It`s a good shirt. A shirt with red and white and,.. is that black? Are we slowly morphing into Manu? Handbrake now!!

Yep, M´Villa and Jan Vertonghen and that`s about my wish-list fulfilled.Just jettison some chaff in-between.

It's blue, supposed to take inspiration from an old kit which had blue on the socks. I don't see the united connection everyone keeps saying but each to their own, hey if it makes us as succesful as them I'll take the deal!

The collar is the only thing I don't particularly like but the rest is fine with me. When we win everything and go unbeaten in all competitions and end up, on the last day of the season, playing and beating a relegation threatened Spurs to send them down it'll become everybodys favourite shirt

(Can you guess where my boy's almost always spot on prediction talents come from?)

So there's definite smoke to the M'villa fire, Will be a great signing if true (as seems likely)

I wonder what it will mean for both Ramsey and Song. I would like to see them both stay, perhaps with Ramsey going out on loan. Think Song is a great player and, as long as he's not relied upon to defend, can be a very important player. M'villa plays in that "holding midfielder" role so perhaps that would free Song up to attack (although, tbh, he hasn't exactly been bound by his defensive duties this season!) and put in those little dinks and chips he's so good at.

Seems the Vertonghen deal is dead in the water, with him coming out and commenting on Spurs it seems he'll be a lilywhite next season, although I'm sure if someone comes and offers him more money he'll go there.

'The board is asking a fair amount for a player who is only contracted for another year. I trust that Ajax and Spurs can turn water into wine and sort it out soon. I owe a lot to Ajax but I have always given my heart and soul.'
'My appreciation for the club and fans is great and it would be terrible if my farewell was marred by Ajax sticking to a great price.'
'Of course I want Ajax to gain financially but the amount Tottenham are willing to pay - perhaps with a little extra - is very reasonable.'
'Tottenham is a fantastic football club. Ajax was the perfect club for me, but Spurs will be very close in nearing that already. They buy young, eager and offensive-minded players.'
Definitely angling for a move to Spurs then, these quotes are reported differently in different places, with some qouting him saying "Tottenham are my favourite" (or similar words) Anyway, doesn't matter, always thought he was a C***

If I am totally honest I think Song is useless at defending which is what he is supposed to do, he makes all those forward runs and leaves holes in the back where he is supposed to be, yes he has some good assists and can play the sublime pass now and again but his fancy dan passes have cost us a few points this season. for instance in the last game against Norwich, he messed up big time. I don't think he is capable of maintaining his role through out the game which is supposed to be holding midfielder, and Ramsey needs to go out on loan as he can't play in the same game as Song, he has been dire in his last few games no use at all. A season long loan in a club like Bolton or one of the other lower clubs would do him good because he is not cutting it with us at the minute, I hope he comes good but I am not holding my breath. So yep if true M´Villa would be a good signing and Song can play second fiddle if he gets injured, as spell on the bench might shape his ideas up a bit.

M`Villa would be the perfect signing, as it would have been last summer. From what I`ve seen he just has that nous about him to read the game and make a good pass. A bit Scholes-esque? A bit Arteta-ish? I think Song is much along those lines too, but he over-elaborates and tends to be more attack-minded. He get`s distracted from his duties of protecting the back four without Arteta to cover his butt. Sadly, I reckon Ramsey won`t cut the mustard now and must make space for proven quality. He`s had time to make an impact since his return, but to be honest he`s off the pace and doesn`t contribute much of real quality. But first things first. Let`s get this West Brom game in the bag. Read Juventus have joined the vultures circling for RvP. CL football and revenue will decide quite a lot of what happens to our belovèd club this summer so let`s not be having defenders bombing up front should we find ourselves leading 3-2 with 8 mins left on the clock, please.

Sunday is like a cup-final, and that’s exactly what it is. There’s no trophy to pick up at the end, but the prize is invaluable. Finish third and our summer is as easy as it gets. We know we have Champions League football with which to convince existing players to sign new deals and to attract new players. We know how our pre-season will play out, we know what finances we’ll have available to us.

WE must sort out the leaky defence that let us down badly against Norwich. Players are NOT doing what they supposed to do like Alex Song, he might not enjoy sitting back when Vermaelen wanders forward but it’s his job to do so. If he’s got the hump with it (and it’s not the first time this season he’s seemed reluctant to do the dirty work when Tommy goes bombing on), take it up with the manager or the Belgian after the game but if you don’t do what’s necessary we get caught out – and we were for their second goal.

Just do what you are supposed to do FFS and lets just win this last game please.

We need a playmaker, that`s true. Our style demands it. Whether Song could change his stripes, I doubt it. He`s an enforcer type, breaking up attacks and getting things underway again with the SIMPLE! pass. Did I say simple? Those delicate chips over the defence to RvP`s left foot are fantastic. They have won us games. His sliderule passes into space have sometimes been brilliant, ( Henry v Leeds ). Those backheels and Hollywood passes and those, er, blond moments have all cost us points. If played as such, I`d almost equate him to the bigger of the Toures. Not quite, but almost. They however have dedicated options in midfield whereas we have, .. not naming names. We need Arteta to stay fit for next season and Wilshere all guns firing. Simply positions double covered and no more bad luck with injuries. Oh, and RvP to scribble on a bit of paper. My favourite quote of the day from Arseblog; "Juventus yesterday declared their interest in Robin van Persie, calling him a ‘great player’ but it’s all a bit redundant, isn’t it? We know they, and every other club in the world, would fancy a bit of left-footed Dutch magic in their team next season. We can only hope that they end up with Royston Drenthe – that’ll teach them for stealing Liam Brady 32 years ago."

So, chesney has an injury, his kicks were bad as was his general keeping against Norwich so perhaps that explains why (although he has never been the greatest distributer of the ball) It leaves us with the choice of playing him and hope he's better against WBA or horrifyingly calling on Fabianski or Almunia (if they're even in the squad list, I'm not sure but one of them must be at least)

I think I'd rather they played injured Ches. In fact, I think I'd rather they play a no-handed midget who has never even heard the word football but there ya go! Perhaps it will be Almunias or Fabianskis chance to shine on Sunday (though, given the chance to shine they'd both probably fumble it and turn it into an own goal!)

Oh, and this is a bit stingy, to say the least!

Dann doesn't want it and it was Henry's last at the Emirates, was on target before the deflection, what's the point in taking it away from him?

I really farking love the way both Robin, his wife and his mother speak about Arsenal here. Shows they have a genuine affection for the club, whether he stays or goes (and I'm still sure he will stay, at least for one more year) is gonna be purely for footballing reasons and not for the money.

The word legend is thrown around a lot these days and, while I don't think it applies to Robin quite yet, he's well on his way! When he lifts the quadruple for us next year he will deserve that title

Apparently, RVP will sit down with the club next week to thrash out his future. RVP’s next contract will be his last and most important as the player is now at his peak. He’s nearly 29 and has won, or competed for, very little whilst at the club. I wouldn't blame him for leaving, I hope he doesn't but can you blame him what is likely to change next season??

Wenger can try to polish this dog turd of a season in whichever way he chooses, but the facts are inescapable, the squad is not getting better, neither are the performances, the defending is getting worse and the club is not heading in the right direction. Wenger has not shown he has learned anything whatsoever from past mistakes, is getting old, getting stale, getting embarrassing and remains stubbornly entrenched in his own little fantasy world. I will be very suppressed if he changes his ways I don't think Steve Bold will influence him in changing either, so Robin I don't blame you if you want to go to win a few trophies cos I don't think you will be wining them with us unless Wenger splashes out and brings in some class and gets rid of a LOT of deadwood.

    Finally a realist!!!
I have gotten all kinds of responses from the goons tonight and the simple fact is, our form has been affected by the media and Harry himself throughout the season.
We have had far more issues within the management and squad this season than you but only finished a point behind, I can't associate with your issues on you own side Tony but I can say we will be breathing down your necks or even better next season.
You are right to question your own, who knows where you will be if you come out the same next season and we don't have the complications of this year.

I think it just illustrates the point that Wenger's worst team has just finished above Spurs' best team. Digs aside, surely you can't deny Wengers achievement in managing us back onto the PL podium?

We all have our criticisms of Wenger but the fact is he has done something that only one other PL manager can boast and that is consistently finished in the CL places year after year after year after year. The fact that he has done that on a tighter budget than most of the rest is even more impressive. The target for next year is, of course challenging for trophies but at the moment we'll take the auto qualification for the CL and not worrying about Chelseas result.

Oh, and by the way...Mind the gap
