You need a few different bits of software but I now have sopcast working perfectly/

1/You will first need to download "Crossover"

2/Once installed, open the program, select a win98 bottle. then install internet explorer 6 (the programme automates this process for you) IE6 is in the supported packages list in crossover

3/Then go to the Microsoft website and download the .exe file for Media player 7. I DID THIS FOR YOU USE mp71.exe

4/Open crossover again and select "install unsupported application" - browser to the media player 7 .exe and install

5/Return to microsoft and download media player 9 and repeat the steps above. USE MPSetup.exe

6/Finally download sopcast .exe file from the sopcast site and install as above. USE Setup-SopCast-2.0.4-2007-12-13.exe

7/ the codec - without this you will see black screen in the sop player
I GOT IT..... by pure accident..... it seems you need to download a codec to get it working perfectly.. if you click on the second icon to the left of the play button (while trying to watch a stream on sopcast), it opens windows media player.. the stream tries to play in wm player , but then a message pops up to inform you that a codec needs downloading.. follow the prompts and it directs you to the right page, then, YOU GOT IT.......

Just to report that Parallels works fine for me.

If I need to use VLC for a stream as well, I run that on the Mac side, and put in the IP of the Windows install running inside Parallels, followed by :8902 as required.

I don't see why the linux version of sp-sc-auth won't run on a mac. It works great on BSD-unix.

    I've installed Crossover.
When I try to install Windows Media Player 7.1, I get the following error message:
The Windows Media Update Notifier is currently unable to detect available updates. Please try again later.

??? Any help would be appreciated.

Ah, I managed to get it working! It helped when I set the Win98 bottle as the default one.
And it works pretty well too!
Would TVU be working through Crossover in the future?
It does "hang" a bit sometimes though, doesn't it? Sometimes I press a button and nothing happens. I try to change a channel or stop the channel, but I can only stop it by quitting Crossover.

Glad to see it worked finally. I doubt it for TVU for now, but possibly in the future it might work on a MAC.

i tried all the mac options, but nothing worked satisfieing enough so i just installed win xp on a little partition on my harddrive. I think, it's the easiest and most efficiant way to get all the p2p action going. i would recommand that to everyone! saves me a lot of headaches every week!

Or how about using a god damned open-source cross platform system, like, oooh, I don't know ..... http://peercast.org/download.php

    Sigh.

Peercast is crap, has been tried a few times years ago but only buffering and issues. Just fix your mac so you can work with the most common p2p programs

Yes, that is the common mantra. I don't believe it though, since I've used peercast plenty of times without any significant problems. And even if it was slightly slower/less efficient (which I'm still not at all convinced about), I'm sure many people would still prefer it.

    Default trouble viewing on Mac

hopefully someone can help me with this.

I've just got a new Mac and cannot view any of the football games.

each time I click on any link I get this message: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (sop) isn't associated with any program.

anyone know what I need to do.

    p.s. I'm not very techy

    You have to install Sopcast first, and if I'm right it has a MAC version;

    Default Streaming to a Mac

Just got this working on my Mac - and my first post.

Newer iMac running OSX 10.6.7 with a small Windows partition for VMWare Fusion and Windowz 7.

Downloaded and installed Steam Torrent then copied and pasted the stream link right in and it works right out of the box with zero tweaking!

    Thanks -- GO O'S!

Everything is on Mac except AceStream but Sopcast, Flash, TUV and Veetle players all have Mac versions.
