights game between buffalo and ny will be live on austrian free tv so i dont have to rip my nerves off with sopcast or other programs :)
thank god i am able to watch that game and game 2 in my area which is close to the austrian border :)
lets go sabres :)
i have a wierd problem with the new version of sopcast, too. could be a problem with my windows settings though.
the app opens, but if i hit the big blue open the channel button with the arrow inside, wich opens the screen, nothing happens, often symbolizes that it would load, but never opens. i can quit sopcast regulary. do i block anything with my settings? after i reinstall it, it works once, then the same. if i click sopcast-links on myp2p the browser sais the site couldn't be shown, sopcast doesn't get recognized. any help?
I had this problem for a very long time. Just stumbled upon the fix.
If you are using a Firewall/Anti-virus, BLOCK sopcadver from connecting and you should be fine. I use PCGUARD, so I had to clear my exception list and block sopadver when my sopcast loaded. As long as the program(sopadver) is not allowed to connect to the net it should do the trick, its fine if its running in the background.
This should fix it, it did for me.
thanks. it actually was the firewall. i configered it and it works.
