Question ST streamers poll--What O.S./platform are you streaming from?

i'm wondering what OS's (and to a lesser extent hardware) my fellow streamers are running on their ST boxes? i'm especially interested in finding out how many, if any, run linux, win 2k, macOS, etc.
you can post Version #'s/service pack level. if running linux, what distro, (and are you using wine?)

also, what do you use to capture video?--tv card, usb, screencap, etc...

    TIA

EDIT: for the record, i'm using win XP SP0, with an ati rage fury pro capture card for video only (no tuner, it has composite video-in) and SoundBlaster model CT4810 for audio.

EDIT2: dmw has informed me that linux and mac os are right out!...but i'm still curious as to which version(s) of M$ windoze people are using for ST streaming

Ive not seen one person get StreamTorrent working under Linux or macOS with Wine, Crossover etc... but it is possible with visualization.

    A mix-n-match of XP SP2 & SP3. 2 via screen cap & 1 via a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-950Q USB cap card.

Even if your only using it for streaming its best to update to SP3 for stability and various improvements made to the OS is the years between.

Which no longer qualifies as using the host OS

A question, Is NET Framework and Service pack the same?
Never had a Service pack listed in my "add or remove programs" but I did installed the framework part in order to
be able to do a Veetle broadcast. Before that none of the packs were installed on my pc's

No. A service pack is a basically all the updates and sometimes a few new features rolled into one download. the .NET framework is what some programs ares created with.

Thank you for the answer sir

But questions does remain according to previous Mod post.. like why it's important to have the sp2 or sp3.

My tunercard, while install it, always ask me to upgrade to sp2, but for the last four years I haven't.
No issues so far, as I'm sure you know by now

A Question then would be, is it really important? If you ask me the answer is no, and ofcause
that's why I in the end did reply to this thread.
Servicepack has nothing to do with the output, if you are a broadcaster.

Please someone, if you can, tell me otherwise!

Again thank you Advise, always glad for an answer.

I have noticed , and You are welcome.

There are times when some manufactures will set minimum requirements based on what they have tested their product on, other times there may be certain required files only found in that specific SP or greater.

it WOULD be best! however, when i go to the winupdate page, it tells me that my "validation key" is stolen and, therefore, they will not give me ANY updates--though they do offer to sell me a new license for $100.
if the choice is between having Service Pack 0 (i.e., no SP's at all) and paying for a OS that i don't need (or even want, for that matter), i'll stick with the bootleg version of SP0. keep in mind this is my first, and hopefully only, install of xp...i'm only using it because ST doesn't seem to work (streaming-wise) with win2k pro-SP4.

an update on my ST hardware: i'm now streaming up to 4 ST channels simultaneously from one box--a 430 MHz pentiumII-level Celeron, with 512 MB ram and 2.5 GB hard drive. (the only software installed is win xp (sp0,) zonealarm 7, antivir 9, and ST. i've stripped out as much from xp as i can, and still only have about 84 MB of free space on the drive!) i do the encoding on my two "new" pc's: a 1.8 GHz AMD and a 1.7 GHZ intel celeron.
