Birmingham City will be looking to pull well clear off the relegation zone by securing a vital win when they welcome Newcastle United in their next Premier League clash on Tuesday.
The clash against the Magpies represents Birmingham’s game in hand and manager Alex McLeish will be hoping to make full use of the opportunity to go four points clear off the relegation zone.
The Blues go into the match on the back of a recent good form that has seen them pick eight points from their last five games with the only defeat coming against Manchester United. Birmingham secured three vital points last weekend as they beat fellow relegation battlers West Ham thanks to a 65th minute strike by Nikola Zigic.
Newcastle on the other hand are struggling to collect all three points with the Magpies not winning in their last four games. With a difficult set of fixtures up next, manager Alan Pardew will be aware that his side’s chances of finishing in the top half of the table will depend on how they play in their next few games starting with the clash against Birmingham.
There is nothing much to choose between the two teams with both of them winning a game each in the last five meetings.
