    England striker Jermain Defoe has returned home from the team's Euro 2012 training base in Krakow following the death of his father.

    Very sad news, feel sorry for him not only for the loss of his father, but this will make it very difficult for him to fully focus on his game when he returns, as it looks like Hodgson intends to use him as an impact player.

    Just seen the news on sky news. Very sad news indeed RIP Jermain's dad. Would think it would be very hard for him to return to the Euro's in this position. His head would not be in the right place.

    Really sad news for Jermain, it will be hard for him to return to the Euros as this means far more than football.
