    Default Sopcast for Linux

    From the official Sopcast Forum:

You can download the Linux client sp-sc now. We are busy working on the system failure, so the release of Linux verion is late, sorry.

    http://download.sopcast.org/download/sp-sc.tgz
Please read the Readme file in this package, about the usage and library dependency.

If you need the stdc++5 library, download it here:
    http://download.sopcast.org/download/libstdcpp5.tgz
Note: No need to download the libstdcpp5.tgz if you can run sp-sc.

Some friends are working on the GUI now, so wait for some other days for a full GUI version.

    Thanks and enjoy it.
So have fun, updates will follow here if needed :D

    Hi guys.

Are there any plans to create a GUI version that can be used on Debian based machines? I am running Ubuntu and it doesn't support.rpm files. Also I have no idea how to run anything through the command line so can't use it that way :(

There is a linux streamer client. Drop me an email using the forum emailer and I can possibly send it to you.

    Installation sp-sc:
    # sudo cp sp-sc /usr/bin/sp-sc

Note that there are some versions named "sp-sc-auth" - they MUST be renamed to sp-sc!
    # sudo cp sp-sc-auth /usr/bin/sp-sc

Download qsopcast sources for the gui:
    http://code.google.com/p/qsopcast/downloads/list

Eventuelly you need to install this packages also, before installing qsopcast :
    qt3
    alsa-devel

Now go to the directory with the qsopcast-sources, then
    #qmake
    # make

et voila: there's a qsopcast-binary in your folder

    Start it with
    # ./qsopcast

or move it to some common location like
    #mv qsopcast /usr/sbin/qsopcast

    and enjoy the games.

One should point out, that the Linux binaries for sopcast are 32-bit, Intel/AMD compatible. They won't run on anything else but 32-bit Linux distributions for the x86 platform. The source has to be (cross)compiled for other Linux platforms like ppc/ppc64, sparc, etc. I really wonder why this has not been done already. Setting a cross compiler up is not a bit deal by any means. Or just providing a tarball with the sources would help a lot. There is always somebody out there with weird hardware running Linux.

You were in the directory where sp-sc is located? If yes, quote the filename: "sp-sc".

Sorry didn't mean back quotes. I meant:
    sudo cp "sp-sc" /usr/bin/sp-sc

Or just login as root and do the copying:
    sudo su -
    cp /WHEREEVERITIS/sp-sc /usr/bin/

You can omit the target filename if you want it to be the same.
