    Default Net State: Not Connected

    Hi everyone

I'm starting to get frustrated here. I never had any problems with ST until a month ago. Whenever I open a ST link it just says: Still connecting, but channel seems to be offline. However, I know it's no offline. Furthermore, there seems to be no connection. There is a red cross on the icon in the task bar and it say Net State: Not Connected.

ST is already added as an exception in Windows Firewall.
I haven't been able to find any solution for this. Can anyone help?

    I'm running Vista btw.

    Cheers
    Jesper

Have you added any new software in the last month like a Antivirus program...?

No. I've been running SUPERantispyware and McAfee the whole time.

Check that McAfee is not blocking it as that is one of the worst for blocking P2P software it may have updated its self.

I can't find any exception list or anything in VirusScan Enterprise 8.7, so I don't know how to find out if McAfee is the problem. Can't disable McAfee either

I found it and added ST to the exception list, disabled OAS and detection of unwanted programs, but still get the red cross on the icon!

Make sure your Windows firewall is turned off. Security Center should tell you that McAfee is working & up to date or similar to that.

also, be sure you have "internet information service" (IIS) installed...i recently discovered, after trying to trim down my WinXP, that when i removed IIS, streamtorrent would no longer connect (red X on the ST icon.)

go to: Control panel->Add/Remove Programs->Add/Remove Windows components, and be sure that IIS is checked. if it is already checked, then i would go ahead and finish the wizard--don't "cancel"--and windows will re-install it. see if this helps.

EDIT: also, ice is correct: if you're already running McAfee firewall, windows firewall should be turned off. and i would venture that your anti-virus/anti-spyware program should have nothing to do with the prob... (connection probs are usually due to firewalls and/or networking components.)

When I try to activate the IIS all I get is a popup that says: Please wait while functions are configurated. this might take several minutes. (translated from Danish)
I've been waiting hours for the configuration to end, but seems to be stuck. I've tried several times now

    Default Net state not connected

Hi all, I'm having the same problem. Tried disabling AVGs firewall, deleting media player's WMSDKNS.xml file, reloaded the regsvr32 WMNETMGR.dll, reloaded the IIS (it did take awhile), made sure streamtorrent was in AVG's approved file list, reloaded streamtorrent, updated video codecs for WMP, and still no luck . Anyone have any other suggestions? I really appreciate any help

I closed my internet browser and it seemed to help...may have just been a coincidence. Did not fix my problem though, still having the same issue you are.

ok, i retract the majority of my last post i have several different boxes running st, and when i checked a different one, i found that i indeed have REMOVED i.i.s and st still works fine on that one. i've installed ST many times, on many different machines, and only once did i have the "net state: not connected" message. when i re-installed i.i.s. it started working. so i'm afraid that after all that, i haven't been much help. (note both systems i refer to in the above comparison are running winXP.)

How are you connected to the internet? Direct to modem or via router on a home network? Could be a port issue if the latter.

    Hi all
I still have the same problem. I might add that I'm using a mobile broadband connection and I moved recently. Could this be the reason? Anyone?

I don't think your type of internet connection should matter. Still seems to be some sort of internal port or firewall issue. Keep in mind, when you disable a firewall, sometimes windows will automatically turn on it's firewall. Then when you re-enable, you can end up with 2 firewalls running. so make sure your security center is reporting that only one firewall is running.

I checked the security center and it only reports one firewall running. I just checked my statistics and somehow my IP address doesn't show:

i am having almost the identical problem on my computer. my net state always shows as not connected, and any time i click on a streamtorrent link it gives me the "Still connecting but channel seems to be offline" message. i have waited for up to a half hour for the stream to start working but it never does. after reading through these forums i have tried opening ports, disabling windows firewall, disabling peerguardian, disabling mcafee, uninstalling, reinstalling, using ccleaner to clean my registry, restarting, unplugging/replugging my cable modem and router, trying to stream in vlc, etc. and nothing has worked. i get the same error every single time.

i really have no idea what else to do. the thing is streamtorrent used to work for me about a year ago, but it hasn't worked this entire nfl season.

i have vista and i use firefox. my internet connection is through comcast cable modem which is hooked up to a linksys router which is hooked up to an apple airport wireless router.
