don't know if there are any die-hard husky fans here on [wiziwig], but i figured i'd create the thread, nonetheless. this is a place for discussion and sharing your thoughts on the past, present, and future of the UW teams (all sports.)

although i myself am not a "true believer" in the huskies, i do live in the area and would like to see them do well. the football team has been so wretchedly poor for so long, i find my self rooting for them in spite of my predilection for the big10:)

with that, let the discussion begin.

P.S.
i will try to stream Husky football classics every Monday.
i'll start the broadcast with coach sarkisian's press conference. tune in on mondays @ 9:30 PM Eastern (6:30 PM Pacific) for "straight from sark," followed by a classic husky game.

P.P.S.
you can also catch sark's weekly radio show on J's Radio Two (st://A0kCgpwEdUEDQQWCoAHIgBYnm9YAosH7c6QMlsP3P6zCihcPSm F5J3MgUmFkaW8gVHdvikELbG9jYWxkb21haW6KogVSYWRpbw== ) right before monday night football.

tonight's husky classic: Ohio State @ UW, from september 10, 1994, on J's Stereo Feed 350k (st://A1ACgpwEdUgDSAaCoAHIgBbt9ADfcUwmCt1qIZ3A8aBUihcRSm F5J3MgU3RlcmVvIEZlZWSKYQCKQQtsb2NhbGRvbWFpboqiB0dl bmVyYWw=).

broadcast starts @ 9:30 p.m. Eastern (6:30 Pacific) with "straight from sark," followed by the game.

enjoy:)

EDIT: well, the huskies dominated my buckeyes in this game, but it was still fun to watch all the great old buckeyes players. korey stringer (R.I.P.,) eddie george, bobby hoying. orlando pace as a true freshman. shawn springs' freshman season. terry glenn, buster tillman, lorenzo styles, greg bellisari, ricky dudley, mike vrabel. quite a few future nfl'ers in that list. joey gallaway didn't play, as he was suspended for taking two hundred bucks from an "academic advisor"--LOL.

some great old huskies in this game, too: daman huard, lawyer milloy, mark bruener, and--of course--napoleon kaufman.

in the battle of the RB's, napoleon got the better of mr. george on this day: eddie ended with about 140 yards, while kaufman had 208!

keep on posting them washington huskies bball stream, both tv and radio. I've been looking everywhere for them. same with football. thanks aloti certainly will.:) it'll be mostly radio, as without cable it's getting harder and harder to actually see a game! but if the huskies ever make it onto one of the broadcast networks, i'll definitely put it up.

I'm interested in learning how to stream live games either watching or through radio. What is the best way to go about it? Any suggestions? How do you become a moderator also? Thanks

I'm interested in learning how to stream live games either watching or through radio. What is the best way to go about it? Any suggestions? How do you become a moderator also? Thankswe'd love to have you as a streamer, husky!--especially radio ;)

to stream, you'll need the following:
1. a video capture card and/or a sound card. (most computers have the soundcard built right into the motherboard.)
2. software to compress/encode the video and/or audio data. (e.g., WME9, afritelly, VLC, etc.)
3. a streaming platform to send it out to the world. (e.g., Sopcast, goalbit, streamtorrent (the best,) etc.)

there is much free software out there to cover parts 2 & 3 above.

and part 1 is pretty simple really. e.g., i use streamtorrent to stream p2p--both TV & radio. for radio, i have a small battery-powered AM/FM radio. an audio cable with stereo mini-plug on both ends connects from the headphone jack of the radio directly to the "input" jack on my motherboard's built-in soundcard. i then use WME to encode the audio, and Streamtorrent to distribute it.

video is roughly the same, only instead of a radio with a headphone plug, i use a VCR with composite output (RCA plugs.) the trick here, is being sure to choose a video capture card that will work with your video source. (e.g., you wouldn't want to buy a card that has only coaxial inputs, if your video source has only HDMI outputs.) there are many varieties out there, and many knowledgeable people here can recommend one that will work for your set up. (probably a Hauppage card?)

at any rate, take a look at some of the streaming guides here:
Broadcasting-Streaming (http://www.myp2pforum.eu/forums/27-Broadcasting-Streaming).
http://www.myp2pforum.eu/forums/5-P2P-Programs-Discussion

another place to check out would be the hardware & software sections here:
http://www.myp2pforum.eu/forums/47-Software
http://www.myp2pforum.eu/forums/46-Hardware

P.S. you'll also need sufficient upload bandwidth for your chosen distribution method. e.g., ST requires about three times the bandwidth of the stream's bitrate. i.e., for a 300kbps stream, you would need 900+kbps of Upload bandwidth. sopcast takes a little more. more info on this topic can be found in the guides.

P.P.S. moderators are invited by admin on an as needed basis. (with only 2 posts, and no steaming experience, i think you've a long way to go ;))

So im guessing you can't do it from your laptop? Or if so, you would have to open it and connect it somehow?

So im guessing you can't do it from your laptop? Or if so, you would have to open it and connect it somehow?well, you might be able to use a usb video-capture device... (check the hardware and software forums for more info.)

and as for radio, most laptops that i've seen have audio input jacks, usually right next to the headphone output.

ok, huskies fans--it's a new year, and a new era. how the huskies gonna adjust to life without Jake?.. and playing in a (semi-)new conference?
expectations are high. can the huskies live up to them?

well, the dawgs are 2-0 to start the year... BIG test next week.

Big time test.

Perennial pesky Fresno State(who I'd love to see in the Pac div), showed that Nebraska can be got to.

Looking over the Dawgs schedule, I reckon 8 wins is a possibility this year, if they can continue to improve week on week.

The 3 games after Nebraska are very winnable.
Bears look a bit average.....again.
Utes are beatable if you can pressure their sidearn slinging QB.
Colorado, in Seattle are beatable.

Inter state rivals Wassu have surprised so far.
They have 3 away games next, but if the offense continues to perform they have the chance to start the year 5-0 !!!!!
SDSU looked decent against Army, but nowhere as good as last year.
Colorado improved tenfold vs the Bears, after the merdfest at Hawaii. This'll be tough.
UCLA could be the worst team in the PAC.

The loss of QB Jeff Teul could catch up with them.

so far, the huskies are looking like a dark-horse in the pac10. cougs better eat their wheaties if they want to take home the apple cup this year!

well, husky fans... another football season is fast approaching--and it promises to be an intriguing one. in my opinion the biggest question is: how will the dawgs fare without chris polk? the D should be much improved from the last couple of seasons. can the dawgs compete in a conference with a revitalized USC, stanford, and the quacks?

once again this year, i will be streaming bob rondeau and the gang on husky radio for every game, so we'll have at least something when the huskies don't make it onto national TV.

see you all in the fall--and go dawgs! (and bucks ;))
