I will be amazed if you don't whup the Geordie's, I reckon about 4-0, I hope they beat you but they have about as much chance of that as I have of humping Angelina Jolie

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was walking down the road when he saw a little old lady carrying a bag of heavy shopping.
"Can you manage love?" he asked.
"**** off," she said. "I don't want the job".

Should be an easy win but i am not expecting a thrashing
very suprised to read that OH and Saha have picked up injuries - so unlike them! i think its too early for GN. my line up
VDS PE, NV, RF, DS, RG, Andy, MC, CR, WR, CT.
thats if CT is fit. then after 45mins replace RG with Nani.
i predict united 3 newcastle 1 goals from rooney x 2 cr x 1
hmm.. I seen that sig before?

Unfortunately you're probably right, but u of all ppl should know we can surprise everyone, we outplayed chelsea at the bridge and only lost to an offside goal, and we held ur guys to a draw, the lads will be up for this one, my head says 4-1 to the Mancs, but my heart says the Toon will steal it

We will see, Do your bragging after the match not before it... Maybe we will get stuffed but if we don't you guys are gonna look kinda silly...
Yes we have problems but to be honest with you I think Sam was part of those problems... I never supported his appointment and I'm glad he has gone, his decisions in my eyes were aweful and the team always looked disjointed, not playing a 10million pound striker for 90 miutes every game is suicidal and as for Alan Smith, well he has been non existent exept for when he gets carded, I believe we have the players now to be a top 6 team if we get the right man for the job, Zog and butt/Faye would make a nice combination in the middle of the park with duff and milner on the wings, with time, consistancy, a captains armband always on the same players arm and money to spend, well you never know ;)
It's good to see that we have a board with sense, Well kind of, thank goodness Redknapp refused the job too, we don't need another medioce manager we need quality, someone call Mouriniho :)
I wish sam all the best but I think he over complicated things and the sides he put out looked disorganised and 1 dimentional...
someone plans to gice here mms link for the match?

Looks like some interesting developments on Tyneside today Lads, starting to worry about the new ownership regime; here's my thoughts, appreciate your views in respose
1. Sack the manager - ok he was brought in by FS and new owner = new prerogative as the results determined the outcome, this much is clear - just look at the debacle against Stoke last Sunday, I mean it's not like it was broadcast on the BBC, Live for the world to see, d'oh.
2. A risky strategy [less so if it pays off] in going to offer to 'Arry an aladin's cave of riches with which to invest in new players, Ashley and Mort obviously did not trust BSA with their cash.
3. 'Arry [and this is quite honourable of the man to come out openly and say so] turns down the offer, quoting support from the south coast as an overriding factor, and again credit to him, he told players he was bringing in that there were plans to take Pompey places, and true to his word in staying put he has reinforced that view and so this should boost Pompey's upcoming performances
4. Where does this now leave us? Talk about burning bridges. OK Alex Ferguson was on his way out until Mark Robbins popped up in the FA Cup and saved his neck, should BSA have been given more time to play players in the RIGHT position

My view is it's a complete farse for big Sam to get the axe, Newcastle were 11th? right, nothing special but i'm sure he wouldn't of dropped more in the season. Look at Martin O'neil he had a tough start he had plenty draws and was not getting as much results as were expected for a manager with his experience, they need to realise its a new team a new adaptation he needs to take. Look at Villa now they are raking the dividends for keeping faith in O'neil, after this I really think it's extremely bad for Newcastle as no-one will want to go there as it is almost like the England job, the expectations are far to high, putting poeple off and with Redknapp turning down, I really don't see many other better managers than Allardyce available.
Predictions for the game with Rooney starting should be 3 or 4 - 0, I don't see us conceding at Trafford.

Hi Steve :)
I am a firm believer in consistancy but also in facts, BSA really wasn't that good a manager, looking at his statistics this becomes evident... Certainly not suprised by the current results, BSA talks a great game and he even convinced me for a while with his "Geremi is a fantastic player took Zog under his wing" what rubbish he dropped him completely from the side 2 weeks later and put Alan Smith of all people in his place who looks like he does not know which way to kick the ball...
Not since Souness have I had such disappointment, I don't mind losing if I see the best players playing and they seem to have a system... I remember comparing Ericssons stats with BSA in the summer and trust me it's shocking stuff you didn't need to be a brain surgeon to realise Man City were going to be a force this season, Ericsson phobia grabbed the nation due to the media as usual and from there on in any club with a british chairman would avoid the fella even though he is one of the best managers in the world...
The news of Redknapp really suprised me, I had the Deja Vu feeling and illness in my stomach but I am glad that is over now, I think fear of failure detered mr. Redknapp and rightly so, this is not your mid table battle club or even a uefa cup team we wanna be in the top 4...
Now how many managers in the world could get a club into the top 4? Well Moriniho did it and Mr. moneybags ashleys (All I hear bout laterly is how he is a billionaire) will need to cough up some of those millions if he wants sucess... Other than that we have to look for a sucessful foreign coach...

Why would the Club make a manager that hasn't won anything a candidate for a club that NEEDS to win something????
I hope it's not deja vu again... appointing a manager doing well at a smaller club that hasn't won anything and putting him in a bigger club where he also won't win anything...
If I remember rightly Bobby Robson was our last good manager and he got sacked for no reason, he actually had the calabre to bring quality to the club and sucess but instead they sacked him...
Bobby should never have been sacked....

12-01-2008, 15:00
It has to be Jose, He is the best candidate by far, there are people like Hidink and the owners must say t themselves we paid 250 Million for this club and now we are gonna make the best investment of our lives in jose and the players he wants to bring in...
seems Mark hughes is the favorite now... Oh Joy... :(

For me : Shearer
1. Known the club better than most
2. Will gain instant dressing room respect and from media - will take no sh*t from anyone
3. Overlook the experience angle, he helped GR and got us into UEFA cup season before last
4. Will talk to the BBC ;)
c'om toons !! beat man utd plz
I Think we will win comfortably.... and would have won even though Newcastle has problems.

Can't disagree, it was some hit. Anelka is quality he had a wry smile on his face after one of his misses, but he'll come good at Chelsea.
Looking forward to today's game, I know we'll get beat and that's not a defeatist attitude, it's reality given our current situation.

The only people who actually like Man Utd are Man Utd fans .... And that's not me saying that, that's fact..... Ask ANY supporter!

Owen wasn't offside no, but everyone stopped when the whistle blew, and that was down to the linesman getting it wrong, not the referee who must've been bunged Big Sam's pay check this week.
As for the Ronaldo "penalty", I've only see the one replay so it's hard to comment, but Carr did stick out a leg, and leave it in the path of a running man, so it could've been given. I'll make my mind up when I can see a decent replay.

Of course I'm a lifelong Toon fan so I am always living in hope :) but hey, stranger things happen in this great game they call football
Keegan and Shearer to replace BSA !!!!!!

you mean like how you were puckering up gay gunner when we walloped you at the emirates? when the full time whistle went you would have thought arsenal had won by the way they were running round cheering & not scrapped a draw!!
Makes no odds to me fella, read back ....
As for the celebrations..... Blimey, I've seen Man Utd celebrate like that when they've played Dagenham and Redbridge  .... Actually, I believe they celebrated harder
I remember you celebrating harder than that against AC Milan in the first leg last year .....
Alot of good that did ya
where wer u den ,sorry u were alreaady kicked out the champions league and the fa cup and out of teh premiership running
We were indeed .... Beaten fair and square in every competition ... Last year we were building ... In fact, we're still building .... Blimey, RVP has barely played this year ... Imagine when that boy hits form
Still, it matters not where you go out in any competition ... First round, Semi's.... Makes no odds does it? Do you get extra points for getting further and then being humiliated in the semi?

This is in reply to toon-army
you think Arry hasn't got the balls to manage your club.Bulls*T the man has his balls in loyalty.
It was annouced earlier this afternoon that he was interested in coming , but wanted to commute on a regular basis to the South Coast which Newcastle and Chris Mort wouldnt have. This came out of the club from an insider.
Really?
I saw him on football focus saying that there's no way he's going .... Portsmouth have been good to him and so he'll stay to show them the same ....
He also said moving his family wasn't the problem .... Just that he owes it to Portsmouth to stay.
1. Have to say I do not want 'Arry - nothing against him he's great for Pompey and he's doing a great job there
2. Massive credit to the man for say that he didn't want it, he's 60 FGS, all those flights to the NE for training would wear the poor sod out, then there's the nagging from the Mrs to contend with!
