Out: Neville (knee).

Referee: Anthony Taylor. Matches: 23, R6 Y57.

Team News

Chelsea captain John Terry, midfielder Eden Hazard and left-back Ryan Bertrand will miss Sunday's final match of the Barclays Premier League season at home to Everton.

But striker Demba Ba is available for selection once more after being ineligible in Amsterdam.

Forward Victor Moses and midfielder John Obi Mikel were unused substitutes for the Blues in midweek, while Oriol Romeu travelled with the squad following his long-term absence with a knee problem and is in contention for the Stamford Bridge clash.

Everton captain Phil Neville has played his final game for the club, manager David Moyes has confirmed. Neville, whose career as an Everton player is concluding this summer, has been sidelined recently by a knee problem and will not be fit to feature against Chelsea.

The match is Moyes' last before he replaces retiring Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Midfielder Leon Osman will miss the contest due to a knee complaint.

Match Notes

An afternoon of goodbyes at Stamford Bridge.

David Moyes is guaranteed a rapturous farewell from the Everton fans and it just possible that Rafael Benítez may finally be shown some appreciation by the Chelsea supporters after Wednesday’s dramatic Europa League triumph.

Chelsea must also win tomorrow to be sure of finishing third.

A draw and there would be the prospect of a play-off against Arsenal to conclude their epic 70-game.

Stat of the game: If Everton draw, for a 16th game time this season, it will be their most stalemates in a season for 18 years.
Good bye Sir Alex!!

Clarke: Patience paid off at United

West Brom head coach Steve Clarke hosts Sir Alex Ferguson's farewell at the Hawthorns on Sunday admitting the Manchester United manager would never be given the same time to prove himself in the modern game as he enjoyed in his early Old Trafford career.

Ferguson endured three difficult seasons with the Red Devils after taking over in 1986 but the club kept faith in him and have been rewarded spectacularly in the years since.

He finally bows out for good this weekend having won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, five FA Cups and four League Cups for United, along with numerous other pieces of silverware.

Clarke is one of many in the game happy to laud Ferguson's achievements - but knows the patience United showed in him is unlikely to be seen again.

He said: ``Would he get three years now like he did at United? No. I don't think so in this day and age. It just shows you, eh? Patience is a virtue.

``Nearly 27 years is a great shift. Listen, he did the hard work in Scotland.

``He started with St Mirren, my club, with a great tradition to build on. So by the time I got there Sir Alex had left but the players he brought into that club carried the club to European competitions for a number of years after that so he gave a good basis there.

``St Mirren did sack him. They were probably forced to sack him - I would imagine Sir Alex in those days was a bit fiery and ready to fight the chairman. I can't remember if the St Mirren chairman said he wasn't manager material, I was a young lad in those days.

``To be a manager or a head coach you have to be resilient; you have to know there will be bad times to go with the good times. The good ones have more good times than bad times.''

Clarke added: ``He went to Aberdeen and broke the Old Firm monopoly. He came down to England for another challenge and struggled for three years, but he got the time to build because in those days you got the time to build.

``Over the years he's built a dynasty, one of the biggest clubs in the world and they just went from strength to strength, every year they were always challenging for honours so he did a fantastic job.''

Clarke's only injury concern is over right-back Steven Reid as the Baggies look to finish their best Premier League season on a high following a recent dip in form.

Ferguson has confirmed Anders Lindegaard will start his final game as Manchester United manager - and Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand will be on the bench.

Ferguson promised Lindegaard he would make sure he reached the 10 Barclays Premier League appearances which at the time the Scot thought were required to qualify for a title winners' medal.

The manager has since learned that he would have been able to give Lindegaard a medal anyway, but nevertheless he intends to stand by his pledge to get the Dane into double figures at West Brom on Sunday.

Robin van Persie is delighted Manchester United got to complete the championship puzzle in Ferguson's last season as a manager.

Looking back, Van Persie's arrival at Old Trafford last summer was one of the most significant signs Ferguson was thinking of calling time on the most successful career British football has ever known.

After all, for four years he had been preaching the gospel of ``value in the market``, then all of a sudden he persuaded the Glazer family to spend £24million on a 29-year-old who only had a year left on his contract with Arsenal. Given what had gone before, it was bordering on reckless.

But Ferguson knew the quality he was getting, just as he soon discovered the fierce team ethic that drives the Dutchman, who, barring Gareth Bale smashing the Premier League record for most goals in a game, will be crowned Golden Boot winner for the second season running.

And, despite all the glory that has been heaped on Van Persie's shoulders over the past nine months, his instinct remains to spread the load.

``This team is unbelievable,'' Van Persie told MUTV.

``Every team of champions starts with a good atmosphere and the idea that every single person wants to share success and everybody wants to play their part in it.

``That is how you achieve big things and win trophies. It is like a puzzle that needs to add up so that in the end, the final puzzle means trophies.``

Aside from long-term absentees, keeper Richard Lee (shoulder) and left-back Scott Barron (hip), Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has no injury concerns.

The Bees, who last played in the second tier in 1992-93, have not won promotion in six previous play-off campaigns.

Yeovil have no new injury problems for their first trip to Wembley since 2007.

Defenders Jamie McAllister and Dan Burn remain fit despite struggling with ankle injuries before the semi-final against Sheffield United.

Brentford finished third in the League One table after missing a last-minute penalty on the final day against Doncaster which would have won them automatic promotion.

Having overcome Swindon on penalties in their play-off semi-final, Brentford midfielder Sam Saunders is confident they will be able to perform at Wembley.

"The boys have played big games this season, with Chelsea home and away in the FA Cup, Doncaster at home and the Swindon games," Saunders told BBC London 94.9.

"We know being at Wembley will be a big factor but hopefully we can perform as we have done all season.

"Even though these are young lads they are playing in massive games and that can only make them stronger as characters and men.

"A lot of them have grown and come on leaps and bounds. Hopefully they can grab the occasion by the scruff of the neck and show what good players they are."

Although Brentford finished two points ahead of Yeovil in the final standings, Gary Johnson's Glovers beat the Bees twice over the season - 3-1 away in August and 3-0 at Huish Park in February.

And following their 2-1 aggregate win over Sheffield United, Johnson insists confidence is high: "The mood is really good," he told BBC Points West.

"It's very committed and professional. We want to go to Wembley to compete in what will be the biggest game in some of our lives.

"We've tried very hard to get our preparations correct so by kick-off on Sunday we are ready."

It is 10 years since Johnson led Yeovil into the Football League, during his first spell at the club, and the 57-year-old reached the Championship play-off final during his time managing Bristol City.

Assistant Terry Skiverton also tasted Wembley misery as a player in the Glovers squad in the 2006-07 season, when Russell Slade's side lost 2-0 against Blackpool in the League One final.

"The benefit I have is that I've already been beaten in this game," said Skiverton.

"I was an unused substitute on the day as I was just coming back from injury.

"I remember the disappointment was huge. To get there and be so disappointing in our performance was crushing.

"We now need to instil belief in the lads that we can do it. We're not just going there to make up the numbers.

"People say you can go there and have a good day. Not if you get beat you can't."

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

• These clubs have only met 16 times, with Yeovil winning nine, Brentford five with two drawn.

• Yeovil did the league double over the Bees this season with a 3-1 win at Griffin Park in August and a 3-0 triumph on home soil in February.

• The Glovers are chasing a fourth successive victory over Brentford, who last beat the Somerset club in August 2011, with a 2-0 home win in League One.

Brentford

• Uwe Rosler's Brentford qualified for this final by beating Swindon on penalties in the play-off semi-finals after sharing eight goals over the two legs.

• The Bees famously missed out on automatic promotion to Doncaster in the most dramatic of circumstances on the final day and have not won in five games from conventional play (D4, L1).

• The West London club finished third. The highest placed club going into the play-offs at this level has been the most successful, winning promotion in 10 of the 26 years since the end-of-season competition was instituted.

• They have never been promoted through the play-offs, despite six previous attempts.

• They reached the final twice, losing 1-0 to Crewe in May 1997 at the old Wembley and 2-0 to Stoke at the Millennium Stadium in 2002 - both were at Division Two (third tier) level.

• Brentford have spent the last four seasons in League One, but have only had one campaign in the second tier in the last 59 years; 1992/93.

• The Griffin Park club are making a second visit to the new Wembley, and will be hoping for a better result than last time, when they lost 1-0 to Carlisle in the final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on 3 April 2011, in front of 40,476.

Yeovil Town

• Gary Johnson's Yeovil qualified for this second visit to the new Wembley by beating Sheffield United in the play-off semi-finals, overturning a 1-0 first leg deficit at Bramall Lane, with a 2-0 victory at Huish Park.

• The Glovers achieved their highest ever finish of fourth from their 10th season as a Football League club, and eighth in League One; one place and two points inferior to Brentford, despite two more wins and nine more goals.

• Yeovil are hoping to become the third club in successive seasons to finish fourth in League One and gain promotion by winning the play-off final.

• The Glovers' only previous experience of the play-offs was at this level in May 2007, when they were beaten 2-0 by Blackpool in the final at Wembley.

• Gary Johnson, who returned to Huish Park as manager in January, is trying to win promotion to the second tier, having guided the Somerset club from the Conference to League One in his previous spell in charge.

Matchday starts with two teams with nothing to win or lose. Depor must use this chance against a lately relatively weak Espanyol to stay in La Liga. The Basques only need 1 point to survive. Champion Barcelona against a team that doesn't need to fight. Therefore we will see a very different lineup of the Catalans, with Thiago, Tello, maybe even Bartra and Deulofeu who just extended his contract.
Team news:

Liverpool:

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher will captain the side against QPR at Anfield on his 737th and final appearance before retirement in the absence of Steven Gerrard. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could make a couple of changes from the side that beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage on Sunday, with Jose Enrique replacing Andre Wisdom and Fabio Borini could be handed a start after impressing with two substitute appearances lately. Carragher is expected to be partnered by Sebastian Coates at the heart of the Liverpool defence with Martin Skrtel (illness) unlikely to feature.

QPR:

As for Harry Redknapp's QPR side, Jose Boswinga could have played his last game for the club after being hauled off at half-time of their 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle last time out, Fabio is expected to replace the Portuguese right-back.

Star striker Loic Remy returned to training on Friday following allegations of rape, and is available for selection, while Christopher Samba could return from a knee injury that has forced him to the Rs last three games as Julio Cesar (back) is expected to remain out.

Interesting Facts:

Jamie Carragher ends his Liverpool career having played, to date, 737 games for the club, scoring five goals. He is 5/1 to score at any time on Sunday.

The Reds legend has the unfortunate record of scoring more own goals than goals however, having sent eight in his own net.

Brendan Rodgers' side have won more top-flight games without Luis Suarez (58%) than with him (39%).

The Rs last won at Anfield back in March 1991 when a Les Ferdinand goal helped them to a 3-1 win.

Sunday 19th May KO 4.00pm
White Hart Lane N17

Match Links: http://www.wiziwig.tv/broadcast.php?...20&part=sports

White Hart Lane is the only ground that could witness mass celebration on the final day, but only if Spurs win and Arsenal don't at Newcastle.

I'm generally uneasy about a fourth-place finish being hailed as some sort of completed quest for the Holy Grail, but the prize it offers does at least give us a couple of games with genuine interest to end the season.

Having finished fourth and missed out on a Champions League place last year (due to Chelsea's triumph), Spurs will feel they deserve it this time - especially with the form they've shown in the last six months. Just two defeats in the last 21 league games is a record only the champions Manchester United can match.

Sunderland's stats aren't quite so impressive - only two wins in their last 14 games. Those wins have come in Paolo Di Canio's six games in charge though, and they've contributed crucially to the last day being a 'relaxed' one.

Relaxed for the fans that is, because if the players even think about not giving their all Di Canio has threatened to cut their summer holiday time! You can tell he means it too, with the Italian promising after last week's draw against Southampton that he is "going to change everything" during the close season.

This will be the last time a few of the current team wear the Sunderland shirt, and it might be the case for Gareth Bale sporting the cockerel crest of Spurs too. The feeling is that the Player of the Year is bound to leave if Champions League football isn't secured for next season, and that might well be out of his team's hands.

So it's eyes on the game and ears tuned to news from the north east. All Spurs can do is win the 100th league meeting of these clubs - and hope.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

•Sunderland have lost nine of their 11 Premier League matches away at Tottenham (W1 D1 L9).
•The Black Cats failed to score in both of last season's encounters with Spurs and lost 2-1 to them at the Stadium of Light in December.
•They have won just one of their last eight matches against Tottenham.

Tottenham

•Spurs currently have 69 points coming in to their final game of the season. Their best points tally in a Premier League season before this campaign was 70, set in 2009-10.
•Against Stoke, Tottenham recorded their 10th away win in the league this season which is the most they have managed since winning 12 in 1984-85. In that win they also equalled their record of scoring two or more goals in six successive Premier League away games.
•It was the first match they had won in the league without a goal from Gareth Bale since 1 January (3-1 v Reading).
•Tottenham have now scored 25 goals in the last 20 minutes of matches this season - more than any other team in the top flight.
•Emmanuel Adebayor has scored in consecutive top-flight fixtures for the first time since May 2012.
•Spurs have scored a league-high 15 goals from outside the box this season, with Gareth Bale scoring eight of these (another league-high).
•Only Teddy Sheringham (21 in 1993-94) has scored more goals in a single Premier League season for Tottenham than Gareth Bale has so far this term (20).

Sunderland

•Sunderland have scored in all six of Paolo Di Canio's games in charge. They had failed to score in four of the previous 11 matches prior to his arrival.
•The Black Cats are without their top three scorers for the rest of the season. Steven Fletcher (11), Stephane Sessegnon (seven) and Craig Gardner (six) have scored 24 of the club's 41 league goals this season (58%).
•However, striker Danny Graham has now gone 1034 minutes in all competitions without finding the back of the net.
•Their last three goals have come from defenders.
•No side has scored fewer goals in the opening 15 minutes of matches (three) or in the final 15 minutes of matches (five) than Sunderland this season.
•They have won eight points (W2 D2 L2) in their six Premier League games under new manager Paolo Di Canio. The Black Cats had won just three points (D3 L5) in their final eight games under Martin O'Neill.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will take charge of his final home game when his side take on Swansea on Sunday.

The 71-year-old is retiring at the end of the season after more than 26 years in charge at Old Trafford.

Ferguson has this year led United to a 13th league title during his tenure, with the Premier League trophy to be presented following the match.

Midfielder Paul Scholes, 38, is also to retire and is expected to play today.

Scholes initially retired at the end of the 2010-11 season before returning to action in January 2012.

There is little riding on the game, with United reclaiming the title from neighbours Manchester City when they beat Aston Villa on 22 April.

The trophy is Ferguson's 38th silverware since he joined United and the 49th of his career.

"It's fitting in many ways that it's the manager's last game at home," said United midfielder Michael Carrick. "We can celebrate the league but celebrate the manager himself and everything he brings and has brought to the club over such a length of time.

"We want to put on a performance because we want to go out on a high, we have standards and pride in ourselves.

"People might say that the game doesn't matter but it does to us. We want to win for the manager. It's his last home game so we want to make it a special occasion for him as well."

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup says he will be honoured to be in the opposite dugout for Ferguson's final game at Old Trafford.

"Unfortunately, legend is a word that is used far too often in the media today, but here we are really talking about a legend of football and I am proud to be Ferguson's opponent in his last home game as manager at Old Trafford," he said.

MATCH PREVIEW

An emotional final day of the season at Old Trafford has been taken to a whole new level. The Premier League trophy presentation party has become a grand retirement bash that tickets are in huge demand for.

For some, it still won't have properly sunk in that Manchester United will have a different man in charge of the team next season. In the space of less than 48 hours this week, football as millions have only ever known it changed massively.

The match itself is almost a side show, but with both teams able to relax and play without pressure it might turn out to be a really enjoyable one to watch.

There are still targets of sorts to aim for.

Two points from their last two games will mean Swansea beating their total of last season - a bit of a boon for Michael Laudrup over Brendan Rodgers, you might say. The visitors also have the incentive of a first-ever win away to United. We know from Tuesday's win at Wigan that they won't drop a gear just because the day isn't 'about them'.

United need to win their last two games to equal their best ever points total in a 38-game Premier League season, achieved in 1999-2000. They'd also like to find some form befitting the trophy that they'll receive at the end, having won just one of their last four games.

Above all though, they need to give the most successful manager in British football history a winning home send off.

Sir Alex Ferguson's first Old Trafford game was a 1-0 win over QPR 26-and-a-half years ago. It was watched by a crowd of 42,235 - some 14,000 short of being full. A capacity crowd of close to 76,000 will be there for his last game. I bet 26 years from now more than double that number will claim "I was there"!

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

The two clubs have only met three times in the Premier League - two United wins, one draw.
In nine attempts since 1931, Swansea have never beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford. They have lost seven times, but did grab a couple of 1-1 draws in the mid-1930s.
Swansea last beat Manchester United at Vetch Field in January 1982, a 2-0 top-flight win. In 19 meetings, the south Wales club have defeated United six times while United have won eight.

Manchester United

Against Chelsea last weekend, United failed to score for the first time in 67 successive home league games; ending what was a Premier League record (66 games).
In the same match, they picked up their first red card of the season; the last Premier League team to do so in 2012-13.
No team has gifted their opponents more own goals than Manchester United this season (five).
United have two wins from their last six league games (D2 L2).

Swansea

With victory at Wigan on Tuesday, Swansea ended their longest Premier League run (seven matches) without a win.
Swansea also scored three goals in a Premier League away match for the first time since the opening day of the season (5-0 at QPR).
The Swans have won two of their nine Premier League games since winning the Capital One Cup (D3 L4).
No side have drawn more Premier League games 0-0 this season than Swansea City (six).
Swansea have scored 12 goals in the final five minutes of matches this season (all competitions)

Referee: Mike Jones

Match Preview

On sunday David Moyes will take charge of his final home game as Everton manager
before taking up the reins at Manchester United.

The match, which will be his 426 top flight game as Toffees boss, brings an end to his 11 year stay on Merseyside.

Although he has failed to win a trophy during his time at the club, Moyes has certainly had Everton battling at the top end of the table and with a FA Cup runners-up place in 2009, a top four finish in 2005 as well as four European campaigns, the 50-year-old has continued to keep the side punching above their financial weight.

They head into the game in sixth place and following last weekend’s goalless draw against Liverpool, can ensure that they finish above their Merseyside rivals for a second successive season with a win.

West Ham have little left to play for and can already start to enjoy planning for another season in the top flight.

With 43 points from their 36 matches, the Hammers are eight points clear of the relegation zone and a first top ten finish since 2009 is well within their grasp.

Head-to-head

West Ham are without a win in nine league matches against Everton.

The Hammers have won only six of their 33 Premier League matches against the Toffees.

And they have won just twice at Goodison Park in that time.

No side has conceded more goals in the opening 15 minutes of games than Everton and West Ham United (both 11) this season.

This is the 126th meeting between the sides. Everton have won 62, West Ham 36 and there have been 27 draws.

Everton

Everton have drawn 15 matches this season – the most in the Premier League, but only the two Manchester clubs have lost less than their six matches.

The Toffees have kept clean sheets in four of their last five league games.

Leighton Baines is the only outfield player to play every minute (3150) of every league game this season.

Marouane Fellaini committed his 77th and 78th fouls of the season against Liverpool last weekend, which is the most in the top flight.

Leon Osman has completed more dribbles (58) than any other player in the Premier League this campaign.

Predicted line-ups
(Possible, 4-4-1-1): Howard; Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Nirallas, Osman, Gibson, Pienaar; Fellaini; Anichebe.
(Possible, 4-4-1-1): Jaaskelainen; Demel, Collins, Reid, O'Brien; Vaz Te, O'Neil, Diame, Jarvis; Nolan; Carroll
Hoping for moyes to go out with a final home win and I expect Everton to attack and win this game 3-1 :) Carroll to score one for West Ham

The short time in charge of Sunderland for Paolo Di Canio has already been a roller-coaster ride, from a dream derby win at St James' Park to conceding six at Villa Park - and he's had to fasten his seatbelt once again this week.

At half time on Monday night when his side were a goal and a man down to Stoke, he must have feared the worst. Yet the togetherness and spirit his players showed in the second half ensured his ride finished on a high.

But then, when Wigan were 2-1 up at home to Swansea 24 hours later, the stomach must have been churning again. However, I'm sure - like many of the managers still looking over their shoulders - his fist must have punched the air as Wigan missed the opportunity to really make it a bumpy journey.

He'll want a smooth ride in Sunderland's last home game but most of all will be desperate for the victory that would calm nerves and virtually assure them of survival before a trip to Tottenham on the final day.

He'll be encouraged by the character shown in the second half against Stoke and will need to see it again against Southampton - particularly as he's now without Steven Fletcher, Stephane Sessengon and Craig Gardner, who have scored 28 of Sunderland's 40 goals this season.

Swansea's win at the DW Stadium will also have brought a smile to the face of Mauricio Pochettino because a Wigan win would have increased the pressure on his team too, especially as they haven't scored in any of their last three matches. He'll set out to take something from the game at least - a draw would move them to the often magical 40-points mark. Only three teams have ever been relegated in a 38-match season with 40 or more.

Di Canio was part of one of those teams at West Ham, and he - like his opposite number - will want a quiet end to this particular journey.

Both of these teams are looking over their shoulders at present. Southampton are only a point better off than Sunderland and not yet mathematically safe but I do not see either side going down.

Saints got beaten at Tottenham last week but actually played quite well. Sunderland had to battle with 10 men against Stoke but got a draw which was a good result for them.

The Black Cats are without two of their betters players in Craig Gardner and Stephane Sessegnon through suspension but I can see this one ending up honours even too.

That keeps both sides inching nearer towards safety. There are a lot of teams like them down at the bottom end of the table who need one point or three points to ensure they stay up but, given Wigan's predicament, I don't think they will need them.

Prediction: 1-1

Match notes:

Andre Villas-Boas is clinging on to his Champions League hopes by his fingernails and nothing but a victory will suffice at the Britannia Stadium.
The spirited point at Stamford Bridge leaves Spurs still in with a shout of sneaking a place in next season's elite competition, an outcome which could be vital in their ambitions of keeping Gareth Bale.
Stoke have virtually secured safety and the big question now is whether this will be Tony Pulis's last home game in charge.

Team news:

Stoke manager Tony Pulis has a series of decisions to make ahead of the visit of Tottenham on Sunday.
Midfielder Glenn Whelan (groin), Andy Wilkinson (back) and Marc Wilson (hamstring) are all close to contention, but may not be risked from the start as they look for full fitness.
Whelan and Wilkinson were ruled out of the visit to Sunderland on Monday but are likely to be available, while Wilson was replaced at half-time as a precaution.

Meanwhile, midfielder Mousa Dembele is fit for Tottenham after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Aaron Lennon came off against Chelsea in midweek with a slight hamstring strain but is fit to play, according to manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Midfielder Sandro and defensive duo Younes Kaboul and William Gallas are still unavailable.

Possible starting 11:

Stoke (Possible, 4-4-2): Begovic, Shotton, Shawcross, Huth, Wilson; Walters, Nzonzi, Whitehead, Adam; Crouch, Jerome.

Tests: Whelan (groin), Wilkinson (back),Wilson (hamstring).

Tottenham (Possible, 4-4-1-1): Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Huddlestone, Dembele, Dempsey; Bale; Adebayor.

Out: Sandro (knee), Kaboul (thigh), Gallas (calf).

Referee: Kevin Friend. Matches: 23, Red cards 1 Yellow cards 90.

Old Trafford will be buzzing with gossip about managerial change. It's just one intriguing feature of a beguiling fixture.

Will Manchester United really go for Borussia Dortmund's Joachim Klopp when Sir Alex finally hangs up the hairdryer? Will the news of Jose Mourinho's imminent return inspire Chelsea to a first win at Old Trafford in three years?

Some of you might feel the Blues will be the hungrier team. After all, United have won the title with ease and are playing out the season whereas Chelsea desperately need the points for Champions League qualification.

But let no-one dare forget the animosity between the two managers. No Ferguson v Benitez clash could ever be anything less than fiercely fought. Fergie will want to win this desperately.

The champions should be the fresher side. It's Chelsea's 65th game of the campaign (13 matches more than United) and their 12th in 37 days. But the visitors are enjoying a better run of form.

They can point to their cup wins against the Red Devils this season, although United won at Stamford Bridge in the league. Then again, Chelsea had hurtled back into that game to level from 2-0 down, and looked the more likely winners until they had Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres sent off, before conceding the winner to Chicharito shortly after.

Robin van Persie, already United's record league scorer in a debut season, needs one more for 30 goals in all competitions. Frank Lampard needs one to join Bobby Tambling as Chelsea's all-time record scorer. It's all set up for a thriller, with more sub-plots than EastEnders.

But then, that's what this fixture is - a real Premier League soap opera with its familiar heroes and villains, and wouldn't it be just like one of the Stretford End's biggest enemies to pop up with a big goal?

Torres has been slaughtered by his critics all season. But he's still hit 21 goals in all competitions and can still transform a game in the blink of an eye as he did against Basel on Thursday. United won't want to see him starting or on the bench.

I still think United will edge it, and I hope Michael Carrick stars. My vote for him to win Footballer of the Year came to nothing. But, while others have grabbed headlines, he has been the very heartbeat of United's league season, missing just one game, and I wouldn't mind betting that the first player the manager goes to if they win tomorrow will be the unsung midfielder.

United to take it easy against Chelsea? Unthinkable. The Blues could yet miss out on the Champions League.
