Manchester City are set to be without Gareth Barry for Thursday's Europa League last-16 second leg tie against Sporting Lisbon at Etihad Stadium.
The England midfielder has been troubled by a back problem and may be rested by manager Roberto Mancini.
Defenders Vincent Kompany (calf) and Pablo Zabaleta (hamstring) are unavailable but Joleon Lescott (groin) has a chance of making the bench.
Striker Carlos Tevez is not registered to play in the competition.
City face an uphill task after Xandao's first-leg winner means Sporting bring a 1-0 lead to Manchester.
Mancini's men followed that result with defeat at Swansea on Sunday, which saw them overtaken by Manchester United at the Premier League summit.
"We can't think negative at this moment," said Mancini. "We are positive and we think we will win the Premier League and the Europa League.
"If we thought differently, it would be a mistake. It would be everything to win both competitions.
"We always play with the best team. Even when we change four or five players it is because we have played one game and then another after three days.
"Sometimes these players need to rest - it is impossible the same team can play every game. We have a team of 20 players.
"We want to win and we need to do our best if we want to beat Sporting."
Provisional squad: Hart, Pantilimon, Richards, Lescott, Savic, K Toure, Clichy, Kolarov, Milner, Pizarro, Johnson, Nasri, Silva, De Jong, Y Toure, Dzeko, Aguero, Balotelli.
