well, this blows... nothing i've tried has solved this problem. all these years, i've been using that old-arse ATI capture card from the late-90's w/ WME9 and Win2k, and i could let that badboy run for days and days...
now that i've upgraded to a 64-bit, multi-core system with a much newer ASUS capture card, i can get about 3 hours of capture before it falls to pieces.
anyway, it appears you were correct, Mac: changing the video complexity setting did help, but did not solve the problem outright. with complexity set to 3 (normal,) the frame-rate on the viewer's end would drop to single digits after about 3 hours. after lowering the complexity setting down to 0 or 1, the frame-rate (only) dropped down to ~16.5 after 4.5 hours. an improvement to be sure, but not nearly the performance i've come to expect from my old set-up. and when i checked it this morning, after letting it run all night at the new complexity setting, the stream was completely crashed.
because so many components of this set-up are new, there's no real way to know which component is causing this long-term instability: is it the new capture card, its driver, or EE that is effing up? who knows? if only WME9 would work with this new capture card, i could at least confirm or eliminate EE as the cause. perhaps i'll try Afritelly or Ubroadcast next week. (my hunch is that the instability is due to the new card or its driver.)
anyway, thanks for everyone's feedback and suggestions this week. i will continue to tinker next week, and, hopefully, i'll find a solution that will keep the stream stable indefinitely like my old system.![]()

ok, so i'm up running some more tests tonight. new audio device should solve the audio/video synch problem.
i'll leave it running all night/day: J's STereo Feed 650k

Perfect sync for me .Buffering at 90%

looks good and in sync on my end as well... (what fps are you using? 15?)
at 1230 pm eastern time seem to be working fine now

thanks for the feedback, everyone. glad to know it's working better. unfortunately, it's still starting to drop frames after 6 or 7 hours, so i guess i won't be able to just let it run all weekend like i used to...![]()

I just wanted to drop a quick thanks for the great feed, I watched the Seahawks vs Texans tonight on your channel and the quality was great. The only question I have is: are you running a special audio codec that I need to install? Every other StreamTorrent channel works fine, but for some reason your channel, while having phenominal video quality, I can't hear any audio. Just wondering if there is an audio codec I am missing to get to hear your channel.
Anyway, thanks for the great channel!

shouldn't need anything special to hear the audio: it's encoded in windows media audio 9--and i checked it on my laptop several times to verify, and the sound was coming through loud and clear.i wonder if any others experienced the same thing. (actually, i did restart the stream at half-time, and maybe that's when i lost the sound?)
thank you for the kind words, though. i'm still not satisfied with this new hardware set-up, but i hope to get a new capture card on ebay soon. so hopefully, i'll be back to my old standards before week 1.
and just so you know, i'll be streaming virtually all the seachix games again this season: both TV and radio. (the only ones i can't stream will be if they play on nfl network or espn--even then, i'll still put up rabble and moon on radio.)

Just tested it and got sound fine, so it must have been something with last night, because I could hear the golf commentary just fine.
I live in Seattle area but don't have any TV reception, so if you are showing the SeaChix games I am super excited, I will be tuning in! Thank you so much.

so, i've acquired a new video capture device and am up running some more tests on J's STereo Feed. I've ditched the ASUS pci capture card in favor of a new ATI PCIe card. capturing is working perfectly.
what i'm looking for now is whether this new card will improve the stability of the stream. Hopefully, this new ati card will perform as well as my old ATI Rage Fury Pro! If so, it will be able to run smoothly indefinitely. I will leave it up for the next 24 hours, and if anyone can give me some feedback, it would be much appreciated.
TIA,
miahJJ
PS. i am aware that the sound level is relatively low. this is due to the low level of the output of the sound source (digital cable box) and i already have the input level on the soundcard mixer as high as it will go.
UPDATE: left the stream running when i went to bed last night, and when i got up this morning, the computer had mysteriously rebooted itself..? don't know if this has something to do with the new hardware, or if it was just a fluke. in any case, stream is back up now for testing.

Watching the Hawks game, audio is great but Video seemed a bit better last week vs this week, but it seems like last week the video quality was cranked higher as well. Either way, great to watch the Hawks on line, thanks so much!
Do you have a chat somewhere? I can hear you talking, just wondering if we can interact with you while you are streaming.
well, only 3 new capture cards later and it looks like my stream stability is back to what it was with the old agp ATI Rage Fury Pro. Neither the ASUS nor the Hauppage cards were capable of giving me any consistency. my new PCIe ATI capture card, however, has now been streaming for nearly 48 hours without issue. frame-rate is maintaining perfectly!--i am so stoked to be back to my old standards. so when it comes to video capture, ATI is the poop!
only problem i've found with this new ATI card is that i cannot use the analog audio input on it. whenever i try to, it causes an immediate reboot the moment i start up the encoder. so, for the time being, i'm just using the line-in of the motherboard sound.
now all i need to round out the system, so that i can stream TV and radio simultaneously, is a PCI soundcard that has a stable driver for XPx64. creative's 64-bit driver for my SB Live is a beta version, and was causing my system to hang after about 15 minutes.
i tried another card that i have (C-media, CMI 8738-lx chipset,) but it isn't working either: the only 64-bit drivers i can find so far are for Vista and 7. the 2k/XP drivers are 32-bit only it seems. (this is the card i used for years on my old 32-bit system.)
so if anyone can recommend a soundcard that has known working XP-64 bit drivers, i'd be most appreciative. it needs both mic-in and line-in inputs, and hopefully a CD-in, as well. it would also be preferable for it to be able to use "stereo mix" (or "what-u-hear".) i've read that a lot of the new PCIe soundcards don't give you this option...arseholes!
UPDATE: finally got the SB Live card to work. the trick appears to have been disabling the joystick/midi port. been streaming for about 6 hours now, and no system hangs this time. fingers crossed that it will maintain overnight![]()
