Didnt work either, as i suspected. My ISP only slows p2p traffic during certain hours and even then i can get it to work, i downloaded a 7 gig torrent in under 30 minutes at 4.3 mb/s yesterday

    As for this issue though...

Well, its not a router issue as its happened on 2 different routers, its not a port issue as they are definately open.

    What else could it be?

Well, it could be that you have a registry problem. So here goes, but prolly my last shot.

    1. Uninstall StreamTorrent. Ideally use something like Revo Uninstaller (download from their site)
    2. Make sure that the StreamTorrent directory is deleted.
    3. Restart your PC
    4. Use a good registry cleaner (I use CCleaner) Run it 2 or 3 times.
    5. Restart PC
    6. Download and install StreamTorrent...get it from Softpedia

Then try to get it running using the BB4U channel like before. And leave it running if necessary for a couple of hours.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Fresh out of other ideas.

    I use CCleaner daily.

Ill do one more uninstall/reinstall and see if it makes any difference but im doubting it.

Ill try leaving BB4U connecting for a few hours and see if that works.

Thanks for all your help so far, this has me totally stumped.

I apologise if I am saying the obvious.

But in CCleaner make sure you are cleaning the Registry, not the disk and cache.

And I really recommend using Revo Uninstaller, rather than the one that comes with the Windows OS

Its ok no need to apologise you are trying to help and i appreciate it.

Yeah, i always clean the reg, used CCleaner for years, no luck.

What could it be in my PC thats stopping ST from receiving info back from the outside world? Because as above, its able to send bytes out.

    A bit extreme this but...

Would a totally fresh installation of Windows 7 be sure to fix the problem?

I did a fresh install a couple of months ago and im wondering if thats got something do with the problem...

Yep the dreaded red X, also left it running all night and its still there, so im going to let it run all day today as well...

Finally got it sorted and working again guys look...

What i did was i took a copy of my brothers StreamTorrent Hidden Folder and replaced mine with his. Funny thing is his using Windows 7 and im running Windows XP but the Hidden Folder from my other XP computers would not work...?

Anyway here it is if you want to try it...

+1. for some reason, someone keeps wiping the c:\ drive of the desktop PC in the classroom where i'm stuck 2 nights per week. sometimes, when i re-install ST it works right out of the box, but other times, i have to replace the "hidden folder." thanks to DMW and his bro, i was able to get "netstate connected--perfect" in time for tonight's buckeyes game on 420TV ST. so, thanks again, DMW!
