Tony though, you've got to remember that we didn't lose our captain/best player last yea...oh.
Well, OK, we did, but we also had very good transfer windows otherwise where we signed some good quality replacemen...oh.
Ok then, we didn't sign good quality replacements but we did sign players who, after settling in, were vital in our 3rd place...oh.
Fine then, but it's not as if Spurs had there best team in the last 50 year...oh.

Actually, perhaps things aren't so bleak Enjoy your crowing Spurs, we'll see.

I am looking forward to the new season without RvP now, I would love us to end up with a few trophies and Robin to get zippo but who knows we were a 1 man team last season but without him the other should do the job I hope

More than likely true Tony but I'm just chuffed to see you lot having a little sufferance, we have had enough crap to deal with in the last few months, no mind years.
Besides, he is just another footballer. We had the same with Berbatoss and now ratboy, just like you did with Na$ri and fibreglass. Both sides will move on as the clubs are far bigger than any one person. It will be another closely fought season no doubt.

I don't know what kind of person this man is to Arsenal fans but it sounds like he is thinking just like you guys on here do, stating the obvious facts that need to be looked at but by the sounds of it, probably won't be affordable.

His open letter today was entirely for his benefit and released at a time when the club is already reeling from last nights news, He's trying to turn the fans against the board (even more so) in an attempt to destabilise them so he can move in. Make no mistake, if some fans were still calling vociferously for Wengers head this letter would have also included criticism of him.

That's not to say I don't want our club to have anything to do with him (truth be told I don't but he would be a useful ally) the fact is he is a massive shareholder (I believe he owns just under 30%) and the boards refusal to even speak with him is wrong imo. But neither is he the saviour he's trying to paint himself as. Just as Van Persies release was a load of (misjudged) PR bullshit designed to engineer a move , this too is bollocks designed to cause maximum disruption to the board (and by extension the club.)

Cheers for the reply mossy, I weren't sure as to who is who at your place these days, I'm more interested in Spurs trying to remove your stubbornness of finishing stronger than us, yet again...
Seems there is far more going on behind the scenes then, it will be a very interesting summer for both sides of North London, for very different reasons.

That was probably the most informed and balanced thing I have read all day. Red and White should have a big say and are frustratedly simply voicing truths that Arsenal fans have been going on about since Citeh got rich. Trouble is, we still can`t compete without deepening our debts, and that is going to be the story for a couple of years yet. It`s business at Arsenal and not a whimsical toy that`ll be divided, indebted and creamed in the Cayman Islands. Nor be a plaything for fools who have more money than sense. Let`s at least, Robin, be glad of that. Vive le Arse!

Loyalty has become a lost word in the football world Tony, it will be a very rare thing to see a player do a 10-15 year stint at any one club now or in the future, in fact. You probably did well to get 8 seasons out of Robin, no surprise to see him have his best season for you before heading for the door and bagging as much as he can get (presuming he leaves).

its gonna be a VERY weak front line unless Gervinho or Walcott decides to start scoring, Arsenal might as well go back to a 442 triangle...

cheap, cheap, cheap. Which is so sad as Wenger has shown such a great eye for young talent if only enough of the were kept for the odd trophy say.....once very 5 years. Is that asking too much.

Theo Walcott is set to leave Arsenal after the news that captain Robin van Persie won’t be extending his current deal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Dutchman confirmed his intention to see out his contract, which is set to expire in 12 months time.

That has seen interest in the 28-year-old increase, with the likes of Manchester City and Juventus both linked with van Persie.

Walcott is also entering the final year of his contract and is prepared to depart the Gunners, should they sell the talismanic front-man.

The 23-year-old England international is believed to be devastated by the news van Persie won’t be extending his Arsenal deal.

WEll if thats the case off you go Walnut, I wouldn't shed any tears if he left, he is trying to get £100,000 per week fook he is not worth £25,000 PW

    Speculation about Walchart too.

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...-doubt?cc=5739

Theo Walcott could be set to follow Robin van Persie out of Arsenal with media speculation suggesting that he is unhappy with his captain's desire to leave.

Walcott, 23, is in the same position as Van Persie - with a contract expiring next year - and is thought to be considering his options as the likes of Chelsea, Juventus and PSG have shown interest in the winger.

The England international has had a mixed few years at the Emirates as he has been the subject of jeering from the Gunners' fans for some below-par performances. However, he has also shown his obvious potential, with the 5-2 win over Tottenham last season (where he was almost hauled off at half-time, before scoring two goals late on) indicative of his overall form.

"You can't play well all season and I was struggling, I don't know why," Walcott said in an interview with the Evening Standard after that game. "Maybe I took my eye off the game. I am always going to be judged on stats and it has definitely picked up since Spurs."

The recent high-profile arrivals of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud and also the rise of young Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have led to speculation over whether Arsenal might choose to cash in on Walcott this summer, rather than lose him on a free next year.

Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic and Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski are being talked about as possible replacements for Van Persie while Japan winger Ryo Miyaichi could be ready to step up if Walcott also decides to jump ship.
