Default Urgent X-box advice needed please.

Someone in the USA wants to send X-Box FIFA 12 to my son for Xmas. I know there are regional probs sometimes, as USA bought DVD's won't play in Europe - will the USA version of X-box FIFA 2012 work on a European X-box?
    Thanks!

The answer is no mate it wont work in Europe if its from the US unless it was bought through a European distributor.

OK mate - thanks for that...damn! Have to try and see if a store in USA can issue a voucher for a gamez store over here, I guess. Son would have loved to get a parcel from USA and find the game in it.

Seems so stupid tho - it's the same x-box as sold the world over - how come the games won't work in different countries?

probably the same as DVD's - it lets them control the price by market, otherwise everyone just buys the cheapest option. Of course there are ways around it but major stores where most people buy can't just buy the cheapest wholesale price. Plus they can stagger releases if they wish to take advantage of different sales periods. In other words, it's like everything, designed to rip us off.

Of course, you could just get your son to play games on a proper computer, just as good with the right kit and never any regional issues. Plus no need for chipping etc to play copied games, which are freely available on the web if you know where to look.

Aye Bert - but this was to be a Xmas present. Not the same downloading for p.c. Also, X-Box is WAY better than p.c. games. (son says!)....

I thought of that - but that way money is lost through the exchange rate and charges for transactions. Plus - this is a kid. Getting a package from the USA with a game in it would be double value to him!

Just get your friend/relative to buy it from Europe, on the web, then send it over? Or could even buy it for delivery direct, although then it wouldn't be from the US. Ebay is also a good option?

I didn't mean for the present, i just meant in general, and you can still get games properly as presents, which don't have the regional issues. What do kids know! probably just because the TV is bigger than the PC monitor, and you don't have a joy pad for the PC? I do online racing on my PC, it's a gamer but several years out of date and it's still as good if not better than playing GT5 on my mates PS3. i do have a steering wheel, keyboard based it's shite of course. Keep meaning to upgrade my graphics card so I can play the latest games..

In car terms, you can buy a 4x4, or a Ferrari. Or, you can buy a Bowler Wildcat.
