    Default StreamTorrent updates and improvements

It seems that StreamTorrent does no longer get updated and improved, it's such a shame that a program so great went out of production so fast after its initial release and with so many users. How can that be?

As I see it StreamTorrent is opensource and it shouldn't be impossible for it to be updated and improved.
It would be great if it was possible to improve the delay, the search function, the codec limitations, and better support for higher bitrate streams. It seems that StreamTorrent does not support H264/x264 and it mostly relies on MMS streams. It would be nice if you could directly within StreamTorrent capture and encode a channel from your TV and broadcast it directly instead of having to use additional software to encode and broadcast.

actually, ST has been around for years. when i first came here, ST was on build 0069, now it's up to build 0078.

to my knowledge, ST is not open source. i see this as a good thing, because it makes it much harder for the thought police to reverse-engineer and hence track down streamers.

sure it would be great... it would also be great if one could get paid to sit home smoking weed and watching sports! but it ain't a perfect world. seeing as how it's a single developer, and a completely free and non-commercial product, i don't think we should be too demanding about it. maybe if you gave the developer a big grant so he could forget about his career and just focus on ST! (and for the record, ST supports streams of high bandwidth--it's the peers who don't have enough bandwidth that limit it.)

why re-invent the wheel? there are dozens of encoders out there: WME, Expression, VLC, Afritelly, etc, etc... no p2p platform that i know of actually does the encoding itself. (sopcast doesn't encode anything, either. it takes the output from an external encoder and delivers it over a p2p architecture--similar to streamtorrent.)

as far as supporting h264, that would be nice for some, but a headache for others. i can't watch h264 streams because it pushes my 2.5 GHz single-core CPU to the max, and it just can't keep up. h264 is a great codec, but it's a double-edged sword: to achieve that level of quality with such a low bitrate, you need a friggin' cray to decode it!
