Wink New York Yankees 2012 Forum

Spring training is nearly here, and it looks like we're gonna have a great season ahead. From the monster Pineda/Montero trade, locking in CC Sabathia, shipping off the hearburn inducing AJ Burnett, new DH Raul Ibanez and Andruw Jones returning this team seems to be loaded for an all out assault on the AL East.

It's gonna be an interesting contest in the AL East this season, with the low-cost, but brilliantly managed, young talent juggernaut Rays providing serious competition, while the hated Red Sox are questionable after their 2011 collapse, organizational changes and defensive holes. The bigger story there might be what will be Bobby Valentine's next questionable soundbyte be. The Blue Jays seem to be a team that could be a strong contender this year, with some young pitching talent, and then the Orioles could always play the spoiler to contending teams late in the season.

As Yankee fans, we also are privileged to witness what could be the final season of Mariano Rivera's legendary career. There's people in college today who've never seen anyone else come out to close it out in the Yankees 9th.

Here's to a great season, Go Yanks!

When my grand dad passed away, back in the early '70's, one of the items we received was an autographed baseball. Of the 1926 Yankees. Yes, those guys.
We didn't know it's true worth, until after it was left outside in the weather, and completely ruined. The last remembrance of this baseball was seeing it under some bush in the yard, torn, and frayed.

That story seriously brought a tear to my eye. Only thing I can say, is at least it wasn't 1927 (Murderer's Row). I'm sorry for the loss, that's awful. I could only imagine what that ball would be worth today.

Well we're 2 games in so far and things are looking up! Granderson was awesome yesterday, though the Power B's (Bentances and Banuelos) still look like they need another season in AAA, while David Phelps unexpedly looks like a guy who will make it to the show if an opportunity pops-up, whether being from another pitcher's ineffectiveness or injury. Today, A-Rod looked terrific, going just a triple shy of the cycle.

Things are looking good so far, i'm looking forward to seeing how Michael Pineda looks in his first outing tomorrow. Go Yankees!

It's been a rough start so far, Kuroda was awful in his first outing, Pineda couldn't get above 91 MPH in his outing, Hughes looked awful, and even the ace CC got clobbered. Nova looked the best so far, I don't begrudge him the homer he gave up, that looked like a fly ball popup if it wasn't for the wind.

Too early to panic, it's Spring training after all. But a little scary to see the newly upgraded rotation looking rough at best.
