Angry Can't get english commentary in Sopcast.

    Hi,guys!

I just wonder how many are experiencing the same problem with Sopcast.
After the end of the 2011/12 English Premier League i have noticed that i can't get channels with English commentary. Like today i was trying to watch WBA vs Liverpool all the other channels in Russian and Chinese were working perfectly but the 2 channels in English were not.
One of the English channels was showing but it was stuck and no matter how many times i reloaded it remained in the same spot.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

At what time you try to connect to the channel?

I realised maybe I have this same problem! Today I even start new thread here because i was thinking it was problem after windows reinstall.

Now I try watch Wigan vs Chelsea. I check stream after stream here, on wiziwig:

Navip HD1 [RU] - work good
    MeciuriHD [RO] - work good
    Tzonner1 (Italy?) - work good
    Bloodzeed [EN] - work bad
Spanish Football (it's english also - sky sports] - work bad

but RUS NTV+ Uefa it's russian and don't work good too...

I thought maybe it's bitrate thing.. But Spanish Football don't work with 1500 and MeciuriHD work good with 1995.

    Have you solve this problem?

Difficult, but might be due to connections and people connected to the channel some might work better then others. Rus NTV+ and Bloodzeed are two of the highest quality, and when more people with bad internet connect it can be it doesn't work as good for you. Spanish Football is also pretty high quality and in Spain they don't have that fast internet everywhere so that might influence it.Maybe do a speedtest(.net) and post the results (up/download speed), as for those high quality ones you need fast internet.

Also it does help when you connect early. So for a 3pm game, don't connect at 3pm but try to tune in 30 minutes before. This basically applies to every big game you want to watch.

    down: 13Mb/s, up: ~1Mb/s

Not amazing but second half Wigan vs Chelsea I watched on Bloodzeed on notebook and work perfect.
Maybe Bloodzeed streams are better than his streams in last season and my old PC just can't handle it. For example I can't watch movies in 1080p or sometimes even 720p because they don't work properly.

Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know how good PC has got monilovemoni.

That should be fine I think. Well bloodzeed does use a different codec now so that might be the reason, same maybe like the 1080 or 720p movies. That might be the reason then.

But if it does work fine on a notebook then your internet/firewall/router isn't the problem

I've tried this on many occasions- it doesn't work! Like on Saturday i tried tuning in at 5.05 for the 5.30 Newcastle vs Tottenham game but it said the channel was off line for that time.
With bloodzeed I'm sure it's to do with too many people using his stream and the bitrate of over 2200 he's got (which is quite good for HD, though).
I managed to watch the Newcastle vs Tottenham game on Bloodzeed's stream but it was running 7 minutes late and was constantly freezing.
The Saturday 3pm games with English commentary are still difficult to get.
pb2910Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know how good PC has got monilovemoni.
My laptop is perfect and i have download of up to 25Mbs and upload of up to 3Mbs from my ISP.
YES had a perfect stream for the Man City vs Southampton game on Sunday.

It's strange... If you have so good internet and good laptop. As I wrote before - sometimes on my old PC good channels don't work properly but on laptop always everythink is ok.

Did you try reinstall something? For example Windows Media Player? Or some codeck pack? I don't know - maybe it helps.

I have got K-Lite Codec Pack installed to play Windows Media Player. I also have problems when watching Match of the day. The picture looks like it's squeezed: i can't extend it to occupy the whole screen even if press full screen it still occupies the centre of the screen only- like a rectangle. Could this be the K-Lite Codec i have got for Windows Media Player? Do u suggest i should uninstall it?
    Thanks.

this is most likely due to difference in aspect ratios. perhaps you're watching a 4:3 image on a 16:9 screen? or the streamer is encoding a 16:9 "letterbox" image in a 4:3 window.

you can check by looking at the stream "properties" in windows media player. find the pic size (should be expressed as 320x240, or something similar. (once you've found this number, you can determine what aspect ratio the streamer is using by dividing the 2 numbers. e.g., 640 divided by 480 = 1.3333, i.e. 4:3, nearly square. while 640 divided by 360 = 1.7777, i.e. 16:9, a wide-screen rectangle.)

MOST LIKELY SCENARIO: if indeed the streamer's source is a 16:9 "letterbox" that is being streamed 4:3, and you have a 16:9 screen, you will certainly get the "windowbox" effect you describe. this can be corrected using VLC to view. once the video is playing in VLC, choose Video -> Crop -> 16:9. then when you go full-screen, it should fill your whole screen. (keep in mind this is just a possibility, as i haven't checked the stream myself to verify it. also keep in mind that perhaps it is supposed to be in 4:3 aspect, as there is still much 4:3 programming out there--though, not much for sports i find.)

this is a common occurrence ever since the introduction of 16:9 broadcasting. some of the channels i receive from my cable provider exhibit this "windowboxing" behavior. short of using VLC, or some other software, to manipulate the image on the viewer's end, the simple solution is for the broadcasters (and/or the streamers) to broadcast the video in its native aspect ratio. i.e., if the original is 4:3, broadcast it at 4:3--if the original is 16:9, then broadcast it at 16:9. unfortunately, many major broadcasters find this concept too difficult to grasp, and thus leave it up to the viewers to deal with it!
