Are you sure about Sopcast continuing to run even if the proxy goes down? I have tested it with a VPN, and find that Sopcast will go down if your VPN goes down. I have been testing various ways to hide your IP in the event of the bill criminalising stremaing passing, and I found that when broadcasting with Sopcast, that my stream will go down, if I disconnect from the VPN. I was testing to see which goes down when the VPN goes down, so that the broadcaster does not have the FBI knocking at thier door. And Sopcast is the only one that passes this test.

So from my experiments, Sopcast will go down if the VPN goes down.

Default FIX! Cannot Login & Cannot Connect To Sopcast Server *error*

I having same problem just now but now my channel is on air again. What i did is completely uninstalled Sopcast player and plugin and any related tools downloaded on Sopcast website. Then i reboot the system. After system fresh start, i installed Sopcast and all plugins come with it. Done with Sopcast installation i closed the installation without starting Sopcast yet. Then i run Sopcast with admin privilege(right click on Sopcast). WALAA!! my channel connected nicely just like before Windows upgrade crap.

After a few minutes Windows popup security box (firewall) for me to choose either run Sopcast within home network or public network or both. Before i got error above i have check. whether Sopcast is excluded by Firewall or not, it was. I thinks this issue happened because i don't give permission to Sopcast to set the rules with admins privilege. Yes, Sopcast can do it without admin power but i don't think it is same.

I don't know this issue comes from Sopcast or Windows, but i do know Windows just installed Security update for Microsoft Net 4. At first, i cannot launch my broadcast with error - "can not connect to Sopcast server". Then its get worse which is unable for me to sign in to Sopcast Player. I'm using Window 7 Home Edition 64bit. Well, now everything is all right. Let me use it first, if anything problem i will tell you guys.

During the euro's channels got blocked/removed, so that could have been a problem. Can you try sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/132680 which should be an average quality 24/7 channel, to see if that works now for you?

Okay glad to hear it works, might be some channels which are offline or that crashed show you the message. So let us know when it happens again.

Thought I would post a quick reply to help people out (if it helps at all!). I was having the same problem with the 'cannot access sopcast service' occuring as soon as Sopcast had tried to connect for a few seconds. I had no firewall or anti-virus problems as far as I knew, and I had not changed any settings recently on either Sopcast or my computer. Simply put, Sopcast had been working fine for a year, and then this problem showed up.

My solution was actually really simple. I found that the error was only occuring for sports channels, not the 24/7 live channels. I fixed the problem by LOGGING IN WITH AN ACTUAL ACCOUNT, rather than signing in anonymously. Seems ridiculously simple I know, but I tried it on two computers which were both having the same problem and it worked on both. So if you're confused, before trying to reconfigure your whole computer, just try registering an actual account (use a throwaway email and don't give your real name though) with Sopcast and then log in with that email address. Don't log in as an anonymous user. Worked for me straight away.

EDIT: Obviously this solution is extremely basic, and probably won't work for everyone. It worked for me, so I thought I'd post the above in order to hopefully help a few people at least. It was incredibly frustrating for me and I'm glad I've solved it before the premier league season starts!

And it happens on all channels at any time? Also after trying to connect several times? Maybe your ISP blocks connections to it?

Okay that's indeed strange. I think you can change the server port when you start sopcasr and then go to options -> mysop -> change the port. Not sure if that helps. Does your Internet provider block specific traffic or make your connection slower at peak hours?

Here is something strange I noticed. I was also having cannot access sopcast service error and then I have a website that lists many of the channels I watch. Using Sopcast directly with all my favorites saved I get the error. When I use the website that has the channels listed and I click on the channel link from a web page the channels then work using this method. Very strange indeed.

I haven't been able to watch any channels on it for quite a while now. Digi Sport, YES, and that arabic channel with HD. Buffers and never moves forward. Utorrent works and watching it on regular streaming websites is fine. CHecked my antispyware and Avast and nothing indicates it's blocking it.

Difficult problems to solve, but most likely something blocks it, either isp, firewall, av, or there's a bad connection to the sopcast server to connect to any channels. Probably http://www.sopcast.com/docs/faq.html doesn't help much either...

Indeed strange, what I do notice right now is that for some streams it takes a few times to connect/press play to get it working on sopcast. Might also be too busy on their with some connection issues
