Default Winter Transfers - All about Winter Transfers

Official: Valencia Sign Alejandro 'Chori' Dominguez From Rubin Kazan!

Valencia have signed Alejandro Dominguez from Rubin Kazan on a free transfer.

The move for 'Chori' was officially announced on Monday evening after the Argentine forward passed a medical test at the Mestalla.

While Los Che has not disclosed the terms of the deal, it is rumoured that Chori's three-year contract is worth €1.5m per season.

The 28-year-old arrived at Valencia's airport on Sunday evening, telling reporters that he was "very happy" to be en route to join the club, who currently sit third in the Primera Division.

Following his medical the ex-Zenit man became Valencia's first winter signing. He will be presented by the club at 13:00 local time on Tuesday.

Benfica Sign Brazilian Youngster Alan Kardec !

Several reports from Portugal claim that Liga Sagres powerhouse Benfica have completed the transfer of Brazilian forward Alan Kardec from Vasco da Gama for a fee of €4.4 million.

The 20-year-old striker impressed at the recent Under-20 World Cup and had attracted the interest of several European sides. Aside from Benfica, Juventus and Inter were also rumoured to be keen on signing Kardec.

"I am very happy to know the interest of a club like Benfica, Portugal's largest and one of the largest in the world. For any Brazilian player, playing in Europe and in this case, Benfica, if all goes well, it's a dream," the forward was quoted as saying by A Bola.

"I’m not very mobile and players like that are more appreciated in Brazil. However, I think I have the quality to do well in the style of football played in Europe. I just ask for an opportunity to show my value, and, God-willing, it is happening right now."

Benfica have yet to confirm the transfer, but an official statement is expected later this week.

Official: Roberto Carlos Signs For Corinthians !

Corinthians have officially announced the signing of former Fenerbahce full-back Roberto Carlos.

The move to the Sao Paulo side follows weeks of reports that the 36-year-old was to return to his country at the beginning of 2010.

These claims came to fruition today as Corinthians announced that Roberto Carlos will be presented on January 4th.

Corinthians also state that the former Brazilian international, who won 125 caps in the left-back position, will be brought on as an 89th-minute substitute by Fenerbahce on December 23rd against Altay for his final appearance.

According to the Spanish press, Carlos stated this week that, although he is eager to join Corinthians, he would also relish a return to Real Madrid.

LA Galaxy Star Landon Donovan Confirms Switch To Everton !!

LA Galaxy’s Landon Donovan has confirmed he will be joining Premier League side Everton on loan in January.

The United States international has agreed to spend ten weeks with the Merseyside club before rejoining the Galaxy in mid-march.

Galaxy general manager and coach, Bruce Arena believes the decision to spend time at Goodison Park is a good one.

"We think that will be a great opportunity for Landon," he said, as quoted by latimes.com.

Donovan, who will join fellow countryman Tim Howard at Everton, also announced he has agreed a new four-year extension to his current contract with the Galaxy.

"There's a lot of factors that go into a decision like this," said Donovan.

"And I did a lot of thinking about it. Obviously there's a lot of security in where I'm going to be. But I think most of all, this team in the last year has taken a dramatic turn. And I like being here. I like being part of the organization. And I want to be part of the future.”

Official: Hertha Berlin Sign Bayer Leverkusen Forward Theofanis Gekas !!

Beleaguered Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin have completed the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen attacker Theofanis Gekas on a six-month loan deal. The 29-year-old forward will join his new team-mates on January 1, 2010.

Gekas was surplus to requirements at Bayer Leverkusen and recently expressed his desire to move on in order not to endanger his spot in Greece's World Cup squad.

Hertha are battling against relegation this term and head coach Friedhelm Funkel was desperate to add an extra attacker to his squad in the upcoming transfer window.

"Theofanis is a real goalscorer. He doesn't need a lot of chances to find the net. Additionally, he's very fast and that suits our style of play perfectly," said Funkel on the official Hertha website.
