I have bought two of these over the years.

I have the orginal model, which i bought the day it came out.

And the Rev. 1212 Model which i bought thinking my orginal crapped out, when it turns out it was just the USB ports.

Both have been solid units, even though the original had some first generation bugs... the 1212 has been flawless in recording.

As for the quality. I'd say it really good, @ the MAX settings of 13.5 Mbits. It doesn't add as many artifacts as you would think.

I would get the new Gamer edition, as i imagine they've worked out a few more kinks in the design with that model(what i dont know)

It's offical revision number is 1445

The only different between the models AFAIK is just the software used to capture the source...

I don't know about the Showbiz software, but the Original Total Media Extreme was apple stupid easy to use.
