Forgive me but that seems to give me a program called Ilivid another media player - I cant see any RTMP folder - my apologies but this really is all new to me.

Just played it through.
Clicked on the link above. Used Direct download from MultiUpload. You can also use one of the others listed (MegaUpload, UploadKing....).
Downloaded it. Extracted it. One folder with 3 files in it (EIRE_TV-bat, flv.exe, rtmpdump.exe).

You should only download a zip file named: RTMP Streaming Ireland
Could be that you didnt download the correct file?!

1st great lesson my friend, never distrust Dead Man Walking. By far the most helpful person on here, remote access or not.
I understand your nerves but he is a top bloke with all sorts of knowledge and I'm pretty sure you will end up happy. I was in a similar situation and I was never more thankful to the man.

Yes I downloaded the incorrect however having recorrected myself I still cant play it this is the error I now get.

I dont believe I have been in any way disingenuous and am dissappointed that I am still not in the position to show my elderley parents RTE when they come up tomorrow for dinner. I do not doubt the integrity of the members whom have responded to my queries and I also apologise for not being quite as sharp with the above matters as others but it is not my field. I am more than happy with the sports feeds and would agin like to add my thanks but could somebody please talk a simpleton such as I through the problem I have encountered and how I may overcome such.

Sure DMW had a reason for leaving, but perhaps it would have been easier to follow his instructions.

Think maybe the problem is what you have described doesn't quite add up, so to help someone like DMW needs to see what you've done so he can spot the problem. Probably best not to trust anyone else that might offer though, but if you are around in the morning fair chance DMW will be too.

If you are uncomfortable posting things like your password in the public forum you could always use the 'report post' function on DMW's post asking you for it, then it's only visible to the mods and Admin and in any event would be deleted once it was picked up. If you are ok with that then best wait until DMW is back so he's ready. (assuming he has time to help you tomorrow, he's often busy because he helps everyone!)

I did follow his instructions both here and on the vid he had kndly posted hence my query earlier yesterday when I came unstuck. I am sure DMW is as genuine as everyone says but I would prefer if he would accept my email request to pass on required details.

Try this...

1. Take a copy of rtmpdump.exe and place it in C:\WINDOWS

2. Now go to Start and launch Run, In Run type CMD

3. In the Command Window copy and past this and hit Enter....

rtmpdump -v -r "rtmpte://fmsod.rte.ie/live/rte2" -W "http://www.rte.ie/player/assets/player_403.swf" | "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" -

4. Wait and it should Play in VLC Media Player

Note: This is for RTE 2 just change rte2 to rte1 for RTE 1
