PPStream Problems

Im guessing PPStream stands for Peer-To-Peer (P2P) So it might be that it pretty much hogs your connection
E.g. when i use SopCast i regularly get signed out of msn, websites load slow, My PS3 disconnects its self, etc, so i tend to close all (or most) other programs and shutdown other things connected to my internet when i watch stuff on SopCast, so could be the same with you and PPStream

I've actually tried to search for any series, prison break, being the most popular, is not even in the channel list. i only managed to find it on their website listing but then tat means i'd hv to watch via web instead of ppstream.

juz wondering if there were any news or notification regarding the english series.

Installing the chinese language pack should display it in chinese characters, or doesn't that help?

PPStream doesn't use Unicode . So what you can do is change the regional language in your computer

Control Panel--> Regional and Language Option--> Advance--> change the Language for Unicode program to chinese [PRC]

That will get rid of ????? and you can see the Chinese Characters

Same problem here..I can't find the english series anymore!! happened for maybe 2 weeks already..or more. Anybody have any idea what happened?

Hi, i can't view the chinese characters in ppstream and when i tried to change to chinese prc as taught, i couldnt change, bcos it prompted for a CD and when i click no to restart i couldnt restart not even in safe mode, then it prompted to click on last known configuration, meaning to say i cant change to chinese PRC. What should i do now??

輔助工具: Microsoft AppLocale Utility 解決非 Unicode 軟體亂碼問題

在 Applocale 內執行 ppStream 就可以看簡體。

安裝apploc後，按『開始』→『所有程式』→『Microsoft Applocale』→『Applocale』→下一步 → 『瀏覽』 → 選擇ppstream主程式 → 在選擇下一步 → 程式的語言選中文簡體，就可以解決亂碼的問題了。

如果 AppLocale 發生令其它安裝程式產生亂碼問題，請先卸載 AppLocale ，再重新安裝。AppLocale 剛安裝好的時候, 是沒有 AppLoc.tmp 這個文件的. 自己在 AppLocale 的安裝目錄內, 弄一個0字節 AppLoc.tmp 文件, 並點擊鼠標右鍵在檔案屬性裏把它設為唯讀[只讀]屬性，確定後退出重啟電腦，就可以一勞永逸地避免亂碼出現。如果不想卸載 AppLocale 再重新安裝，就用記事本把 AppLoc.tmp 打開，把內容清空然後給這個文件加上只讀屬性，重啟就可以了。

以 Unicode 為基礎的平台 (例如 Windows XP) 會模擬執行非 Unicode 應用程式所需要的語言環境，模擬的方式是在內部使用一般稱為系統地區設定的系統變數 (或是非 Unicode 應用程式的語言)，將應用程式的非 Unicode 文字資料轉換成 Unicode。非 Unicode 應用程式的語言與系統地區設定所定義的語言，應該是使用相同的指令碼或指令碼系列。如果不符合這個條件，應 用程式的使用者介面 (UI) 就會顯示成亂碼。

這種方式在使用上有一些限制：

只有系統管理員可以設定系統地區設定的值。

設定系統地區設定時必須重新啟動系統。

一次只能設定一個系統地區設定。

AppLocale (或 Application Locale) 只能暫時解決這些在以 Unicode (UTF-16) 為基礎的 Windows XP 系統中執行非 Unicode 應用程式的限制。AppLocale 會偵測舊版應用程式的語言，並且模擬對應的系統地區設定，以便在字碼頁與 Unicode 之間進行轉換。

重要注意事項：

AppLocale 是以 Windows XP 中所引用的最新應用程式相容性技術為基礎，因此只能安裝在這兩種作業系統中。

如果您經常在特定指令碼 (或一組語言) 中使用非 Unicode 應用程式，建議您一定要將系統地區設定變數設定為目標應用程式的語言，而不要使用 AppLocale。

Overview
Unicode based platforms, such as Windows XP, emulate the language environment required to run non-Unicode application*y internally converting application's non-Unicode text data to Unicode using a system-wide variable commonly called the system local (or language for non-Unicode applications). The language of the non-Unicode applications should be of the same script or family as the one defined by the system locale. Failing to meet this condition results in display of garbage characters in the UI of the application.

This approach has few usability limitations:

Only an administrator has the ability of setting the system locale value.

Setting the system locale requires a system reboot.

Only one system locale can be set at a time.

AppLocale (or Application Locale) is a temporary solution to these limitations caused by non-Unicode applications running on the Unicode (UTF-16) based Windows XP. AppLocale detects the language of the legacy application and simulates a corresponding system locale for code-page to/from Unicode conversions.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

AppLocale i*ased on the new application compatibility technology introduced in Windows XP and can only be installed on these two operating systems.

If you frequently use non-Unicode applications in a given script (or set of languages), it is strongly recommended to set your system locale variable to the language of the target application and not to use AppLocale.

My PPStream won't shut down. I don't use it very often. But if I try to close the program it continues playing in the background. There is no icon on my task bar. It doesn't matter if I close the window from the top right or "right click" and close.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a bug in ppstream, if you still need to close it get yourself a copy of unlocker - http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ or a little app called kill process - http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Process.shtml

i have a desktop and a netbook.i trying to watch a hong kong drama but it only shows in my desktop.what i mean is i typed exactly the same name in both pc,but the drama only shows in my desktop.when i searched in my netbook the drama is not showing,instead an error with internet explorer icon appears in the search list

i figured out the problem.the series im watching is a hong kong drama,and i copy the title from google search.what's strange is that when i paste the title name in ppstream and a chinese word processor they turned out to be 2 different chinese words.
