    Default Help with Streamtorrent

So I've had the Red X problem and I've fixed it by opening the ports. Now when I load a stream, this happens:

Not sure what to do now?

Just hold on,ST is a slow brute force, but very reliable. You'll eventually get it.
Check your DL%UL with iTraffic or similar.

    Thanks for the help !

EDIT: One more question... Should it be loading this slow? It's been at 0 for a while now and it's stuck at 3% now... with "1 second completed".

    Default Very unstable, choppy

How come sopcast 3Mbps streams were playing silky smooth, and now when it's down (euro) ST can't cope even with 1.5Mbps without constant pauses for buffering? Is there a specific port which needs to be open? Strangely enough, ST configuration is grayed out so no info there either.

net is 10Mbps up and 2Mbps down (based on speedtest.net, of course)

Streamtorrent isn't sopcast, it's different and can't handle that high bitrates. It would be good if there are streams in 400-500k or max 800k, but with really high bitrate channels it takes very long to get stable. So either try a channel with a lower bitrate for more smoothness or be very patient with a high bitrate channel. It's just the way it works

The difference between Sopcast and StreamTorrent lies in the way that peers in the swarm are organised

For P2P to work, the peers must upload at least as much data as they download. So for a 1.5 Mb stream, everyone should have a 1.5 Mb upload.....and of course they all do not. These viewers are called leechers, as they leech the data out of the stream and do not replace it.

Sopcast uses a broker (aka tracker) server to mitigate this problem by checking the upload of each connection and placing those with the greatest upload capacity as first-level peers, and uses that capacoty to "replace" the volume lost to leechers. StreamTorrent does not, as it is a trackerless system

But that strength of Sopcast is also its weakness, as that is how UEFA are able to get streams taken down. StreamTorrent, with no tracker, has no server and therefore cannot be touched by those seeking to prevent streams

There is nothing you can do to prevent this. You may have the fastest/biggest upload in the world, but if others start to leech the stream, then everyone suffers. The higher the bitrate of the StreamTorrent stream, the worse it gets. The only action you can take is to view lower bitrate streams, where the effect of the leechers is less significant

There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't

Hi. I have broadband with up to 12 MB download speed but the Stream Torrent feeds just won't open even after waiting 15 minutes. It makes sense what you say about lower bitrate but if you can only get a 500 kbs stream with ST you're better off via flash streams they're more reliable

Try to click on the links from the mainpage, the StreamTorrent channels are not constant. So if you have saved them from long time they might have changed.

I'd like to add, actualy to repeat, that once chosen a channel, with all p2ps,but with ST even more, zapping should be forgotten.
