    Default The Stone Roses.

The Stone Roses are playing Live at Heaton Park Manchester Tonight and Tomorrow 29th/30th June 2012. It's only about 3 miles from my house, and I can't go as I couldn't get a ticket.

Does anyone know of a Live Audio stream? I've tried all the local radio stations and nobody seems to be broadcasting it,

I've had xfm on for about an hour in the hope they broadcast, but it's not on the schedule list. But I'm on the Manchester link and staying tuned in for now.

    Oh well no joy.

Hope there's much joy for the 75,000 rocking tonight

A mate of mine is tweeting from Heaton that "the beer's ran out and it's pissing down, so don't be jealous! Wish I'd stayed at home - it's crap"

Well you don't go to gigs for the beer and weather ...... And if you're ever to visit Manchester for any reason?..... Always bring an Umbrella and Wellies.

The absolutely smashed it!!! There was a slight lull in the middle, a couple of the songs needed better vocals than Ian Brown could hit (this wasn't such a bad thing as every person in the crowd was singing along with every song anyway) but when they hit the highs they really hit the highs! Hard to pick a highlight but Resurrection at the end was definitely up there. Don't think it was that the beer ran out, they had to close the tents down a couple of times cos queues were so long and dickheads were hopping the barriers and causing trouble.

Think Manis comment at the end summed it up pretty well: "Not bad for a couple of old C****"

Was meant to be quality every single night! Knew a few people that managed to afford to fork out for it, what can i say i was just a bit jealous.

Let's hope the (maybe) Oasis reunion happens it will be even bigger!! 2015

One of my daughters went on Sunday and she phoned me when they played 'Wanna be Adored'. I paused the Euro final and listened to what I can only describe as..... Daleks singing under water. That was just the crowd that was around her. Couldn't hear the band at all, .. But she loved it, thought it was great.

As for Oasis. I love there Albums, but went to see them a few years ago at the Etihad Stadium and felt a little disappointed. Wasn't as good as I was hoping. The sound was a bit flat and it made me wonder if they was using an Amstrad sound system from Tandys ...
That was only 3 weeks after seeing U2 at the same venue. 5th time I'd saw them Live, and they've never let me down once..... Let me put it this way..... I left the Oasis gig singing U2 songs in my head.

I would love to see Oasis get back together, doubt it'll happen in the near future. I went to the gig at Heaton Park and it was Amazing! Not as good as the Roses gig though

For anybody who wants to see it, Video of Fridays gig made from various youtube clips all edited together. In and out quality but that can't be helped (It's enhanced but all from phone cameras and the like so quality not the greatest in the first place)

.........Speaking of Live performances from Manchester bands, it dosn't get much better than this.......
Posted a better link. The old one was slightly out of sync.
    .......And this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crZxR...eature=related

    Talk about involving the crowd.

I thought we could use this thread as a general music thread. Sharing our favourite music of any genre.... (Just no plastic pop sh!t please)

I stumbled on this by accident a few weeks ago. I'm not a fan of guns and roses, although I do like a couple of their songs. But this acoustic set with Slash and Myles Kennedy works brilliantly. It's not flawless, but when you're trying to play a guitar as fast as Slash is here, it's not going to be 100%, but it dosn't spoil it's brilliance, and the video is slightly out of sync in most parts, but still worth it... Hope you enjoy.

You Mancs with your Oasis's and Stone Roses's! What about the original depressives The Inspiral Carpets! Loved that band even though they had me dreaming of a one way trip to Beachy Head.

Manchesters best ever band though was Buzzcocks. The first ever band to put out an independant single back in 76 and still going strong today.

You also have the worlds best poet in John Cooper Clarke. Funny as fook that man is.

It's not all depressive. Now, talk about The Smiths and I'm reaching for the tablets.

John Cooper Clark is class. And incidently Inspiral Carpets are playing in Kent tomorrow with James and others.

I was rather amazed Robert Smith played with the Banshees.

Didn't know that at the time, but I was a hard-core rocker, so all this punk stuff completely passed me by.
