Default Connecting PC Streams to Samsung UE46D5000 TV

Hi Guys, i've been using streams on my laptop for along time now but would like to try to get them onto my TV, a Samsung D5000.

I recently brought this TV and i can use there samsung 'all share' software, which when set up i can access all my media files on pc and wirelessly send them straight through to the TV.

What i would like to do is find some similar software so i could stream 3pm ko's through soppy or any other quality streams.

I also have an xbox 360 and an old xbox if that may work, however i would rather try the above method if possible.

Any ideas would be a great help!

    Thanks in Advance

I doubt there is a way to make sopcast work via smart TV functionality, I'd be amazed if Samsung has some kind of sopcast ap for it's TVs. Best bet would be a connection that allows you to use your TV as a monitor, then you can just view streams on it like your laptop. Most modern TVs have a PC input connection, failing that it's just a matter of find the right connectors, for example I have s-video output on my graphics card that connects to the s-video in on my TV. However my TV is crap don't think you get s-video on decent modern teles but you may have something else you could adapt or use.

edit: just checked and that TV has VGA input, I'd suggest getting a cable for your laptop as if to connect to a monitor, and simply plug into your TV when you want to watch streams. I'm assuming you're on wireless internet and it won't be an issue to move your laptop to the TV.

you might have to configure the output to get the correct resolution, but it will probably plug and play, but you should be able to access it in Control Panel via Display (assuming you are running windows). It may well auto detect the quality of the TV and set the resolution accordingly. I have separate controls via my graphics card software, but I'm not sure if that will be the case for you on a laptop.

Thanks for the reply guys, i will try the VGA direct to the TV.

Ideally i would like to try to get a stream wireless over from the laptop to TV through DNLA. I know that i can do this through the samsung all share software as last night i tried and it worked wireless. I managed to view some boxing avi files from my pc which played back without any problems.

I have heard of the ps3 media server being able to work with sopcast and tversity or whatever it is called. I would like to know if anyone has used the ps3 server to play sopcast streams through a laptop wirelessly.

Not sure if tversity is through a 360. I do have an old xbox which has a media server that i installed years ago, i found a thread on the net which 'seemed' to think that sopcast could work through this way aswell.

Would be great if anyone else had managed to get this working.

Since I moved into uni accommodation I've had to use streams as I can't bring my dish here I do, however, have ESPN on Freeview

We have a 32" TV in the kitchen which I'm next door to so I just bought an HDMI cable and fed it out of my window and into the kitchen window. Works great and as it's HDMI I get sound! I've heard that you can also get HDMI senders so that you can wirelessly send it so that might be worth looking into.

Not using a PSP Ferg, i have read on the net that you can download ps3 server without having a PS3 Console.

I know there was a fair few threads using ps3 media server to stream sopcast streams through to TV on myp2p but obviously with the site down i won't know what was mentioned there.

    Someone must know something !
