    Hi, I have a problem with the TVU Player, have Widows XP, Windows Player 10 (tried it with eleven though as well), latest version of TVU and most of the TVU player channels wont start like Fox News or CBS, starts connecting and then it stops. My connection speed should be ok, firewall switched off, virus program does not seem to be the problem either. Sopcast, PPStreaming, Zattoo, Firewire, all work perfect. Where can be the problem? Thanks for help

    Give a channel like Starpsorts and FSC a click and post results

    What error msg do you get ? does it buffer and whats your speed ? www.speedtest.net post results.

    you're really sure you got the latest, downloaded from here :
    http://www.myp2p.eu/softwareitem.php...&part=software
    ???

    Otherwise try the codec pack;
    The most common problem is missing codecs. Make sure to download the K-Lite codec pack;

    Try GolTV 47159.

    Also, ensure you got .NET installed as well as IE as default explorer. TVU needs these componenents to run well.

    My TVU version is 2.3.4 and channels connect at a single click

    weird :(

    What antivirus do you use ? And I hope you havent installed any form of antispyware and such software that may be blocking TVU. Also, you didnt mention if you applied the TCP patch . Is there a remote possibility your ISP is interring with your traffic ?

    Can you try TVU on another computer somewhere ?

    Yeah, I was thinking about the ISP, I am on the UK Leeds University network but I looked at the list of programs that they monitor (but dont block - like file sharing Azeurus etc. and none of the P2P TV was on the list. Besides all other P2P TV programs are working, like PPStream, SopCast, Zattoo, they are working without any troubles. Notwithstanding, I just clicked on IBN 7 India on TVU, bandwidth 375 and it loads the channel. I have installed the patch, have now 50 connections instead of 10. I use McAffee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5... no change..... its really weird, thanks for analyzing this with and for me :)

    You know what, I ll advise you uninstall McAfee completely ( provided you got the install CD) or in the least disable it completely while using p2p clients. their live -scanners will attempt to monitor all traffic to/from you computer and it might just be responsible.

    To be sure you are not running any other killer software, can you do a system scan with Hijack this here http://www.download.com/3000-8022_4-10781312.html and post its logfile ?

    You've got gr8 varsity admins there, monitoring but not blockign p2ptraffic.

    Yikes ! thats cool!

    Wow,

    how long does it take you to boot up your machine ? you've got loads of shiite autoloading on your machine, stuff U ll never/rarely use.

    let me do a quick analysis of the log and I ll post back, but you do seem to be running AOL browser right ?

    nope, i have mistakenly turn AOL once ( is preinstalled on my toshiba), was lazy to uninstall this. yeah I have to clean that mess, but since I have 2gig RAM and 150 gig hard drive, was not too much worried about that. it takes me, well certainly less than 5 mins when I reboot it :) I mostly use FireFox but my default is IE :) have to clean that...

    tbh with you, there is too much extra baggage on your machine. having 2Gigs RAM isnt an excuse for running all these TSRs (memory resident software). If you have your winXP CD I might advise reloading the windows.

    You can do a quiick backup of your files to the new hotmail skydrive here skydrive.live.com. I am almost too certain a fresh reload will solve your problem.

    And if you can't just decrapify the machine starting with AOL. then I can help you further :(

    heh, one lesson learned though, not to try remove America Online from toshiba notebook preloaded windows XP, it corrupted the registry and cannot reboot. probably the whole system was unstable as well. hav to go to laptop repair to backup my disc onto another disc and then have to format the whole C drive and recover original OEM windows, one good thing about this, I get rid off all the junk :) since I am out of comp, I will write later (hopefully) if that had an effect on TVU player :)

    AOL sucks. Even if I still use them :) hehe

    Your best bet is to reload windows but please I beg you in the name of Santa, do not load all those toshiba extras. Just windows XP and the basic drivers for your vga/board/sound and network card.

    All the others are uneeded.

    You dont need IE explorer to run tvu at all...you can download the firefox addon from the firefox addon site, and yes it runs perfectly well :p

    the fact that tvu is nothing but a big fat ad server farm sitting inside the client speaks volumes...its always in beta...and its poor..end of story...the broadcaster crap is even worse...personally who ever designed it must have been on crack...who in their stupid minds would ever put professional cabled network channels on there apart from illegal streamers? it would be illegal for the cabled networks to put any channels on there lmao there are broadcast laws that prohibit them from doing just that...they must own their own entire site and it must be protected..the failed drm aspect and now the huge ad farm sitting inside the tvu client 2.3.5 constant beta does speak volumes. your spyware is likely doing its proper job in blocking the ad server.

    the secret is blocking the ad server / farm and getting tvu to work..thats the real trick. 99.9% of all channels suck really badly..their p2p network is nothing but a joke too....shame they didnt use the same nodes and peers as peercast and p2pradio..both leave the tvu network a laughing stock...using nodes would have been the perfect thing to do, and having multi choice encoding mechanics even better...and the removal of the ridiculously large overheads...shit who do they they think has that much bandwidth in the first place? and the retarded , yes retarded playlist the broadcaster comes with...all in a shite experience with shite software..its needs pulling a huge amount of revision work done on it, because it isnt fit to be called beta in its current form. rant over
