Buccos come away with a 8-4 win over the Cubbies and take the series..woohhooooo. Now onto probably the biggest series coming up to date in Cincy This should be fun! Oh by the way..the Hammer has been scaring the crap out of me lately. Not good. I hope he snaps out of it soon!

Actually, Sanchez was an All-Star in 2011, I believe, and Snider is young enough that he has plenty of potential. Both may benefit from a change of scenery.
Wandy should be stepping in for Bedard in the rotation in my opinion.
This weekend's series is reminiscent of the 70's, when The Lumber Company and Lumber and Lightning battled the Big Red Machine.usually without having a lot of success unfortunately.

Yes this weekend series should be interesting. It will tell me quite a bit about were this Pirate team is on several levels. Hopefully some positive results!

Need leaders to step up given the recent ass kickings in houston, chicago, and losing 2 here in cincy....True we won teh series vs. Chicago but those series have shown some alarming things: J- Mac is regressing, Cutch is going cold, we have been sloppy..... and teh clutch hitting has disappeared. I liked the Rodriguez trade, but the other 3 were failures... I just dont see hwat Qualls, Sanchez and Snider bring to teh club. We needed a stick to protect cutch. moving walker around is not the answer, and thus far since moving him to 5th his average has dropped 12 points

Yeah Rat, not what i expected in Cincy. I think Cutch is trying to be a leader, but at the same time putting to much pressure on himself. That's were HIS veteran team mates need to step it up. Losing this series will not be the end of the world, but it sure the hell is a wake call. There will be plenty of crucial games left down the stretch. Lets see if they can hang in there and make a run!!!

The Reds are playing with a swagger. The tear they are on is nearly unprecedented. They are amazing to watch right now. They are playing the game the way it was meant to be played. That slide into third base by Rowland reminded me of Charlie Hustle. I see some retribution for our two batters that got plunked the first two games. It's gonna be a battle today. Salvage a win Buccos! Get some "mo" coming home!

Nice win tonight. Great outing by Bedard. Reds lose. Still plenty of time to catch them.

Besides the no class issue of throwing at people, i just hope those games in September actually mean something!

    Hey now....

C'mon you guys... throwin at batters is part of the game, but I don't think Leake deliberately threw at your guy on Sat. I didn't see the throw at Cutch so I can't say. It was however totally uncalled for, for the ump to warn both benches at that point. I respect Hurdle for raising hell about it. Your guy over-reacted imo, but I loved the way Leake (who is my favorite mlb player btw) stared him down and walked toward the line in case your guy wanted to make more of it. Anyway, I hope the buccos and reds make it to post-season and I think they will.

3 horror shows in 3 nites, I am not pressing the panic button BUT we must acknowledge that since the Houston series we have looked only mediocre. We struggled vs. teh stros, cubs, reds, d-backs and pads. True we are playing 20 games in 20 days, but we have a 6 man rotation. Has anyone noticed that the pitching and bullpen have cooled off?? cutch is not driving teh ball???? we need people to step up, and first the staff has to put their foot up their asses and show them that teh first 4 months dont mean dick if you dont close....and that should be lesson one from last years collapse. Secondly, someone needs to step up when teh studs arent producing.... Thirdly, they need to make a move with J-mac who has looked like shit since the break......perhaps skip a start, however i woudl not be surprised if tehy shut him down if we are not challenging in sept.

In all we should be concerned but not panicking

Interesting term Rat used..".be concerned, but don't panic"!. Is that like "cautious optimism"? Am i concerned?..yes maybe a little. I don't like what i am not seeing from some veterans on this team. Yes they need to get the swagger back. It was there and it just vanished in my opinion. Lets just cool our heels and see how things are at the beginning of Sept!

Its a dangerous time right now, with the team slumping against teams they should beat, and a veteran, playoff-tested Cardinals team starting to make noise right behind them.
Still a long way to go, but as the finish line gets closer, the pressure only increases, especially for a team not used to a pennant race.
    We shall see.

Good point CB, especially about the pressure. Lets hope they can handle it when it counts!
