    Default Response to Youtube video

Hi, I can't seem to get the third link at the very beginning of the video to work (the one to download sopcast). I think I've got the correct address: http://www.myp2p.eu/download.php?p=sopcast but I don't get an .rar file, only a .zip file which, when I try to un-rar or un-zip doesn't give me anything.

Please help, you clearly know what you're doing and I can't get similar advice anywhere else!

Thanks DeadManWalking but that link is giving me a PC file, I need a mac one (and I guess a specific version).

The link I'm having trouble with is: http://www.myp2p.eu/download.php?p=sopcast I'm not sure which version we're supposed to be downloading from there, if it's just the latest one for mac could someone confirm?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

I just got Sopcast working on my Mac. I just watched Arsenal hammer the Spuds and it all worked beautifully.

I used the Crossover method and have these observations.

    1. Create a bottle (it will be obvious what a 'bottle' is as you open Crossover. make it a Windows 98. Name it 'whatever'.
    2. Search for windows media player 7 .exe on Google, download it. Install and let everything run. Search for Media Player 9 in the Crossover list. Do that. Same for IE6 (it's old because Win98).
    3. Search for another download site for Sopcast itself. The official one was really slow. I got mine from CNet. I downloaded and saved everything to my desktop (Mac desktop I mean). It will be "Unsupported Software" so press 'install' and it will then look for the .exe file (on my desktop).
    4. Search for WM9Codecs.exe (sorry if that is a little out, Google will correct you). Downloaded that to my desktop as above. Also an "Unsupported Software". Without this you may not see anything.

    That's it.

Oh yeah a big tip that should be installed on Crossover itself is ... set your homepage on internet Explorer as soon as you can to Google.com ... That MSN homepage is a bandwidth hell bitch dog.

It's not actually a Mac application, that is why we are using 'Crossover' for example. You are then going to download a windows .exe file.

    Default Getting nowhere fast!

    H) Look for PID of winehelper

e.g. 775 WineHelper 0.0% 0:0:43.23 5 etc etc etc. Thus, 775 is the PID of winehelper

    I) Ctrl C to end top function in Xterm and exit screen

    J) in xterm type: kill -9 (PID of winehelper) e.g. if PID = 775 - so comand is kill -9 775

    HELP!!

I get as far as the above but what the hell is PID?

I'm totally new to Mac's, only ever used a PC and had this about a month, the only thing I don't like about it is the P2P sharing ie Sopcast etc, etc, I miss it.

I don't understand all this wine bottle and jar carry on, what is it?

    Thanks

    Hi all,

I installed SopCast for free on my Mac somewhat following the earlier Wine tutorial. I had some problems with MPlayer, so this was my solution after a couple of hours of messing around.

Be patient with Wine, often times things are happening and you don't know it.

    Here's an update.

    1) Get or Have X11 - Snow Leopard comes installed

    2) Install WineBottler - WineBottler - Run Windows Programs directly on OS X

    3) Using the WineTricks of WineBottler, install the VLC player from the menu of choices (you can try MP9, but I had some issues with it)

    4) Quit Wine, then Restart Wine

    5) Download Sopcast 3.2.4 and click on the exe file (wine will auto install) - check the forums here

    6) Quit Wine, then Restart Wine

    7) Open Sopcast.exe from Wine File Manager, login anonymously, go to Option tab at the bottom of the window

    8) From the Option tab - click on the box 'use my own media player' and then browse and link the VLC.exe in the VLC file folder

    9) Start stream using sop address. (Because the direct links don't with your Mac browser, you need to right click on the link and select 'Copy link location' and then paste into your Sop browser bar)

    10) Player will slide out and buffer, but will not show anything.

    11) Click on the Pop Video Player Out button of Sopcast (the overlapping square buttons to the left of the play button)

    12) VLC will pop up and stream will play bee-yoo-tee-fulll-eeee*

*Note: when you want to quit or change streams, SopCast locks up when you close the VLC window. You can easily shut it down by using the Task Manager of Wine and then restarting SopCast

Easy & simple setup. Hopefully it works for others!

I'm working on getting WebSop working with the IE7 in the WineBottler, will keep you posted.

By the way, I've been using myp2pforum for months now. I really appreciate what all the streamers do.

Alright, I've gotten WebSop working for Mac for free too.

    A) Install SopCast as I posted earlier on this thread.

NOTE: I upgraded to the newest VLC player as compared to the one with Winetricks (this works fine)... This may be needed for WebSop because it includes a Mozilla plug-in (maybe not though)

    Then follow these steps:

    1) Download & Install Firefox 1.5.0.12 here - Download Firefox 1.5.0.12 - OldApps.com

    2) Install the FF Active X plugin - http://www.sopcast.com/download/mozactivex-ff-15.xpi

    As described here at Myp2p - http://www.myp2pforum.eu/sopcast/123...t-firefox.html

    3) Shut down and Restart Firefox

    4) Load a page with embedded WebSop

    5) As before, Stream will buffer and not play. Click the Pop out button as before, and Viola!... we are in business.

PS. Don't try to get WebSop working with IE, because IE doesn't work well with Wine. Use the older version of Firefox. I assume your main browser is your Mac browser (Safari or Firefox) anyways, so having the older Windows version for WebSop is all you need.

Thanks again everybody for the streams!

Ok.. I've tried multiple times to use the Crossover technique, following barc's video the whole way..
I get everything installed, and I log into sopcast, but right as I log into sopcast, it stops responding, and I can't click anything within sopcast..
Any suggestions? Also, do you think it is possible to run the sopcast streams in VLC even with this problem?

    ~thanks, strategix
