Walcott did really well to get to the dead ball line and get the ball across the face of the goal. Welbeck, however, improvised brilliantly to flick the ball, which was behind him, into the goal.

    3-2 England!

    Squeaky bum time now.

England didn't make it easy for themselves, great contribution by Walcott, three well taken goals for England. Poor free-kicks given away that led to both Sweden goals. It's in our own hands now .

We all knew this isn't the best England side. We should just be thankful for this vital victory. Ukraine looked much better against France, but if we work hard and stay organised, we can get that point to take us into the quarterfinal. After that we'll just have to look to the heavens.

Wow, guess some people can't handle the truth. Nothing wrong with my last post.

Great result for England, clearly not good enough to win the tournament but to get out of the group would be a major achievement for Roy in my opinion. All in all, a decent night for us English..

I don't get all this talk about England not being good enough to win the Euros. I reckon most people (including me) would have given the Dutch a much bigger chance of winning the Euros than England and look what happened there. Nobody gave the Greeks a sniff in 2004. Fact is, playing pretty football or even technically good football is only part of it. England's defending was a bit weak tonight, but the fight England showed is something that not all teams have. England, when they want to, can be a very powerful and aggressive team and some of the pretty teams (thinking Spain here) don't like that.

The reality is, England can definitely win the Euros. Do I think they will? No, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

For now, Hodgson has to sort out the wings. Milner and Young were crap tonight. Milner worked hard, but gave absolutely nothing going forward. If you play Carroll and Wellbeck, you have to put lots of crosses into the box. Milner just didn't do it. He's supposed to be a safe option because he works hard and helps out defensively, but he didn't even do that very well tonight. As for Young, he struggled even more. Trouble is, I wouldn't start with Oxlade-Chamberlain and I like Walcott coming off the bench. Downing? Not for me. So, effectively, England really can't do very much when it comes to the wings except tell the players who play there that they have to do better.

History aside, Milner was OK tonight, at least he provided some sort of effort. Young was abysmal again, if he is selected for the final game it will be a shock.
Walcott (dare I say it), deserves a start as he was superb in his late role.
The massive thing for me is, who does Roy drop for Rooney?

In my opinion, Welbeck more than deserves to stay in as he was superb in the opener and more than adequate in the next game. Carroll was the better forward in this one but I don't think we have to go that way against Ukraine.
As for our chances of winning it.
In my opinion, we have no chance. Mentally we have no chance, when it comes down to the nitty gritty we just bottle it, its a fact...unfortunately.

This may sound weird but I would be very tempted to use Walcott from the bench. His biggest problem is that the opposition put two men on him and he is effectively taken out of the game (this is why you get some idiotic Arse fans calling him crap and wanting to get rid) Think he is so much more effective coming on later in the game when legs are getting tired and he gets more space. Another thing about him, he does have a habit of scoring at important times.

As for this team, Well, I'm hopeful. We should make it through the Groups and after that it's a lottery. A loaded lottery perhaps but there's always surprises to be had. Will we win it? Probably not. Can we win it? Definitely, we're in it, we can win it.
