And most likely two Germans at Mercedes. SO battle of the Brits versus the Germans :)
I'm also suspecting BMW knowing of Mercedes there intentions and maybe that might have influenced BMW's decision to withdraw. I'm not sure if BMW would prefer a head to head contest with Mercedes.

Actually I do like the concept of Mercedes Grandprix returning to F1 after 55 years. Would be even more fun if Mclaren change their name to Auto Union and Ferrari to Maserati :)

Confirmed: Rosberg to Mercedes for 2010
23 November 2009
As expected, Mercedes has announced that Germany's Nico Rosberg will be spearheading its 2010 line-up as the Stuttgart manufacturer prepares to return to Formula 1 for the first time since 1955. Following a press conference in Germany on Monday afternoon, the team-mate to the former Williams driver is yet to be revealed.
With the Champion Brawn team having been bought by Mercedes-Benz, at least one German driver was always expected in the line-up of 2010, with Rosberg's confirmation on Monday effectively acting as a swap with new Williams driver Rubens Barrichello.
Rosberg set the fastest lap in his first race, Bahrain 2006
"I am really happy to be a part of the Silver Arrows re-launch in 2010 as a driver for Mercedes," commented the 24-year-old son of 1982 World Champion Keke. "No other brand in Formula 1 can look back on such a long and successful tradition in motor racing.
"I am very proud that I will now drive for the new Mercedes team and work with Ross Brawn (Team Principal). I am more motivated than ever and can hardly wait to start testing with the new Silver Arrow and for the first race of the new season in Bahrain."

Force India confirms Sutil and Liuzzi
27 November 2009
Force India has revealed that Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi will be remaining with the Silverstone outfit for the 2010 season. The news marks what will be the German's fourth straight season in Formula 1 and the full-time return of the Italian, after racing with Toro Rosso in 2007.
26-year-old Sutil has been with the team since its first race in Australia last year
Although the Silverstone-based team started it season with Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella this year, Liuzzi moved up from the reserve position in order to deputise as his compatriot transferred to Ferrari. After scoring its first pole position, World Championship points and a podium in 2009, Vijay Mallya hopes for more in 2010.
"We are very pleased to retain the services of both Adrian and Tonio for another season," the team co-owner said. "We have always maintained that consistency is key at this stage in the team's development and for the first time in many years we will have the continuity of, not only the same drivers, but also the same engine and senior management."
Liuzzi took the reigns from Fisichella for Monza
"2010 will be my fourth consecutive year with the team," commented Sutil. "I feel good here, it feels like family, and when you feel at ease you can focus your energy 100% on getting it right on track. Next season I want to be in the points on a regular basis, maybe even challenging for the podium, and the team has exactly the same goals. We are going massively in the right direction so with our combined energies I'm confident we can achieve even more than last season."
For Liuzzi, the confirmation is a relief as well as a proud moment. "It was always my goal to be back racing in 2010 and I've finally achieved it," he explained. "I feel the five races I did in 2009 were a bit of a warm-up; get back racing, learn the car, get the feeling back. Now I've done that I feel ready to really push next season. We were pretty strong in the last part of the 2009 season so if we pick up where we stopped I think we could be in for a good year. For sure, points are the aim, and showing everyone what we can do."

Lotus signs Trulli and Kovalainen
14 December 2009
Lotus has confirmed that Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will be making up its driver line-up as the famous team name returns to Formula 1 next season. The duo, each with a single race win to their name, will be joined by Malaysian Fairuz Fauzy who steps in as test and reserve driver.
Tony Fernandes, Team Principal of Lotus F1
Tony Fernandes, Team Principal of Lotus F1
At Monday's official announcement in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak revealed the Lotus F1 team's drivers.
Speaking at the launch, team owner and Principal Tony Fernandes said: "I am thrilled that we have been able to sign Jarno, Heikki and Fairuz to drive for Lotus F1 Racing in our debut season. It is a testament to the quality of our team, to our ambition and drive and, above all, to our long-term vision of success in Formula 1.
"Jarno and Heikki are winners, have proven track records in Formula 1 and will be a big asset to us as we look to develop the team and the car throughout 2010; they are two extremely versatile drivers who have proven themselves more than capable of achieving solid results, no matter how tough the conditions.
Fauzy was runner-up in this year's World Series by Renault
Fauzy was runner-up in this year's World Series by Renault
"Having Fairuz on-board is also great news. He is undoubtedly the best Malaysian senior driver at the moment and it is a pleasure to welcome him into Malaysia's Formula 1 team.
"We only secured our 2010 entry from the FIA in September and already we have our first car in production and have signed two Formula 1 race winners to drive for us, as well as a home-grown Malaysian driver - not bad for three months' hard work! There is more to come from us and we head into the holiday period buoyed by what we have accomplished already but inspired to push the boundaries yet further."

Schumacher close to Mercedes deal?
12 December 2009
Reports of Michael Schumacher making a Formula 1 comeback continue to strengthen in Germany this weekend, with the 7-time World Champion now believed to have a verbal deal in place to race with the Brackley-based Mercedes team next year.
Although Schumacher renewed his Ferrari contract as a supervisor for the team as recently as in September, it is thought that the German is now in negotiations to bring an end to what had been established as a 3-year deal at Maranello.
Current reports from Bild state that the 40-year-old, who will have celebrated his next birthday by the time the new season begins in March, is now only a signature away from signing a 1-year deal as Nico Rosberg's team-mate, which would also see him reunited with Team Principal Ross Brawn following ten seasons together at Ferrari between 1997 and 2006.

Virgin confirms di Grassi for 2010
15 December 2009
Virgin Racing has revealed that Lucas di Grassi will be partnering Timo Glock as the team prepares for its first season of Formula 1 next year. With the German having been confirmed at the team just under a month ago, the arrival of the Brazilian signals a move from Renault after spending six years with the French marque.
With Manor GP having become Virgin Racing, the official relabeling of the Sheffield team came on Tuesday, with a presentation being held in London's Notting Hill.
Part of Renault's young driver programme since 2004, di Grassi raced to third overall with Manor in the 2005 F3 Euroseries and the 25-year-old Brazilian has since finished in the top three of the last three years' GP2 championships. He was promoted to the role of Renault reserve driver this season as Romain Grosjean moved up to the race team following the sudden departure of Nelson Piquet Jr.
'I want to thank everyone who helped me, especially my family,' di Grassi wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Kobayashi signs with Sauber
17 December 2009
Ex Toyota driver Kamui Kobayashi has been confirmed as a Sauber driver ahead of the 2010 season. The signing marks the first full-time drive in Formula 1 for the Japanese driver and the first for the Hinwil team since it was bought back from BMW by former owner Peter Sauber.
Kobayashi scored points in only his second Formula 1 race
Kobayashi scored points in only his second Formula 1 race
With both himself and compatriot Takuma Sato on the list of possible drivers for next season, the confirmation of Kobayashi confirms that Japan will have at least one contender in the field. Following his impressive debut in Brazil, which saw him pick up ninth place, Kobayashi scored his first World Championship points with sixth in Abu Dhabi.
Following his eyebrow-raising results at Interlagos and Yas Marina, a Toyota 2010 drive looked certain for 23-year-old Kamui until the manufacturer withdrew its Formula 1 team only three days after the season's final race.
Peter Sauber, Team Principal of Sauber
Peter Sauber, Team Principal of Sauber
"Ever since the start of my career, I have dreamed of racing in Formula 1," said Hyogo's Kobayashi, GP2 Asia Series Champion of 2008-2009. "Now this dream has come true. I am very happy that my two races of 2009 have earned me a cockpit place. I will do my very best for Peter Sauber's team and I am proud to be able to carry on flying the Japanese flag in Formula 1."
"I'm very much looking forward to working together with Kamui," added Team Principal Peter Sauber. "In the final two Grands Prix of last season he was granted an unexpected chance to show his skills and he made impressive use of it - particularly in the Abu Dhabi race, he demonstrated not only that he can drive fast and aggressively but also his ability to successfully implement a strategy. I am convinced he has a great deal of potential and will be able to make the most of it in our team."
Bye Bye Ferrari! Schumi has quit his contract with Ferrari and will prolly drive for Mercedes!!! :)

Seven-times Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher will come out of retirement to race for Mercedes next year, BBC Sport understands.
The German, who will be 41 on 3 January, has signed a contract and the deal will be announced imminently.

And it is official...............
Confirmed: Schumacher to return with Mercedes
23 December 2009
After much speculation over the course of past weeks and three and a half years after his retirement from racing, 7-time World Champion Michael Schumacher will be making a sensational comeback next year with the Mercedes-Benz works team.
With several rumours having recently circulated surrounding the future of Schumacher, the German has remained silent as gossip continued about a possible Formula 1 comeback with the Champion Mercedes team, formerly Brawn GP.
Michael Schumacher is back after a 3-year break from driving
Michael Schumacher is back after a 3-year break from driving
Now, just two days before Christmas and with the driver set to be 41 years of age by the time the new season starts in Bahrain next March, the team has confirmed the deal in a press conference at its Stuttgart headquarters on Wednesday morning.
The return sees 'Schumi' reunited with Ross Brawn, Mercedes Team Principal, with whom he has worked during all of his championship years due to the Englishman's previous roles as Technical Director at the Benetton and Ferrari teams.
On retiring from F1 at the end of the 2006 season, having narrowly lost out in that year's title race to Renault's Fernando Alonso, Schumacher took with him an incredible statistics sheet of 91 race victories, 68 pole positions and 76 fastest laps as well as the championship titles record.
Following his debut at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, the former Jordan, Benetton and Ferrari driver has also finished on the podium more times than anybody, led more laps than any other driver in the history of the sport and scored a grand total of 1,369 World Championship points to date.
SChumi plans to drive 3 more years!! Ohh Germany is celebrating... :D

Official: De la Rosa joins Sauber
The Sauber team has confirmed that former McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa will be racing with the Hinwil outfit this year, marking the Barcelona driver's first full-time outing in Formula 1 since the 2002 season. The former Arrows, Jaguar and McLaren driver will be 39 years old by the time the season kicks off in Bahrain.
With Peter Sauber having bought back the team he sold to BMW at the end of 2005, ex Toyota driver and 2008-09 GP2 Asia Series Champion Kamui Kobayashi was the first to be signed by the Swiss outfit. Despite racing with McLaren for selected races in 2005 and 2006, the full-time race contract is de la Rosa's first since that with Jaguar eight years ago.
"I always firmly believed I would be given another chance as a team driver," he said, having been frustrated last year at the lack of testing time and now becoming the second Spanish driver in the field once again. "Since the number of test drives were radically reduced, this was what I was working towards. I'm really excited about the season with Peter Sauber's team, which has been a solid fixture in Formula 1 ever since 1993."
"Pedro has spent many years working for a top team at the highest technical level," added Team Principal Peter Sauber, with the 2010 car set to be launched in Valencia on Sunday 31 January.
"We as a team stand to gain from his experience and the same goes for young Kamui. The combination of a seasoned racer and an up-and-coming young driver has repeatedly proved a very fruitful one.
"I don't expect either of them to disappoint in 2010. Of course it is also crucial that we provide them with a decent car; I feel positive about our in-house progress on that front too. We were able to continue work on our 2010 car as scheduled throughout the recent period of uncertainty."

Lopez confirmed at US F1
On Monday evening the US F1 team announced that it has signed up former Renault F1 test driver Jose Maria Lopez. The 26-year-old is the first to get signed up by the brand-new Formula 1 team that will enjoy its debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix in March.
Jose Maria Lopez was close to a contract for months but his official assigment as the team's race driver wasn't announced until Monday evening. "Securing 'Pechito' Lopez for our debut season has been a goal of ours for a long time," said US F1 Team Executive Vice President Peter Windsor. "We've been following his career since he dominated the Renault V6 Championship in 2003 and we're thrilled to have him on board as we return America to Formula One. Lopez is a consummate professional and born leader.
"The most revealing thing about his character was how he handled the disappointment of not racing for Renault after three years of testing with them in F1. Instead of moping around and feeling sorry for himself, he returned to Argentina and totally dominated the local scene, winning 38 races and three championships. He became a major star as a result and, in turn, the Argentine nation - a country where F1 is second only to soccer - has got behind him."
As proof of that, Lopez's US F1 contract was officially announced by the President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, in the Casa Rosada (Government House) in Buenos Aires on the afternoon of January 25.
The Mercedes car looks nice. :D

Petrov joins Kubica as Renault reveals R30
Vitaly Petrov will become the first Russian driver in Formula 1 history this season as he partners Poland's Robert Kubica at Renault. The Enstone team's 2010 R30 car was revealed in Valencia on Sunday afternoon, with Jérôme D'Ambrosio and Ho-Pin Tung lining up as test drivers.
With Sauber having been the first of two teams to reveal its new car in Valencia on Sunday, the unveiling of Renault's R30 sees the now Genii Capital-owned squad - which rejoined Formula 1 as a works team for 2002 - revert to its traditional yellow and black colours, first seen for its F1 debut in 1978.
2009 GP2 runner-up Petrov has long since been tipped as a Renault driver for this season and the 25-year-old from Vyborg is the first Russian ever to enter F1.
Test drivers D'Ambrosio and Tung, Belgian and Dutch-Chinese respectively, are part of the Gravity Sport driver management company run by Genii owner Gerard Lopez.
Like Mercedes on Monday, Renault's new livery is rumoured to have been displayed on a previously used chassis; nonetheless, it's R30 will be out on-track in the hands of Kubica on Monday morning.

I believe the Sauber is currently the best looking car. Just look how low it is and the details on the front wing. You see that most teams have put a lot more attention in to the aerodynamics this year. Not surprisingly really as no changes to the engine are allowed so then the aerodynamics is the easiest way to gain speed. But generally most cars look far better this year and much more in proportion with both wings. (Compared to last year)
Also today sees the launch of Virgin Racing and the first of the new teams. Virgins car has been completely developed by computers and no wind tunnels so interesting to see what the result is.

McLaren was so disappointing
Jensn and Lewis should do better I can't stand seeing Alonso winning races again.

McLaren one-two in friday practice, looking good
Lewis fastest in practice good to see :D Lets hope he does the same tomorrow and gets P1. :D
If James Hunt had lit up his tires on the street and got a ticket everyone would have had a good laugh. Today it is practically a felony. Truly a shame the big deal people make out of nonsense.
Hamilton looking great in practice again... 7am Qualifying tomorrow :0
Lewis or Jenson for pole
If a McLaren's on pole they've won, they have the best long term running.
Hamilton out at the first session again!! :/

so whos gonna win the next race? webber or vettel imo
I'm hoping for Vettel.. But, as the nature of the sport that is probably not going to happen, I'm guessing Massa or Alonso
this season my dude is driving... :-) My fan michael shumaer

I think they should add more racetracks like Montreal! I mean US ones, that would be awesome.

Isn't Montreal not a track used by both NASCAR and F1?

Possible win with cheating. What a way to win this race. FIA should hand them out a very hard penalty. You cant do a teamorder better than they did.
First Massa is not full on throttle when he came out of the turn and then Smedley says to Massa "Sorry". Everybody knows they cheated.
Red Bull Chef Christian Horner said: " The drivers should battle against each other even if they are in the same team. It is disappointing for the fans that they couldnt see the battle between the two Ferrari

Hamilton has a 5-place grid drop for a gearbox change, which means its going to take some major feck-ups from Alonso and Webber for him to have a say on where the title is going.
Qualifying start at 1.50am here UK time. Probably watch that and then Sky+ the race and watch it when I wake up tomorrow. Hope its still wet, but not as wet as today, to make the race exciting, and give Hamilton a chance. :D
so anyone around watchin the race in 10min?
go get em vettel!
I would if I had any idea how to see it...............
hmm where you at? not televised in your place?
start will be behind the safety car because of rain.
lol...after 3 rounds behind the safety car the race has been stopped...red flag.
too much rain

VETTEL WORLD CHAMPION 2010 !
Abu Dhabi GP 2010 - Vettel world champion.
Ferrari disaster , the last race of the championship this year, just enough to get to the fourth position, however they managed to wrest from the hands of Alonso with a global strategy by crowds back to the pits after the Spanish Felipe Massa in the opening laps of the race . Fernando has found it stuck in traffic and ended its decisive race in seventh place. Title Vettel's Red Bull deserved.

that pitstop was maybe the worst decision by ferrari this whole season... :(
on the austrian and german tv stations they said that webber had nothing to do with the wc decision and couldn´t help vettel, but imo he is the reason that vettel is champion because if webber wouldn´t have made the early pit stop, alonso couldn´t have done it either and could have get the 4th place...
but thats just alot of coulds and woulds :D

It could be that Red Bull have 'sacrificed' Webber in order to secure victory for Vettel. If Red Bull already had the notion that Ferrari would pit at the same time they might have decided to bring in Webber early. Also I'm not expecting Webber to drive for them next year. He had already a lot of comments to the Red Bull Management.

Team orders? Now the FIA says yes
Changed the rules for the 2011 season: after the controversy that accompanied the overtaking Alonso on Massa in the last edition of the Grand Prix at Hockenheim, the FIA decided to go back 10 years and opens again to team orders ...
Green Revolution or just revolution? Regardless of the color one thing is clear: the new Formula 1 season will undergo major changes. Following the meeting of the World Motor Sport Council, which took place today in Monaco, the FIA announced the abandonment of the prohibition of issuing team orders from next year.
In other words, the new sporting regulations deleted the article banning the 39.1 team orders. The FIA made it clear that will apply the rule that any actions that would bring discredit to sports will be punished according to Article 151c of the International Sporting Code.
The "case" broke out just weeks ago as a result of overtaking Alonso on Massa in the last edition of the Grand Prix at Hockenheim. A controversy which was followed by a penalty for the Ferrari team, which amounts to $ 100,000 today and he sees only one solution: a return to old ways ... those 10 years ago.
Among the changes made during the meeting a decision that from 2013 will be 4-cylinder engines of 1,600 cc. The World Council, as mentioned, has approved the introduction of a new specification engine confirming the commitment of the FIA to improve the sustainability and address the needs of the sector. Following dialogue with engine manufacturers and experts in this field, the power supply units will be 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter high-pressure fuel injection up to 500 bar with a maximum of 12,000 rpm. The search engine will provide a 35% reduction in fuel consumption and will feature an extensive power management and energy recovery systems, while maintaining current levels of performance. In 2013, five engines will be allowed to pilot will be allowed, but the following year the limit will be four.
