Default Sorry - but need help with Vista sound mixer

My 100 year old p.c. with XP crashed tonight and I need to record my podcast, to meet my deadline...
Using the wife's laptop with Vista - WFT is the Vista sound mixer crap all about FFS???? Can't mix line in and microphone and CD input? No way to mix WAV and other inputs?
Checked google and EVERYONE using Vista is just as critical of that crap sound mixer. Can't find a fix to mix!

If anyone in the Wiziwig world has a way to import the good old XP sound mixer into Vista that works, PLEASE let me know ASAP??? Thanks!

Not sure if this is the same issue for streamers who were not getting audio on their streams due to a missing "stereo mix" option on vista & some w7. But, since you've no replies yet, thought you could check it out.

Had this one in mind too, but looks like the site in that post has died or changed: http://forum.wiziwig.eu/threads/3671...92#post1255892 Still a bit of a summary in that post that may be useful.
