    Default Cannot Access Sopcast Service

Yeah, my SopCast won't load at all.
Got message: "Cannot Access Sopcast Service"
I have tried tons of times with different channels. (have tried for a month alrdy)

    * Possible issue: Peerguardian blocking it, read below for more!

It is not my first time using SopCast.
Though last time I used was last year, in different computer, it worked.
    I'm running on Windows Vista.

Any help and advice would be very appreciated.
    Thanks!

Antivirus or firewall maybe blocking it? Try reading other topics...

    Nope, it is not.
For example, TVU is working fine.
    Thanks for the reply.

    Lightbulb

If all else fails and you really need to view SopCast streams use SopFilter which opens sop URL's (sop://) in WMP without having SopCast installed.

    Download SopFilter: http://download.sopcast.cn/download/SopFilter.zip
Say NO to Ads on streams & Stop the Virus/Malware Alerts.

If ever a password is needed in any of my or other users uploads try myp2p, Myp2p or wiziwig.

I'm having the same thing. Been happening for a while now. Tried re-installing and still won't work. Can't find any other answers either.

Damn, don't know why I didn't think of this before. I just had to disable my PeerBlock program. Works fine now.

Ahhh! This has been bugging me for ages, couldn't get it working - just disabled PeerBlock and it's fine!

Thank you so much for the heads up, glad I read this thread And gutted I missed the Chelsea game earlier 'cos of it lol

Is there anyway to add it to the PeerBlock exceptions so I don't have to disable it?

    Thanks!

I have been getting this error for a while, no idea why, sopcast worked fine before and I havn't changed any settings since then, crazy

It takes ages to login, like over a minute then it says 'Cannot access sopcast service' gah... Many people getting the same error, I don't have that PeerBlock thing which people below are talking about, any suggestions?

Was wondering what was causing the 'Cannot access SopCast service' errors! Turns out it was Peer Guardian!!!!

Why has the SopCast server been added to the block list? Anyway can we sticky this issue for now or something? There's been a bunch of us trying to figure it out over the last couple of weeks.

You could get rid of Peer Guardian as its useless, chocolate firegaurd comes to mind.

    woooooooooooooo I found the problem

It was the firewall on my anti-virus software, it never used to block it, but its on auto-update and an update must of blocked it !

If anyone else has Virgin PC Guard (Virgin Media users) disable the firewall and use a firewall on something else or not at all

There was someone with the same issue I think on virgin as he posted his speed on virgin 50mb, hopefully u read this.

I have had this problem for some weeks now and I don't believe the solution has been mentioned here because i've tried with, and without, PG2.

Also, other channels in the channel list - news entertainment, films - work fine, so i don't see how it could be a firewall-type problem. It's just the links for the football games and the sports channels that don't work.

    Any help or suggestions appreciated.

(i am with virgin, but i don't use PC Guard.)

Confirmed here, latest peerguardian update blocks the sopcast server, so disable peerguardian when using sopcast.

    Default sopcast logging in

I get a message that Sopcast is Logging in but it never gets there.

I too have used it before with very few problems, for me it's been one of the best...until now that is, appreciate some help.

ps dead man walking, I tried but couldn't download the sop filter

No Peerguardian/ AVG or other anit virus software and firewalls that could block it?
