In Costa Rica with a less than par connection, getting around .83 mbps. Trying to view some playoff hockey and there was a Sopcast stream up that was listed as 685kbps. But when opened it would only buffer to 25-30% at most and I was unable to view it. Any suggestions on how to squeeze the absolute max out of my connection? Thanks and thanks again to all the streamers and admins
It might just be too high for your internet speed, have you tried a lower bitrate stream? Maybe a 300k? Does that work better?
Ya the lower bitrate streams work perfectly, there just aren't any Sopcast or ST streams using a low bitrate. And with the whole JTV thing, I'm just looking for any option that would allow me to see the Sabres in the playoffs. Thanks for the response though, if nothing shows up here I'll sift through Ustream and Freedocast and post my findings for those that are sharing the same dilema. GO SABRES!!!!!!!!
True, maybe the higher bitrate works better this night for the NHL, just try it. You can always use other streams of course, but you never know if it might be all fine today![]()

YES works 4 me.
cctv and shanghai sports are gone on sopcast???
its just the site, must be a problem listing them or server down, check here to see - http://www.sopcast.com/chlist.xml
But the actual streams are still working if you know their sop:// address.![]()

@pusi: already told you many times, that channels come and go. The specific channel you're talking about only worked once, after that it had tunisian channels.
Especially pay channels only show up for specific sport events, its useless to request those as 24/7 links. Just keep checking our schedules and sometimes you see some listed which show Sky
Seems like the sop tracker had some issues but fine again here right now!

running fine here atleast the channel i clicked![]()
i used to have no problem with my sopcast, but in the last year somthings changed...
when i try and stream a live match on say channel yes or espn etc, sopcast buffers, up to around 75-85, everything is fine for about 30 seconds, then my buffer starts to drop and drop all the way to 3, then stops then starts to buffer again back up to 75-85 and keeps repeating, cant figure out whats going on, help!!!!
Sopcast is currently not working for me. I can't connect to my own channel and also not to other channels. Also their website is offline. Do more people have this problem?
From the info I received their host got a power outtage, but should be back working sooner/later...
Edit: works here again with some channels![]()
I keep getting the message "Cannot access service" and I have read the following: -
Get "Can not retrieve data" error message after buffering?
A: In this case, you get peers list successfully and exchange stream data with them, but they all have no right data to feed you, your usually have a lower buffer, if this condition lasts for so much time, you will get the error message and the channel will stop buffering.
This problem will occurred in some condition as below:
* You have bad connections to all peers.
* All peers have no right data because of time synchronization.
* The SopServer has quit abnormally.
* Too lower QC (quality of client network).
How can I "access the service" in future. The diagnostic is OK and I have opened the ports in my router and I allow Sopcast to pass unimpeded through my firewall. Is there anything else I can do? I used to be able to access Sopcast no problem and all the other p2p programmes but now I cannot receive any and I have to rely on Veetle for my footy! I use Firefox and I am operating Windows XP version 2. I should be grateful for any help whatsoever and, if possible, in words of one syllable as I am not that technically minded.
Thanks

Not sure I'm qualified to answer, but when this happens to me I assume it's a problem with the central server - especially when I get the same message for the majority (or all) of the live channels I try. I usually just swear quietly to myself and keep trying until my 'luck' changes. Whatever it is, it seems to be happening more frequently of late. I'm guessing you've had sopcast running OK at some time or other?
Cheers

You also get it when you select a channel from the channellist itself? So in the sopcast player?![]()
