I have to agree with regards to Villas Boas, the man became a laughing stock at Chelsea simply because they had a team of 'old heads' ruling the roost. At Spurs it would be a very different kettle of fish and as I said in an earlier post. If he has cleared his mind of what happened at Chelsea, we could have a real gem on our hands.

A brief insight into the work of AVB, well worth a read for any Spurs fan as it shows the man's true potential:

AVB tried to change too much too quickly imho mate. We have been built on a solid defense for the last few years and defense went right out of the window as soon as AVB came through the door. It might not effect you lads as much as you are not as defensive as us! Don't forget T28,those old heads went on to win the European and FA Cup's. All Di Matteo did was get the team to play to it's strengths (something we all could of done really) We still scored 4 (legitimate) goals in a Wembley Semi Final though

It will be very interesting to see if the Di Matteo signing works out though mate as you had crap loads of luck in taking both those cups and in the league you hardly made a move upwards. Was it all the eggs in the cup baskets? or will he show steel this season and make you a force again?
You have made a move to oust the old and get the new in, with what looks like two good signings. Still a long way to go I reckon but the Russian will break the bank again no doubt.

The cup win over us was inevitable on the day, we were getting outrun in midfield from the off and twitchy brought on a striker and took off an attacking midfielder and left us totally exposed to any attack. That and the fact we were crap for months heading into the game made it an impossible task and the side ran out a deserved embarrassment. It still pains me when I think of the day but at least the **** up has been removed now and we can try and move on

I agree with the fact AVB may suit us better as we do play in an attacking football but also, we don't have certain players who have such a big say at the club, that should be a massive help to him too.

Reports in today press state that AVB is not very happy that Levy wants to speak to other potential candidates! This time last week everyone
was saying this was a done deal!
I like Daniel Levy as a chairman, I think he runs the club in a very professional mannor, but it does piss me off that he takes far to long in making
certain desions! Why has the Vertongen deal still not been finalised! It's perfectly obvious that we need a top quality CB! If wer'e not careful he will
get fed up waiting and end up signing for another club, as could AVB! Come on Danny boy, start closing some deals!!

Apparently AVB has a clause in his compensation deal with Chelsea that he can't sign a new deal with anyone until July 1st.....I think the deal is done just waiting until then to be announced.

The hold up with Vertongen is do with Ajax and not our end...Again 100% done deal.

David Pleat who found Michael Dawson, Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone has recommended Nottingham Forest centre-half Jamaal Lascelles and is on the verge of joining Tottenham from Forest in a buy-to-loan deal.

Also....Modric will be a Real Madrid Player after the Euros.

Andre Villas-Boas has rejected recent reports linking him with the vacant manager's job at Tottenham as "lies".

The former Chelsea boss is the odds-on favourite to be appointed at White Hart Lane following the shock departure of Harry Redknapp earlier this month.

Widespread reports suggested the Portuguese was the leading choice of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy as the north London club look to secure regular Champions League football.

But there had been suggestions that Villas-Boas was unhappy at the way in which Spurs were considering other candidates, despite previously indicating he could be interested in the role.

And the former Porto boss left little area for doubt when asked about the Tottenham speculation by the Portuguese press.

He was quoted as saying by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo: "There is nothing, it is all lies."

Villas-Boas endured a brief and unhappy time in the Premier League with Chelsea, losing his job in March after some disappointing results and amid suggestions of dressing room unrest.

Spurs may now have to turn their attentions elsewhere as they search for a successor to Redknapp, who was axed after three-and-a-half years.

I don't know what to make of this

There have been conflicting, erroneous reports on Villas-Boas in recent days claiming that he has the job, that he is angry that there are other candidates, and that he has even withdrawn his candidacy. All are incorrect, with the former Chelsea manager respectful of the way Levy wants to recruit.

    Could Spurs steal Sigurdsson?

What was thought to be a done deal that former Swansea loanee Gylfi Sigurdsson was on his way to Liverpool, could now be in doubt after Spurs were rumoured to have joined the bidding.

With the departure of Luka Modric looking more and more likely, Spurs might well consider making an £8m move for the Icelandic international as great business, especially for a player who has already greatly impressed in the Prem and can perhaps also offer cover or competition for Rafael Van der Vaart, as a goal-scoring midfielder and at only 22 years of age, is more likely to improve as a player and of course increase in value as a result.

Although it could be assumed that Sigurdsson would prefer to reunite with Brendan Rodgers once more, he may well see a greater potential to play regular football for Spurs, as he may see Liverpool already having the likes of Gerrard, Adam and Suarez, making it harder to gain an offensive midfield role there than he would at WHL, especially if Van der Vaart is looking to return to Germany, as has been rumoured.

    NEW CONTRACT FOR GARETH

The Club is delighted to announce that Gareth Bale has signed a new four-year contract, committing his future to the Club until 2016.
On signing his new deal, Gareth said: “I’ve been here for five years now and I’ve enjoyed every minute. The fans have been great to me and I’d love to re-pay them and do the very best for them. The Club is progressing and I want to be a part of that, so it was great to get the deal done.

"I love the Club and the fans and I want to play my part in trying to get us back into the Champions League - where we belong. We’ve a good, young squad and we need to work together to get back on the biggest stage again."

The popular left-sided player's performances over recent seasons have attracted worldwide acclaim and have seen him named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in the past two seasons as well as the UEFA Team of the Year last year.

A winner of the PFA Player of the Year award in 2011, Gareth has not looked back since establishing himself in the First Team at the start of 2010, making a key contribution not only to the Club securing Champions League football but also in the competition itself, notably with his performances against the trophy holders Inter Milan.

Signed from Southampton in the summer of 2007 at the age of 17, the Wales international has won the Club's Young Player of the Year award in two of the past three seasons and has made a total of 160 appearances in our colours so far, scoring 29 goals.

I have a feeling the Vertongen deal may take a while longer if Ajax have anything to do with it, but it does look very much like it could be a big week for Spurs.

AVB confirmed as new Spurs manager on a three year deal, now I expect a little transfer activity and a new freshness about the squad.
    Welcome AVB and good luck!

    Yidooooooooo!

The Club have also confirmed two members of Villas-Boas' coaching staff have joined the club - with Jose Mario Rocha becoming their first team fitness coach and Daniel Sousa taking the head of opposition scouting role.

not particularly happy too see him at spurs but remembering he could've ended up at pool can't be too mad. Wish AVB luck and very unfortunate things didnt work out at Chelsea..
