1. The O-line has been a major disappointment so far

I am an "old-school" metal head. I would argue that there are far more still listening to Metallica than ones that stopped.

The ONLY band that hasn't changed slightly is Motorhead IMO. Most have to adjust their style a bit to stay viable.

That may be, but you obviously can't pigeonhole bands especially Metallica into songs like "Whiplash" off of 'Kill em All'. Hey I'm not a fan of much beyond "black album" either, and I understand taste and all, but let's give bands a chance at least right?
